easyJet Starlink Wi-Fi: rollout starts in 2027

easyJet plans to offer general inflight internet for the first time, with Starlink installations starting in the first half of 2027. The airline expects to complete the rollout across its A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft by early 2028.

That is a fleet programme, not a promise for every 2027 flight. easyJet has not named the first equipped aircraft, routes or passenger flight. It has also not said whether access will be free or paid.

The practical answer: easyJet passengers may begin seeing Starlink on some flights in 2027, but a booking alone will not confirm it. Check the airline's flight details close to departure, bring downloaded essentials, and wait for easyJet to publish its price and access rules.

This guide was reviewed on October 27, 2026, one day after easyJet announced the programme.

What easyJet announced

easyJet's October 26 announcement says Starlink will be installed from the first half of 2027. Completion is expected by early 2028.

The named aircraft are the Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo. The release does not include the older A319. That omission is more useful than a broad phrase such as “across the fleet” when checking a particular flight.

easyJet says passengers should be able to browse, stream and play online games on their own devices. The connection may also support live journey information and, later, ordering from the onboard menu. The airline presents menu ordering as a possibility enabled by the technology, not a confirmed launch feature.

A 2027 ticket does not guarantee Starlink

Installations will happen aircraft by aircraft. During the rollout, the same route can be operated by an equipped plane on one date and an unequipped plane on another. A late aircraft swap can change the answer again.

easyJet has not published:

  • an exact first service date;
  • a first route, base or airport;
  • a list of equipped aircraft registrations;
  • a booking or flight-status label for Starlink;
  • a price or free-access promise;
  • a login or membership rule;
  • a device limit;
  • a measured passenger speed or service guarantee; or
  • rules for calls, video meetings, VPNs or restricted content.

Independent reports agree that the price is unresolved. Reuters also reported that the financial terms of easyJet's agreement with Starlink were not disclosed. Claims that the service will definitely be free, available on every 2027 flight or included with a particular fare go beyond the announcement.

What changes from today's easyJet onboard network

Some passengers already see an easyJet onboard Wi-Fi network. That does not mean the aircraft currently offers general internet access. The existing local network can open easyJet's onboard portal and content without connecting the device to the wider internet.

The Starlink programme is intended to add that wider connection. Until easyJet confirms that a particular aircraft is equipped and explains how to log in, treat the current onboard portal and future Starlink service as separate products.

Keep the phone or tablet in flight mode and follow the crew's instructions. Wi-Fi can usually be turned back on while cellular service remains off. The exact connection point, portal and permitted use will depend on easyJet's final passenger rules.

What the aircraft list means

The official announcement names three aircraft families:

AircraftIncluded in the October 26 announcementWhat a passenger can conclude
Airbus A320YesEligible for the rollout, but not necessarily equipped yet
Airbus A320neoYesEligible for the rollout, but not necessarily equipped yet
Airbus A321neoYesEligible for the rollout, but not necessarily equipped yet
Airbus A319Not namedDo not assume Starlink from this announcement

Aircraft type alone will not prove that Starlink is working. Installations, certification, maintenance and serviceability can differ by aircraft. The onboard network and crew guidance remain the final check on the day.

How to check before a flight

easyJet has not announced a dedicated Starlink checker. A cautious process is:

  1. Check the easyJet app and booking again close to departure.
  2. Look for a specific internet or Starlink description, not only a generic Wi-Fi symbol.
  3. Recheck after any aircraft or schedule change.
  4. Confirm the network name and access instructions onboard.
  5. Keep tickets, accommodation details, maps and essential work available offline.

Do not book a tight work deadline around the connection. Even an equipped aircraft can have a fault, a coverage restriction or a busy onboard network.

For a wider comparison, OpenSim's inflight messaging and Wi-Fi index explains how access rules differ between airlines. It should not be used to infer easyJet's still-unpublished price or login policy.

easyJet Wi-Fi and mobile data cover different parts of the trip

Starlink is the planned onboard connection. An OpenSim eSIM uses supported terrestrial mobile networks and does not connect through an aircraft's Starlink terminal.

OpenSim's live catalog listed seven Europe eSIM plans when checked on October 27. The regional page is useful for trips that cross several easyJet markets, but travelers should confirm that every destination appears in the chosen package's coverage before paying.

Plan terms can vary by package, including data allowance, validity, network access, speed behavior, hotspot support and top-up eligibility. A travel eSIM cannot unlock easyJet Wi-Fi, provide cellular service in flight or make an unequipped aircraft connected.

Before buying, check whether the phone supports eSIM and use the travel data calculator to estimate likely ground use.

Ten questions about easyJet Starlink Wi-Fi

Does easyJet have Starlink Wi-Fi now?

No passenger rollout has started. easyJet says installations will begin in the first half of 2027.

When will easyJet Starlink Wi-Fi start?

The published window is the first half of 2027. There is no exact launch date or first passenger flight yet.

Will every easyJet flight have Wi-Fi in 2027?

No such promise has been made. The rollout continues into early 2028, so availability will vary by aircraft during 2027.

Which easyJet aircraft will get Starlink?

easyJet names its A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft. The October announcement does not name the A319.

Will easyJet Starlink Wi-Fi be free?

easyJet has not said. There is no published price, free tier, fare entitlement or membership rule.

Can I stream video or play games?

easyJet lists streaming and online gaming among the intended uses. That is a future capability statement, not a guaranteed speed on every flight.

Can I use a VPN or join a video call?

The airline has not published VPN, voice-call or video-meeting rules. Check the eventual terms and avoid relying on inflight Wi-Fi for confidential or time-critical work.

How can I confirm Starlink on my easyJet flight?

There is no dedicated easyJet checker yet. Review the app and booking close to departure, then confirm the network and instructions onboard. An aircraft swap can change availability.

Is the current easyJet onboard Wi-Fi already internet access?

Not necessarily. The existing onboard network can provide a local portal and content without general internet access. Starlink is the planned wider connection.

Can an OpenSim eSIM connect during an easyJet flight?

No. An eSIM connects to supported mobile networks on the ground. Use the airline's approved Wi-Fi in the air and the eSIM after landing where the selected package has coverage.

What to do before flying

  • Treat 2027 as the start of a phased rollout, not a fleetwide switch.
  • Check the aircraft and connectivity description again near departure.
  • Wait for easyJet to publish price, login and device rules.
  • Download tickets, maps, entertainment and vital documents.
  • Keep calls, exams and important deadlines off the inflight connection.
  • Compare arrival data separately and verify every destination in the package coverage.

What announcements will trigger the next review

easyJet's announcement supports the first-half 2027 start, early-2028 completion target, three named aircraft families and intended browsing, streaming and gaming uses. It does not settle pricing, first routes, login requirements, device limits, performance or communication rules.

Public traveler discussions were used to identify practical questions about flight mode, streaming, connection portals, VPNs, reliability and calls. They were not used as evidence for easyJet policy.

This page should be updated when easyJet identifies the first equipped aircraft or route, publishes an exact start date, adds a reliable availability label, announces price or access terms, or changes the fleet scope or completion target.
