Etihad A380 Bangkok flights are now operating

Etihad's first Airbus A380 service to Thailand reached Bangkok on the morning of October 26, 2026. The double-deck aircraft now operates every day on EY402 from Abu Dhabi and EY403 from Bangkok.

This is an aircraft change on one of Etihad's daily Bangkok services, not a new nonstop route. Etihad still sells other Abu Dhabi to Bangkok flights, so passengers who want the A380 need to book the correct flight number and recheck the aircraft before departure.

The practical answer: Choose EY402 from Abu Dhabi or EY403 from Bangkok if the A380 matters to you. EY402 arrives the next morning. EY403 leaves only two hours after the published EY402 arrival, so these flight numbers should not be treated as a same-aircraft connection plan. Confirm the dated booking, seat map and terminal details before travel.

Current EY402 and EY403 schedule

Etihad's October 26 operating announcement says the A380 has begun daily service between Zayed International Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. Its current timetable is:

FlightRouteDepartureArrivalFrequencyPublished aircraft
EY402Abu Dhabi to Bangkok9:20 PM6:35 AM next dayDailyAirbus A380
EY403Bangkok to Abu Dhabi8:35 AM12:20 PMDailyAirbus A380

All times are local. The first February announcement listed EY403 at 8:30 AM. The launch-day release moved that departure to 8:35 AM, so the newer table is the better reference. A ticket or schedule-change message for the specific date still takes priority.

An A380 can be replaced for operational reasons. Check that the booking shows EY402 or EY403 and an A380 seat map before paying for a seat chosen mainly for the aircraft.

What is different on Etihad's A380

The upper deck contains The Residence, nine First Apartments, 70 Business seats and The Lobby lounge area. The Residence is a three-room suite for up to two guests, with a living room, bedroom and private shower room. First Apartments have separate seats and beds, while Business seats provide direct aisle access and convert into lie-flat beds.

Economy occupies the main deck with 415 seats. Etihad lists a 32-inch seat pitch, an 18.95-inch width, USB charging and an 11.1-inch entertainment screen. Those measurements describe the airline's current A380 layout, not a promise about a particular seat's position, window alignment or distance from a galley.

Seat selection can cost extra in Economy Basic and Value. Comfort includes a standard seat, while Deluxe includes a preferred seat for tickets issued from June 18, 2026, subject to availability. Open the live seat map before paying because a window label does not guarantee an unobstructed view.

Baggage depends on the paid fare

For travel between the UAE and Thailand, Etihad's current fare table lists no checked bag in Economy Basic. Economy Value includes 25 kg, Comfort 30 kg and Deluxe 40 kg for tickets issued under the current rules. The booking confirmation remains the controlling record, especially on a mixed-airline itinerary.

Economy passengers may take one cabin bag up to 7 kg and 56 by 36 by 23 centimeters. Etihad's baggage FAQ does not promise a second personal item for Economy. Pack so the laptop, handbag and other small items can fit within the ticketed allowance if staff require consolidation.

No single checked bag may weigh more than 32 kg. Extra baggage is usually cheaper when bought online before the airport, but check the current price and deadline in Manage Your Booking rather than relying on an old quote.

Check-in and an early Bangkok departure

Online check-in opens 30 hours before departure. It lets eligible passengers upload documents, select a seat and download a boarding pass. A traveler may still need an airport desk check if the airline cannot verify a visa, passport or special-assistance request online.

EY403's 8:35 AM departure makes the morning plan important. Work backward from the check-in, bag-drop, security and boarding cutoffs shown for the booking. Bangkok traffic is not predictable enough to treat the road time from the city as a fixed transfer.

On arrival, follow signs for immigration, baggage claim and the licensed transport option you intend to use. The Airport Rail Link serves the airport from the lower level, but travelers should confirm current operating information on the airport site before building a late-night or disruption-sensitive plan around it.

Thailand entry and Abu Dhabi connections

All non-Thai nationals must submit the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card before entering Thailand. The Immigration Bureau says it can be submitted within the three days before arrival, including the arrival date. It is not a visa, and a fresh submission is required for each entry.

Visa rules depend on passport, residence and trip purpose. Use the official Thai immigration or embassy guidance for the traveler rather than treating another passenger's visa exemption as universal.

For a connection in Abu Dhabi, a through ticket normally gives the airline control of the onward itinerary. Still check the final destination on the bag tag and follow the transfer signs. Separate tickets can require entry permission, bag collection and a new check-in. Etihad's visa page explains its transit visa options, but eligibility and processing conditions apply.

Wi-Fi, phones and mobile data

Etihad says Wi-Fi is available on the A380. Etihad Guest members receive a complimentary Chat package for messaging, while unlimited access can be included with specified premium fares or bought onboard. Connection quality can vary, so save documents and entertainment before boarding.

After landing, an OpenSim Thailand eSIM is the focused choice for time in Bangkok and elsewhere in Thailand. An OpenSim United Arab Emirates eSIM covers time in Abu Dhabi. Open the selected product page before checkout and check its allowance, validity, speed conditions, hotspot terms and top-up eligibility.

An eSIM uses supported mobile networks on the ground. It does not replace Etihad's onboard Wi-Fi and should not be expected to work while the aircraft is in flight. Before purchase, confirm whether the phone supports eSIM and review when to install it.

Ten questions about Etihad's A380 Bangkok flights

Has Etihad started A380 flights to Bangkok?

Yes. Etihad says its first A380 service touched down in Bangkok on October 26, 2026 and began daily A380 operations on the route.

Which Etihad Bangkok flights use the A380?

EY402 from Abu Dhabi and EY403 from Bangkok are the published daily A380 services. Other Etihad flights between the cities may use different aircraft.

What time does EY402 arrive in Bangkok?

EY402 is scheduled to leave Abu Dhabi at 9:20 PM and arrive at 6:35 AM the next day. Both are local times.

What time does EY403 leave Bangkok?

The current launch-day timetable lists an 8:35 AM departure and a 12:20 PM arrival in Abu Dhabi. Older Etihad material shows 8:30 AM, so use the dated booking.

Is the A380 guaranteed when I book EY402 or EY403?

No aircraft type is immune from an operational substitution. Check the aircraft and seat map when booking, again after any schedule message, and before paying for a seat specifically because it is on the A380.

Which A380 Economy seat is best?

There is no universal best seat. A traveler who wants quick exit may value a forward row, while another may prefer distance from toilets or a particular wing view. Use the live seat map and compare the seat's fee, recline, window alignment and nearby facilities.

Does Etihad Economy include a checked bag to Bangkok?

Economy Basic does not include checked baggage under the current fare table. Value, Comfort and Deluxe include different weight allowances. Read the baggage line on the issued ticket because fare and partner sectors can change it.

Is Wi-Fi free on the Etihad A380?

Etihad Guest members receive free messaging through the Chat package. Broader Wi-Fi is complimentary on specified premium fares and for Platinum members, or available to buy onboard. Availability does not guarantee a particular speed.

When should I submit the TDAC for Bangkok?

All non-Thai nationals must submit a TDAC before entry. The official form is free and can be completed within the three days before arrival. It does not replace a visa when one is required.

Will my bag transfer in Abu Dhabi?

Check at the first airport. On a through ticket, confirm that the bag tag shows the final destination. A separate-ticket connection may require entry permission, baggage collection and a new check-in even when both flights use the same airport.

Before booking the Bangkok A380

  • Search EY402 or EY403 for the exact date.
  • Confirm that the aircraft and seat map show an A380.
  • Read the seat fee and restrictions before payment.
  • Use the baggage allowance printed on the ticket.
  • Allow for an airport document check even after online check-in.
  • Submit the official TDAC within the permitted window before Thailand entry.
  • Keep passport, medication, valuables and chargers in the cabin bag.
  • Check the final destination printed on every checked-bag tag.
  • Save the itinerary and entry confirmation offline.
  • Treat mobile data and inflight Wi-Fi as separate services.

How this Bangkok A380 guide was checked

Etihad's October 26 release establishes the completed inaugural arrival, daily A380 operation, current flight times and cabin layout. Its February announcement records the original plan and the older EY403 time. Current Etihad fare, baggage, check-in and onboard-service pages support the passenger guidance.

The Thailand Immigration Bureau supports the TDAC requirement and submission window. Public discussions were used to identify questions about seats, baggage, connections and Wi-Fi, not to establish airline or immigration policy. The OpenSim catalog was checked directly for live Thailand and UAE products.

We will review this guide if Etihad changes the aircraft, timetable, frequency or onboard product, or if the airline or Thai authorities materially change baggage, check-in or entry rules.
