Macau Food Festival 2026: dates, receipts and bus routes

The 26th Macau Food Festival runs from November 20 to December 6, 2026, at Sai Van Lake Square, beside Macau Tower. Admission is free; food purchases are separate. It opens at 4pm Monday to Thursday and 3pm Friday to Sunday, so plan an afternoon or evening visit rather than arriving for breakfast.
There is also a new reason to keep your receipts. An October 28 government announcement includes festival customers in an expanded community spending offer. Spending MOP100 does not mean you automatically get MOP100 back: the membership, receipt and coupon rules matter.
This guide helps you choose a date, make sense of that offer and reach the right side of Macao. The festival is on the peninsula, not at a Cotai hotel or the separate Southeast Asia Food Carnival.
Choose the correct opening window
The Macao Government Tourism Office's festival listing gives these hours and confirms free admission.
| Your visit | Published opening hours | What to allow for |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | 4pm-11pm | Lunch elsewhere, then travel to the festival |
| Friday to Sunday | 3pm-midnight | A longer afternoon window, but a separate return-transport deadline |
| Opening day, Friday November 20 | 3pm-midnight | Grand Prix weekend overlaps the opening |
| Final day, Sunday December 6 | 3pm-midnight | Midnight is the start of December 7 when dating the return journey |
These are event hours, not a promise that every dish remains available until closing. Choose your leaving time from your onward journey, the weather and the people travelling with you.
If your dates are flexible, compare an evening after November 22 with the opening weekend. The Macau Grand Prix runs November 19-22 and uses public streets. Check current traffic arrangements if combining the two. This guide does not assume a precise crowd count or a guaranteed quiet weekday.
What the MOP100 receipt offer gives you
The government has extended its community spending promotion for November 1-December 31. For the food festival, the participation rules specify MOP100 in same-day spending at participating businesses, supported by original transaction receipts. Reprints are not accepted. Take the receipts to the designated festival booth to collect the offer's redemption code.
The code is a step toward obtaining coupons, not cash or a refund for your meal. Participants must be MPass members, and the official page describes redemption through supported payment tools. Confirm that your account can complete the process before spending extra to reach the threshold.
The coupon bundles are randomly allocated, have minimum-spend conditions and are available while supplies last. They are for designated community merchants, not an unrestricted discount at every food stall. An internet connection lets you open the offer; it does not make a foreign card, wallet or account eligible.
For a practical decision: if you were already planning to spend MOP100, keep the receipts and ask staff how to claim. If you planned a smaller snack stop, do not order another meal solely for an uncertain benefit.
Check the coupon's spending threshold and expiry
The official rules illustrate why the bundle's face value is not the amount you should subtract from tonight's food budget. The largest advertised bundle includes a MOP100 coupon requiring MOP368 of qualifying spending. You cannot treat that one coupon as MOP100 of free food without the associated purchase.
Accounts may obtain up to two bundles per week. Coupons have short validity: the rules give the example of a November 1 claim expiring at 11.59pm on November 3, with the promotion's final deadline overriding later dates. Read the actual coupon's expiry and merchant conditions in your account.
That makes the offer more useful to someone staying long enough to make a planned purchase at a participating merchant than to someone leaving immediately after dinner. Confirm the merchant and threshold before ordering there. Do not let a coupon push your spending beyond what the meal or purchase is worth to you.
Payment preparation matters more than having every app
Keep the festival food budget separate from the community offer. Free entry does not mean free dishes, and an offer card does not pay for the bus home.
Ask each vendor which payment methods it accepts before placing an order. Do not assume a Mastercard, an overseas-linked wallet or a payment setup that worked in Hong Kong will work at every Macao stall. Carry a payment backup you can actually use, and check any fees with your own bank or provider.
The official offer page names WeChat, Alipay, AlipayHK and MPay as routes into the promotion, alongside its membership requirement. That is not a guarantee that every account registered abroad can claim. Avoid creating an account hurriedly at the front of a queue or sharing documents with an unofficial helper.
Save original receipts together somewhere dry. A photograph is useful for your records, but it does not replace the originals required by the published offer rules.
Pick food from this year's menus, not an old stall list
The organizer's September briefing, reported by Macao Daily, planned around 150 local food businesses. That is an expected participation figure, not a confirmed list of every stall or dish. Local businesses can prepare a range of cuisines; the number does not mean 150 overseas vendors are coming.
Choose by what is actually available when you visit. Read the menu and portion size before ordering, and ask the vendor about ingredients you need to avoid. A photograph from a previous edition cannot establish this year's recipe or price.
One person might prefer a meal and a drink; a group may want to share smaller items from several vendors. Agree on that before everyone buys a full meal. Leave room to change your mind after seeing the menus rather than treating an online list as an obligation.
Live performances and booth games are part of the tourism office's event description. Check the current programme for anything you particularly want to see; the general description does not establish an individual performance time.
Get to Sai Van Lake Square by Macau Tower
Save Sai Van Lake Square / Macau Tower as the destination. The Tower's transport page identifies bus stop M177, Torre de Macau / Macau Tower, with several routes serving it.
| Starting point | Route described by Macau Tower | Check before travelling |
|---|---|---|
| Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal | Bus32 to M177 | The correct terminal stop and current service notices |
| Taipa Ferry Terminal | Bus26 to M177 | It is a different terminal and journey from Outer Harbour |
| Barra LRT station | Bus60 or65 from the Barra transport interchange | The transfer and return service, not just the train ride |
Use these as route-planning starting points, then check the Transport Bureau's current bus information. The Tower's usual journey estimates do not include festival queues, temporary diversions or finding the current entrance.
For a taxi, keep the full venue name available for the driver and follow the day's lawful drop-off arrangements. You do not need to buy an observation-deck ticket merely because Macau Tower is your landmark; the festival's published admission is separate.
Do not build the return around an unconfirmed shuttle
Macao Daily's September report says the previous Border Gate festival shuttle was cancelled because of construction. A Hengqin route and temporary parking were being sought. A proposal in that report is not a timetable you can use to book a return connection.
Check the organizer's latest notice before relying on either arrangement. Regular public buses, hotel shuttles and festival shuttles have different stops, hours and conditions. The Tower also describes hotel shuttle connections, but their existence does not prove that a particular bus will take your group after midnight.
If returning to Hong Kong, confirm your actual ferry terminal or bridge departure point. Work backward through leaving the food area, reaching the stop, collecting luggage if needed and completing the onward journey. Do not choose the festival's closing time as your departure time by default.
Plan an evening that works for your group
An early part of the published opening window can fit children or older companions better than a late finish, depending on your journey. It is a pacing suggestion, not a forecast that the site will be uncrowded.
For a family visit, find the current toilets, resting places and exit before buying several hot dishes. Check the actual paths with a stroller or wheelchair rather than inferring access from an archive photograph. Ask the organizer about specific facilities before travelling if they determine whether you can attend.
Keep the daytime plan light enough to leave energy for the evening. Our Macao family guide covers the wider peninsula, Taipa and Coloane; this page stays with the festival visit.
Check the official Macao weather service and event notices close to your visit. The festival is outdoors, so a wet evening may call for a shorter visit or another meal plan. Neither food availability nor comfortable seating is guaranteed by the advertised opening hours.
Useful phone tools for the festival and the journey home
Keep the Transport Bureau bus information available for current routes and temporary changes. Save your accommodation address, the correct ferry terminal and the Tower stop name before leaving Wi-Fi. A saved map helps with orientation; a fresh service notice still needs a connection.
Open the government promotion from its official rules page, then follow its supported payment-tool instructions. Check membership before the visit. Do not assume a phone screenshot of an offer is a transferable coupon.
Mobile data is useful for checking departures, translating a menu and contacting your group if you split up. Agree on a meeting place as a backup, and keep enough battery for the return journey rather than spending it all on food videos.
OpenSim for Macao alone or a Hong Kong side trip
Checked October 30, the public OpenSim Macao catalog listed 1 GB for 7 days at USD 1.92 and 3 GB for 15 days at USD 4.92, both fixed-data plans with top-up support. A small destination allowance can suit a food-festival visit when your main tasks are maps, messages and transport updates, without buying a broader plan solely for one evening.
If your trip also includes Hong Kong or mainland China, compare the verified China, Hong Kong and Macao regional option. Check the chosen plan's country list rather than assuming a Macao-only or Hong Kong-only plan covers the border crossing.
Included home roaming may already be the simpler choice. OpenSim supplies mobile data; it does not confer MPass membership, approve a payment account, reserve a table or guarantee reception in a crowd. Check phone compatibility, installation timing and the travel data calculator before choosing an allowance.
Festival sources and the next update
Checked October 30, 2026, against the tourism office's 26th-edition listing, the October 28 government announcement, the promotion's current participation rules, Macau Tower's transport guidance and September reporting of the organizer's briefing. Menus, payment acceptance, shuttle notices and offer availability need another check before November 20.

We will update this page when the organizer publishes material menu, visitor-access, payment or transport changes. After December 6, treat this edition as dated coverage until another year is officially announced.
