Zuger Messe 2026: opening hours, tickets and the right train fare

Zuger Messe runs from October 24 to November 1, 2026, at the Stierenmarkt grounds in Zug. It is a public autumn exhibition with shopping, special displays, food and entertainment. Choose your visit day before booking: the grounds open at 10:30am on weekends but at 2pm on weekdays.
For visitors already staying in Zurich, Lucerne or Zug, this is an option for an afternoon around local businesses and hands-on exhibits. It is less suitable if you want a whole day of mountain scenery or a quiet museum visit. Decide which displays interest you, then check the fare for your actual journey rather than buying the first ticket labelled a bundle.
The photograph shows Zug Schutzengel station on December 30, 2005. It is an archive view of the railway approach, not a photograph of this year's exhibition, current station facilities or October weather.
Opening hours depend on the day
Exhibitor Zuger Kantonalbank's current event page gives the following hours:
| Visit dates | Grounds open |
|---|---|
| Saturday, October 24 and 31 | 10:30am to 10pm |
| Sunday, October 25 and November 1 | 10:30am to 6pm |
| Monday to Wednesday, October 26 to 28 | 2pm to 9pm |
| Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30 | 2pm to 10pm |
An exhibition closing time is not necessarily the end of restaurant or music activity. Check the dated entertainment programme for the performance you want, then plan your return separately. Do not assume a late restaurant finish means the exhibition halls remain open.
For a weekday visit, leave the morning for another activity or an unhurried journey. Arriving at 10:30am because a general event listing shows that time would leave a long wait before the grounds open.
Ticket choices: when the family ticket saves money
The official TICKETINO listing lists:
| Admission | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Adult | CHF16 |
| Youth aged 12 to 16, apprentices, students and AHV/IV categories | CHF14 |
| Children through age 11, accompanied by an adult | Free |
| Family ticket: two adults and their own children through age 16 | CHF36 |
| Personal pass for the nine exhibition days | CHF60 |
Two adults with children who qualify for free admission pay CHF32 individually, compared with CHF36 for the family option. With one paying teenager, those adults would pay CHF46 individually.
These comparisons exclude transport and optional spending. The listing overlaps its adult and youth wording at age 16; confirm the category for a 16-year-old before purchase.
The Zug transport bundle is not a Switzerland-wide ticket
The Tarifverbund Zug combination ticket includes admission and outward and return travel within Tarifverbund Zug. It provides direct exhibition access without exchanging the ticket at the cash desk.
| Local combination ticket | Second class | First class |
|---|---|---|
| Full-price adult | CHF20 | CHF24 |
| Eligible reduced category | CHF18 | CHF21 |
The operator lists reduced eligibility, including Half Fare holders and specified age or concession groups. Read that list with the required proof before selecting it.
For a visitor starting farther away, this local bundle is not proof that the whole journey from Zurich or Lucerne is included. Price the complete route. If you already hold suitable travel coverage, compare admission options without paying again for travel you do not need.
SBB separately advertises 10% off admission with its Event'n'Rail offer for the October 24 to November 1 dates. Follow the current SBB offer for the applicable travel and booking conditions. Do not assume this discount stacks with the local bundle, family ticket or another promotion.
Getting to the correct entrance
Zug Tourism identifies Zug Schutzengel on the S1 as a stop a few steps from the exhibition entrance. It gives roughly ten minutes on foot from Zug railway station as another option. These are different stations: save the full name when planning the last leg.
The ticket listing gives Stierenmarktareal, Allmendstrasse 7, 6300 Zug as the event location. Do not rely only on an office address shown in a site's footer.
Choose between the S1 connection and a walk based on your arriving train, luggage and mobility needs. Check the actual transfer and return services for your date. Saturday night and Sunday evening visits have different finishing times, so copying another day's return plan is not enough.
If driving, consult the parking availability service linked by the organizer before setting off. A space being listed now does not reserve it for your arrival. Leave time to walk from the car park, and arrange a meeting point outside the busiest entrance area if your group arrives separately.
What to see: choose displays that suit your group
The canton's October 21 police announcement confirms an interactive exhibition under the theme "117 Zahlen". Visitors can inspect a patrol vehicle, ask officers about their work, try a grip-strength challenge and use a radar-style photo booth with a free souvenir photograph. The police identify Hall A1; the organizer's special-exhibition list places the stand at A1.38. Read the canton's description.
The Zuger Farmers' Association also confirms a special exhibition for this edition. For a separate stop, Zuger Kantonalbank lists its digital-safe challenge at Hall B2, stand B2.03. Treat a competition as an optional activity, not a guaranteed prize or discount.
Start with the display your children or companions most want to see, then choose another nearby stop using the current hall plan. Leave room for food and browsing. A short visit with two worthwhile activities can be more enjoyable than crossing the grounds repeatedly to cover every stand.
Children, wheelchair access and dogs
The organizer's visitor information says the grounds and sanitary facilities are wheelchair accessible, with accessible parking directly by the Messegelände B entrance. Contact the organizer about your specific transfer, vehicle or assistance needs before travelling.
Mobiliar Kinderland is for children aged three and older. Its hours are shorter than the fair's late evenings: Monday to Friday 2pm to 6pm, Saturday 10:30am to 7pm, and Sunday 10:30am to 6pm. Ask staff about supervision, capacity and collection arrangements before leaving a child there; the opening-hours notice alone does not establish those terms.
The organizer prohibits dogs across the exhibition grounds. If you travel with an assistance dog, ask directly about your arrangements rather than inferring an exception from a general dog rule.
Bring a layer for the journey between the station and grounds and check the day's forecast. Indoor exhibits do not remove the outdoor walk, queues or transitions between areas. Plan a food break before children are tired, and confirm dietary requirements with the actual food vendor.
Useful apps and a connection plan
Use SBB Mobile for timetable enquiries, tickets and journey notifications. Save the exhibition ticket in the format its issuer supplies and open it before reaching the entrance. Keep the venue address, selected hall numbers and return journey somewhere you can read without loading a webpage.
OpenSim's practical advantage for an international visitor is a defined data allowance for checking connections and messaging companions, rather than relying on an unfamiliar roaming charge. On October 24, its Switzerland plans included 1GB for seven days at USD1.14 and 3GB for 15 days at USD3, both marked as supporting top-up. These are dated retail examples; final checkout totals can include fees or currency conversion.
An additional plan is unnecessary if your existing allowance already covers the trip adequately. Data service does not extend a rail ticket's validity, guarantee reception inside a hall or make an exhibition ticket work in an unsupported format.
For a longer itinerary, use our Switzerland with kids guide. Check your allowance with the travel data calculator, read the installation timing guide, and check phone compatibility before buying.
Sources and updates
Admission, transport offers, opening hours and visitor facilities were checked on October 24, 2026 against the linked organizer, ticket seller, transport operator, exhibitor and cantonal pages. Recheck the dated programme and your return journey before leaving. This guide will be updated for material changes to admission, the programme, access or transport during the exhibition's run.
