Air India's seasonal nonstop between Mumbai and Jaisalmer entered the winter timetable on October 25, 2026. AI2563 flies from Mumbai to Jaisalmer, while AI2564 returns to Mumbai.

The important wrinkle is the clock. Air India's March announcement gave one daily timetable, but current schedule records already show different times on some weekdays and weekends. Use the time on the selected date and issued ticket, not a saved screenshot of the launch announcement.

Unbranded passenger aircraft above a blended Mumbai coast and Jaisalmer desert landscape

*Original AI-generated OpenSim editorial illustration. The unbranded aircraft and blended landscape are conceptual; they do not show an Air India flight, an airport approach or literal route geography.*

The practical answer: Search for AI2563 from Mumbai and AI2564 from Jaisalmer. Air India announced both as daily seasonal nonstops, but current filed times vary by date. Mumbai departures use Terminal 2. Check in online when eligible, read the baggage line on the issued ticket and recheck the flight status before setting out.

The seasonal route is now in the winter timetable

Air India announced the route in March, with an effective date of October 25. It described a daily seasonal service that complements the airline's existing winter flights between Delhi and Jaisalmer.

The announced timetable was:

FlightDirectionAnnounced departureAnnounced arrivalFrequency
AI2563Mumbai to Jaisalmer10:00 a.m.11:40 a.m.Daily
AI2564Jaisalmer to Mumbai12:50 p.m.2:30 p.m.Daily

All times are local. These are the airline's launch times, not a promise for every winter date.

Current Mumbai-Jaisalmer schedules list AI2563 from Mumbai on October 26, while the AI2564 schedule lists the return from Jaisalmer that day. They also show a 12:40 p.m. return on several weekdays and a 9:30 a.m. return on the first Saturday and Sunday. That is a material difference from the announcement.

Airlines can adjust a seasonal schedule after publishing it. Search the exact date on Air India's site, then compare the flight number, departure time and airports with the issued confirmation. Recheck after any airline message and again on the day of travel.

Mumbai departures use Terminal 2

Air India's Mumbai Airport guide puts its domestic and international operations in Terminal 2. Domestic check-in is at Aisle B, and passenger entry is through gates 2 and 3.

The same guide lists self-check-in kiosks and self-bag-drop facilities at Row D for eligible domestic passengers who are not in transit. A kiosk is not the only plan for every traveler. Passengers who need special assistance, have an unusual baggage item or cannot complete the automated process should use the airline help points and allow extra time.

Mumbai also has a separate Terminal 1. Do not ask a driver for “the domestic terminal” and assume that means T1. Give the airline, flight number and Terminal 2, then confirm the terminal again in the booking on the travel date.

Treat the 60-minute check-in cutoff as a deadline

Air India's domestic check-in guidance says counters at Indian airports close 60 minutes before departure and boarding gates close 20 minutes before departure. Those are closing times, not recommended arrival times.

Online check-in normally opens 48 hours before departure and closes one hour before a domestic flight. A traveler with only cabin baggage may be able to proceed to security after receiving a domestic boarding pass. Anyone with a checked bag must still complete bag drop before the applicable cutoff.

Allow more time when using an unfamiliar airport, checking special baggage, traveling with someone who needs assistance or connecting from another ticket. A road delay in Mumbai does not extend the airline deadline.

Pack from the allowance on the issued ticket

Air India's current cabin allowance is 7 kg in Economy and Premium Economy, and 10 kg in Business and First. The published maximum cabin-bag dimensions are 55 by 40 by 20 cm. The airline also permits one qualifying small personal item under its listed size and weight conditions.

Checked baggage varies by fare family and cabin. Current domestic Economy examples range from 15 kg on Value to 20 kg on Classic and 25 kg on Flex. Air India also introduced a Basic fare on selected domestic routes with 15 kg checked and 7 kg cabin baggage.

Do not infer the allowance from another traveler's ticket. Read the baggage line before payment and again after ticketing. A separate international booking can have a different allowance even when the flights are close together. Prepay eligible excess baggage through the official booking tools if it is cheaper and suitable, but keep valuables, medicine and spare batteries in the correct cabin baggage.

Connections at Mumbai need a ticket check

Air India publishes a two-hour minimum layover for an international-to-domestic connection at Mumbai, but a published minimum is not a universal recommendation. Immigration, baggage delivery, customs, security and walking time can vary.

For a single protected international-to-domestic ticket, follow the airline's transfer instructions. Travelers entering India normally collect their bags for customs at the first Indian airport and then deposit them at the transfer desk for the onward domestic sector.

On separate tickets, expect to collect baggage and complete a new check-in unless the airlines explicitly confirm another arrangement. The later booking may remain unchanged if the first flight is late. A longer buffer or an overnight stay can be cheaper than replacing a missed seasonal flight.

Jaisalmer Airport has prepaid taxi booths

The Airports Authority of India's Jaisalmer Airport passenger page lists prepaid taxi booths in the terminal. That confirms an official airport taxi option, but it does not establish one fixed fare, journey time or round-the-clock supply.

Confirm the destination, price and payment method at the booth before leaving. Keep the hotel address offline and share the pickup details with the accommodation when arriving late or carrying valuable equipment.

Jaisalmer's commercial flights are strongly seasonal. A route that appears in the winter timetable should not be assumed to operate year-round. Check the final date available for the planned trip before making nonrefundable hotel or desert-camp arrangements.

Mobile data for Mumbai and Rajasthan

OpenSim's live catalog listed five India eSIM plans when this guide was reviewed. The smallest fixed plan included 1 GB for seven days, while longer-stay and daily-data options were also available. Prices and inventory can change, so compare the current allowance, validity and checkout total rather than relying on a figure saved from this article.

All five listed India plans supported top-up at review time. Install over reliable Wi-Fi before a journey into the desert, keep the usual SIM available if needed for calls or banking messages, and download the booking, hotel address and an offline map. An eSIM supplies mobile data where the supported ground network has coverage; it does not provide inflight Wi-Fi or guarantee a signal on every road outside Jaisalmer.

Ten questions about Air India Mumbai-Jaisalmer flights

Has the Air India Mumbai-Jaisalmer route started?

It entered Air India's winter schedule from October 25, 2026. Current schedule records list AI2563 and AI2564 on the route, but an individual flight can still change. Check the selected date and live status.

Which flight number goes from Mumbai to Jaisalmer?

AI2563 is the Mumbai-to-Jaisalmer service. AI2564 operates in the reverse direction.

Does the route stop on the way?

No. Air India announced both directions as nonstop seasonal services. Confirm that the booking still shows BOM-JSA or JSA-BOM without an intermediate stop.

Do AI2563 and AI2564 operate every day?

Air India announced a daily pattern. Current schedule records also show service across the week, but the time varies by date. Check the exact day before arranging transport.

What time does the Jaisalmer-to-Mumbai flight leave?

The launch announcement said 12:50 p.m., but current records show 12:40 p.m. on several weekdays and 9:30 a.m. on the first winter weekend. The issued ticket and latest airline status control.

Which Mumbai terminal does Air India use?

Terminal 2. Air India's current airport guide puts its domestic counters at Aisle B and self-service facilities at Row D. Reconfirm in the booking before travel.

How early does Air India close domestic check-in?

Its published counter cutoff is 60 minutes before departure, and the boarding gate closes 20 minutes before departure. Arrive earlier because security, bag drop and assistance can take time.

Which baggage allowance should I use?

It depends on the fare and cabin. Economy cabin baggage is currently 7 kg, while checked allowances vary by fare family. Use the allowance printed in the issued booking.

Will my international baggage allowance apply to a separate domestic ticket?

Do not assume it will. Separate tickets can have separate allowances and handling. Ask Air India about the exact ticket numbers and read the baggage line for the domestic sector before paying.

Can I get a taxi at Jaisalmer Airport?

AAI lists prepaid taxi booths at the airport. Confirm the current price and destination at the official booth, and keep a backup pickup plan for a time-sensitive arrival.

Passenger checklist

  • Search the exact date and confirm AI2563 or AI2564.
  • Compare the live time with the issued ticket, not only the March announcement.
  • Use Mumbai Terminal 2 and reconfirm it before departure.
  • Complete online check-in when eligible and meet the bag-drop deadline.
  • Read the fare-specific cabin and checked baggage allowance.
  • Carry valid photo identification for domestic travel in India.
  • Leave a larger buffer for separate tickets and international arrivals.
  • Confirm a prepaid taxi or hotel pickup at Jaisalmer Airport.
  • Check the seasonal route's final operating date before booking fixed plans.
  • Install mobile data over reliable Wi-Fi and save essential details offline.

Air India Mumbai-Jaisalmer source record

Air India's announcement establishes the seasonal route, effective date, flight numbers, daily pattern and launch timetable. Its current Mumbai, check-in, baggage, document and transfer pages control the practical airport guidance. AAI confirms the prepaid taxi booths at Jaisalmer Airport. Current independent schedules expose date-specific timing changes and support the warning not to treat the March timetable as permanent.

Public traveler discussions informed the questions about Terminal 2 self-service, check-in deadlines, international-to-domestic transfers, separate-ticket baggage and airport buffers. They were not treated as airline or airport policy.

Review this guide if Air India changes the route's operating period, frequency, timetable, terminal, baggage rules or check-in process. Recheck the airline and airport on the travel date.
