Referral Terms

1. Who can join

• You need an OpenSim account and you need to accept these terms on the referral page.
• You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live.
• Each account can join once.
• A friend can only be linked to you if they have never paid for an OpenSim purchase before. Existing customers cannot be referred.

2. How rewards are calculated

By default, you earn 5% of what your friend pays for an eSIM. We take the amount actually charged, remove the service fee, and convert the result to US dollars (USD). Each reward is saved with the exact rate and amount used on the day of the purchase, so later changes never alter past rewards.

A reward becomes store credit once any waiting period ends. By default there is no waiting period. Until then, it shows as pending.

Store credit your friend applies to an order is not part of the amount charged, so it earns nothing. Free orders earn nothing either.

3. The friend discount

• By default, your friend gets 5% off their first eSIM purchase. It does not apply to later purchases.
• It does not stack with other offers. If a coupon, a day-pass price or another discount gives a better price, that offer applies instead and your friend stays linked to you.
• Your friend is linked to you when they sign in after following your link, enter your code at checkout, or send your code from a supported app version. Once linked, they stay linked. Another referrer's link does not move them.

4. The earning period

By default, you earn on every new eSIM purchase your friend makes for 12 months, counted from the moment their account is linked to you. Purchases after that earn nothing. This applies whichever discount the order used, including a coupon that beat the friend discount.

Link clicks on their own never earn anything.

5. Top-ups

Top-ups to an existing eSIM do not earn rewards. Only new eSIM purchases do.

6. Fair use

• No self-referral. You cannot refer your own account, an account with the same or an equivalent email address (Gmail dot and plus variants count as the same address), or an account that pays with a payment card you have used.
• An order paid with a card already used by another account earns nothing. We only see the card after payment, so your friend may still get the discount on that order, but you will not earn on it.
• Do not post your code or link on coupon sites or deal sites.
• Do not use misleading claims, spam or fake accounts to promote your link.

7. Refunds and chargebacks

• A full refund reverses the whole reward. A partial refund reverses the matching share.
• A chargeback reverses the whole reward as soon as the dispute opens.
• The reversal comes out of your store credit balance.
• If you have already spent or cashed out that money, the shortfall is taken from your future rewards before any new credit is added.
• If we win a dispute, we may restore the reward by hand.

8. Store credit

• Store credit is the default reward. It is held in USD and does not expire.
• You spend it at checkout on the website. You do not need to type a code.
• Only credit earned through referrals can be cashed out. Credit from any other source can only be spent.

9. Cash-out

• Cash-out to PayPal is by invitation only. OpenSim turns it on for a referrer.
• By default, the minimum is 100 USD of cashable referral earnings.
• You request the full cashable amount, which is the smaller of your balance and your net referral earnings not yet cashed out.
• You make cash-out requests on the website only. The app does not offer them.
• The requested amount leaves your store credit straight away.
• We pay it by hand to the PayPal email you give us. If we reject the request, the amount returns to your store credit. Check the email address before you submit, because we cannot recover a payment sent to the wrong one.

You are responsible for any taxes that apply to what you earn.

10. Suspension and cancelled balances

OpenSim can suspend a referral account at any time if we believe these terms have been broken or the program is being abused. Suspending an account also turns off its referral code for new clicks and the friend discount. We can cancel a suspended referrer's unpaid balance and pending rewards. We may end or change the program. Apart from the cases in the refunds section and this one, we will not remove rewards you earned fairly before a change.

11. App support

The OpenSim website supports everything described on this page today. Referral codes and store credit in the mobile app arrive in a later app version, and this page will name that version when it ships.

Older app versions show no referral features and never get the friend discount. Purchases from a linked account in any app version still earn you your reward.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We change the version and date at the top of this page when we do. We will tell referrers about changes that affect rewards they have already earned.
