Globe Traveler SIM perks add discounts for Philippines visitors

On October 26, 2026, Globe announced expanded perks for newly purchased Globe Prepaid Traveler SIMs in the Philippines. The announcement lists discounts for GrabCar rides, KKday bookings and purchases at selected Kultura stores. Each offer has a minimum spend, and the ride discount has a cap.

The Traveler SIM itself is not new. Globe had already advertised a GrabCar voucher in March 2026. The October news is the expanded set of partner perks, not the launch of the SIM or the first GrabCar benefit.

What the new partner offers cover

Globe says the perks are available with newly purchased Traveler SIMs. Its announcement gives these amounts:

  • GrabCar: 50% off an eligible ride with a minimum fare of PHP 300, capped at PHP 150.
  • KKday: PHP 150 off a booking of at least PHP 1,000. Globe describes the offer as sitewide.
  • Kultura: PHP 300 off a purchase of at least PHP 3,000 at selected stores.

A PHP 300 qualifying GrabCar fare reaches the PHP 150 cap. A higher fare does not increase the discount beyond that cap. For KKday and Kultura, compare the reduction with what you were already planning to spend; the minimum does not mean that a smaller purchase qualifies.

Globe's announcement does not state a redemption code, end date, stacking rules, participating Kultura store list or every account restriction. It also does not explain whether an older Traveler SIM qualifies for the expanded offers. Ask Globe for the current terms and check the partner's checkout or booking screen before paying. Do not budget for a discount until it appears on the transaction.

Globe describes the GrabCar offer as nationwide, but a voucher does not create ride service in a place where GrabCar is unavailable. Check the app for your pickup location and the specific ride type before relying on it.

Physical SIM or GlobeOne eSIM?

Globe sells physical Traveler SIMs at airport and other listed locations. Its Traveler SIM page lists different physical packages and an 80 GB eSIM option in GlobeOne. Do not assume every airport package is also available as an app purchase. Check the selected option's data, duration and final price before paying.

The Traveler eSIM help page lists an 80 GB, 30-day eSIM for PHP 1,750, with local calls and texts to mobile networks. Landline calls are excluded from that included allowance. Globe says the eSIM can be purchased and installed before arrival on a compatible, carrier-unlocked phone, then registered in the Philippines. It accepts Visa, Mastercard and JCB credit or debit cards for that purchase; bank fees may apply.

Globe's help page gives conflicting descriptions of when validity starts. One answer says activation begins on arrival, while another refers to the period running from purchase. Check the current terms with Globe before buying far ahead of a trip. The same page says purchased eSIMs are final and no refunds will be processed, so read the live policy before checkout.

For registration, Globe's SIM registration guidance lists a passport, proof of a Philippine address and a return or onward ticket for tourists. It says the registered tourist SIM is valid for 30 days. Keep the booking details accessible and follow the operator's current instructions. Globe says registration of its Traveler eSIM needs a texted one-time PIN received on its network in the Philippines.

When an OpenSim plan may fit better

Globe's local Traveler eSIM can suit a visitor who wants a Philippine mobile number, local calls and texts, a large allowance and the partner benefits. Check the voucher conditions and the registration process before deciding how much those features are worth to you.

OpenSim publishes this article and also sells travel data plans. On October 28, 2026, its Philippines eSIM page listed 1 GB for seven days at USD 2.60 and 3 GB for 15 days at USD 7. The public catalog marked both examples as eligible for top-up. For a short trip, estimate the data you expect to use before choosing an allowance; the plans are not equivalent to Globe's 80 GB local calling package. Prices and availability can change, so check the selected card before checkout.

If your itinerary includes other countries, compare a country plan with a regional plan and check each destination. Review when to install a travel eSIM before departure.

The OpenSim catalog lists Globe and Smart networks for those example plans. That does not guarantee a signal at a particular hotel, beach or ferry terminal. Ask your accommodation which network works at the property and save maps and booking details offline. If you need a local phone number or ordinary mobile calls and texts, check the exact plan's features rather than assuming they are included.

Questions about the Globe Traveler SIM perks

Which purchases qualify for the new perks?

Globe says the discounts are available with newly purchased Traveler SIMs. It has not published all account, redemption and existing-customer restrictions in the announcement. Confirm your selected purchase and the voucher terms with Globe.

How much can I save on GrabCar?

The announced offer is 50% off an eligible fare of at least PHP 300, capped at PHP 150. Globe advertised a GrabCar voucher before this announcement, so the voucher itself should not be treated as an entirely new feature.

What are the KKday and Kultura minimum spends?

Globe lists PHP 150 off a KKday booking of at least PHP 1,000 and PHP 300 off a Kultura purchase of at least PHP 3,000. The Kultura offer applies at selected stores. Check eligible products, locations, expiry and any additional conditions before purchase.

Can I buy the Traveler eSIM before I arrive?

Globe says visitors can buy and install the eSIM in GlobeOne before arrival, using a compatible unlocked device and an internet connection. Registration requires a PIN sent to the Globe eSIM on its Philippine network. Confirm the validity start with Globe because its help page currently describes it inconsistently.

Does Globe accept overseas payment cards?

Globe lists Visa, Mastercard and JCB credit and debit cards as accepted payment methods for the Traveler eSIM. Your bank may add a transaction or conversion fee. If a payment fails, check with the issuer and Globe rather than assuming a particular card will work.

What does a tourist need to register?

Globe lists a passport bio page and current visa stamp, proof of a Philippine address and a return or onward ticket for tourist registration. Requirements can differ for other visa categories. Follow Globe's current registration instructions and use accurate information.

Are local calls and texts included?

Globe says its listed 80 GB Traveler eSIM includes unlimited calls and texts to Philippine mobile networks for 30 days. Calls to landlines are not included in that allowance. Check the exact product and its current terms if choosing another package.

Can I share the Globe eSIM data with a hotspot?

Globe says the Traveler eSIM can share data through a mobile hotspot. Sharing uses the plan's data allowance. Check your phone's hotspot settings and the selected plan before relying on it for another device.

Can I add data or get a refund?

Globe says customers can buy additional data promos through GlobeOne, but those promos do not extend the eSIM's 30-day validity. Its current Traveler eSIM help page says confirmed purchases are final and refunds are not processed. Review the current terms and contact Globe if a service problem occurs.

Which plan should I choose for a short Philippines trip?

Compare the data you expect to use, need for a Philippine number, registration requirements and the value of discounts you can actually redeem. Globe's listed app eSIM has 80 GB and local calls and texts. OpenSim lists smaller fixed-data options, including the dated seven-day example above. Check coverage, device compatibility, plan terms and the current price for either choice.

Sources and updates

This article uses Globe's October 26 announcement, its March GrabCar announcement, Traveler SIM product and help pages, and its SIM registration guidance. OpenSim's Philippines plan examples were checked against the public catalog and product page on October 28, 2026. We will update this page when Globe publishes material changes to eligibility, redemption, expiry or plan terms. Check the provider's current terms before buying.
