Consumenta 2026: which weekend to visit and what your ticket covers

Consumenta runs from October 31 to November 8, 2026, at Messe Nürnberg. The choice of date matters: inventions and maker activities run at the start, while classic cars arrive for the final weekend. Purchased online tickets include qualifying local transport to and from the fair; box-office tickets do not.
The organizer's October 22 announcement also confirms that early-booking prices end on October 25. Choose the programme you want before buying. A cheaper ticket for the wrong weekend will not get you into a companion event that has already finished.

Pick the Consumenta date that matches your interests
The organizer's current event overview separates the programme into these windows:
| Visit dates | What to plan around | Who should consider them |
|---|---|---|
| October 31-November 1 | Consumenta, Heimtier Messe, iENA and Hack & Make | Visitors who want pets, inventions and practical technology in the same visit |
| November 2 | Consumenta, iENA and Hack & Make | Visitors mainly interested in inventions and making |
| November 3-5 | Consumenta's main consumer-fair programme | Visitors with a particular exhibitor, household or regional interest |
| November 6-8 | Consumenta, Retro Classics Bavaria and Car & Style | Visitors planning around classic cars or modified vehicles |
The main fair opens 10:00-18:00, with admission ending at 17:00. These are not nine identical days, and a day ticket is not a pass for the full run.
What is worth making time for?
The October 22 organizer announcement describes the new robotics and emergency-services arenas within the technology-and-play offer, alongside board games, e-sports and other activities. The regional section and market hall provide a different reason to visit: browsing local businesses and food rather than spending the whole day looking at household products.
Treat this as a consumer fair where many stands are selling things. It suits a visitor who wants a demonstration, a specific purchase comparison or one of the companion events. It is less convincing as a special long-distance trip if you mainly want free samples or expect every exhibit to be new.
For a short visit, pick one main interest and one nearby section. Check the current exhibitor list before travelling for a named company. Leave space for a meal and a seated break rather than trying to cover every hall.
Inventions and hands-on technology at the opening weekend
iENA's visitor information confirms that ordinary visitors are welcome; there are no separate trade-only days. Its admission covers the simultaneously running fairs, but the November 2 Innovations Congress requires a separate ticket.
Hack & Make's own programme overview places it in Hall 4 from October 31 to November 2, with making, robotics, games and technical projects. That is the window to choose for a child or adult who would rather try something than browse retail displays. Check the individual activity's conditions before promising a particular workshop or turn on equipment.
Classic cars belong to the second weekend
Retro Classics Bavaria and Car & Style run on November 6-8. If those are your reason for coming, do not book the opening weekend on the strength of a general Consumenta advert. Likewise, a November 7 visit will not include the earlier iENA or Hack & Make programme.
Use the programme page for updates close to your visit. The organizer says it will continue adding details before opening; a broad activity description is not a reserved place at a particular session.
Admission prices and the October 25 deadline
The current ticket page, checked on October 24, lists:
| Ticket option | Published price | Timing or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Early-booking day ticket | EUR16 | Online through October 25 |
| Regular day ticket | EUR18 | From October 26 |
| Monday-Friday day ticket | EUR16 | Regular-price period |
| Monday-Friday afternoon ticket | EUR13 | Admission from 13:00 |
| Child, 6 to under 14 | EUR3 | With a parent or guardian |
| Young person, 14 to under 18 | EUR8 | With a parent or guardian |
Under-sixes enter free and receive their ticket at the box office. Compare the basket for your actual party; a family offer is not automatically the cheapest combination for younger children.
Follow the organizer's ticket link for the current purchase options. If the shop offers no selectable tickets, ask the organizer before committing to non-refundable travel. Do not assume that message proves the entire fair is sold out.
Online admission and VGN travel are not interchangeable with a box-office ticket
iENA's published transport terms cover travel to and from the fair throughout the VGN network on the visit day, until the end of service, including Nightliner services. Local rail travel is second class on trains without a surcharge.
This is a journey-to-the-fair benefit, not a Germany-wide rail pass or a promise of unlimited sightseeing. Your long-distance train to Nuremberg is a separate purchase unless its own conditions say otherwise. Arriving the evening before does not make that previous day's journey part of the fair ticket.
Online purchase matters even when the admission amount looks similar. A box-office ticket lacks the VGN inclusion. Have the issued ticket ready before starting a covered journey; an intention to buy admission after arrival is not a transport ticket.
The organizer's special-day offers have another trade-off: November 2's senior promotion and November 6's Freundinnen promotion are box-office-only and exclude VGN travel. Compare the full trip cost and eligibility rather than only the entry discount.
U1 to Messe, then choose the entrance
The fair's arrival guide directs rail arrivals from Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof onto U1 towards Langwasser Süd, getting off at Messe. It quotes about eight minutes on the train, not including finding the platform or reaching your hall.
The same guide lists extra U1 services between Messe and Gostenhof. The shorter interval applies during specified periods, not all evening. Use a dated journey plan for the return rather than assuming an extra service will wait for you.
| Arrival | Practical next step |
|---|---|
| Mainline train | Follow U1 signs at Hauptbahnhof, then choose the Langwasser Süd direction |
| U-Bahn at Messe | Follow signs towards the entrance you need; a free shuttle links NCC Mitte with NCC Ost |
| Car | Follow fair parking signs towards Große Straße; the organizer quotes EUR6 daily parking |
Save the entrance name as well as the venue address. For anyone who cannot manage a long walk, settle the entrance and shuttle route before arrival. Ask about wheelchair availability in advance rather than assuming equipment will be waiting.
Re-entry, bags and children: settle these before leaving home
The Consumenta visitor FAQ says a day ticket normally permits one entry. If you need to leave urgently and return, speak to fair management before exiting. Do not plan a casual lunch outside followed by another scan of the same ticket.
Medium-sized backpacks and trolleys are permitted, subject to checks; staff may ask you to leave them at a cloakroom if the halls become crowded. Small amounts of drinks for personal use are allowed. The FAQ lists cloakrooms or lockers at NCC Ost and NCC Mitte, Service 1, with a EUR2.50 cloakroom fee.
Changing and feeding rooms are in designated toilet areas. With younger children, choose one activity area, allow breaks and identify those facilities on arrival. Neither an exhibition photograph nor the word "family" establishes the age limit for a ride or technical activity.
The fair is not a substitute for a wider family itinerary. Our Germany with kids guide covers other destinations and routes if the fair does not fit your interests or travel dates.
Keep your fair ticket usable without a signal
The organizer supports downloadable PDF tickets and mobile-wallet storage. Save the actual ticket before travel and keep your phone charged. Do not depend on finding an email attachment at the entrance. Use the official VGN journey planner for your dated route, especially when your accommodation is outside Nuremberg's centre.
The fair provides free Wi-Fi. An existing German allowance or suitable roaming plan may be enough. For an overseas visitor who also needs maps, train updates and messages away from the venue, OpenSim's Germany plans are a separate data option. The public catalog checked on October 24 listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.14, with top-up supported on that plan. Review the selected package's conditions before buying. Mobile data does not extend the ticket's transport coverage or guarantee reception in a busy hall.
Check your likely usage with the travel data calculator, confirm phone compatibility, and read when to install an eSIM before travel. Downloaded tickets and a saved route remain useful even if you buy mobile data.
