TAP Air Portugal will begin nonstop flights between Lisbon and Keflavik Airport on April 1, 2027. The route will run three times a week until October 28, giving Portugal and Iceland their first TAP-operated direct link for the summer season.

The schedule is bookable on TAP's website. It has one detail worth planning around: the Lisbon flight lands in Iceland at 12:55 a.m., and the return leaves at 1:45 a.m. Travelers should settle the airport transfer and hotel check-in before choosing a fare.

Unbranded aircraft crosses a conceptual route between Lisbon and Iceland

Original AI-generated OpenSim editorial image. The unbranded aircraft and blended Lisbon-Iceland landscape are conceptual and do not show TAP, either airport or a real flight.

The practical answer: The new route is useful for a direct Portugal-Iceland trip or a through booking over Lisbon. Search TP772 and TP773 for the exact date, price the fare with the bags you need, and reserve a late-night transfer from Keflavik before paying for a non-refundable hotel.

The route is scheduled for summer 2027 and may change before the first flight.

TAP's Lisbon-Reykjavik schedule

Keflavik Airport announced the service on October 28. Its notice says TAP will fly three times weekly from April 1 through October 28, 2027. TAP's own fare pages now show Lisbon-Reykjavik and Reykjavik-Lisbon itineraries for the operating period, so this is a bookable route rather than a proposal.

The published timetable uses local time:

FlightRouteDaysScheduled time
TP772Lisbon (LIS) to Keflavik (KEF)Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday9:05 p.m. to 12:55 a.m. the next day
TP773Keflavik (KEF) to Lisbon (LIS)Wednesday, Friday and Sunday1:45 a.m. to 7:25 a.m.

AeroRoutes' schedule filing lists an Airbus A320neo. Treat the aircraft as planned rather than guaranteed. Airlines can swap equipment, and the booking should be checked again if a particular seat or cabin feature matters.

Iceland stays on GMT throughout the year, while Lisbon observes daylight saving time during this season. Compare local dates, not just the clock times, when adding a hotel, rental car or onward flight.

The Reykjavik flight uses Keflavik Airport

TAP markets the destination as Reykjavik, but the international airport is Keflavik, code KEF. It is about 50 kilometres from central Reykjavik. Do not confuse it with Reykjavik Domestic Airport, code RKV.

That distinction matters most after TP772. The scheduled 12:55 a.m. arrival is outside the current operating hours shown for public bus 55. Keflavik Airport says Flybus coaches run around the clock in coordination with flights and normally leave about 40 minutes after arrivals. Taxis are also available at all hours.

The 2027 ground timetable is not published yet. Check it again for the travel date, reserve a coach if required and tell the accommodation about the after-midnight arrival. A hotel night belongs to the calendar date after departure from Lisbon.

Price the TAP fare with baggage included

TAP's current economy cabin allowance is one hand bag up to 10 kg and 55 x 40 x 25 cm, plus one personal item up to 2 kg and 40 x 30 x 15 cm. The airline warns that compliant cabin bags may still be placed in the hold on a busy flight.

Checked baggage depends on the fare, route and status. TAP's published table for Europe shows that some economy products include one 23 kg checked bag while the lowest product may not. Read the allowance attached to the exact itinerary instead of assuming every fare includes a suitcase.

Online check-in currently opens 36 hours before most TAP flights. The airline also says passengers must be at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before departure. Airport counter and bag-drop deadlines vary, so use the current booking and airport display for the final cutoff.

Plan Lisbon connections as a complete itinerary

Keflavik Airport highlights onward access over Lisbon to Faro, Madeira, Africa and South America. A single through ticket can make that network useful, but a route announcement does not prove that every connection is available or protected.

Search the complete origin and destination together. Then check the operating carrier, connection time, terminal, baggage routing and arrival date shown on the ticket. If the flights are bought separately, allow time to collect and recheck baggage and accept that a delay on the first ticket may not protect the second.

Portugal and Iceland are both in the Schengen Area, but the required document still depends on nationality and the wider itinerary. EU travelers should carry a valid passport or national identity card. Other travelers should check the rules that apply to them, especially when arriving in Lisbon from outside Schengen before connecting to Iceland.

Mobile data for Lisbon, Iceland and a wider Europe trip

A Portugal OpenSim eSIM can cover eligible ground use during a Lisbon stay, while an Iceland eSIM can support maps, airport transfers and accommodation messages after arrival.

For a trip that includes both countries, compare an eligible Europe OpenSim eSIM with two country plans. Check the current coverage list, allowance, validity, hotspot field and top-up field on the exact package before purchase.

Install the eSIM on an unlocked compatible phone while reliable Wi-Fi is available. Keep the usual SIM accessible if TAP, a hotel or a bank sends verification texts to the existing number. An eSIM supplies ground-based mobile data on supported networks. It does not provide inflight Wi-Fi or protect a flight connection.

Ten questions about TAP's new Iceland route

When do TAP's Lisbon-Reykjavik flights start?

The first scheduled Lisbon departure is April 1, 2027. Keflavik Airport says the three-weekly seasonal service runs through October 28, 2027.

Which days will TAP fly between Lisbon and Iceland?

TP772 is scheduled from Lisbon on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. TP773 returns from Keflavik on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Is the airport in central Reykjavik?

No. The flight uses Keflavik Airport, about 50 kilometres from central Reykjavik. KEF is not Reykjavik Domestic Airport, RKV.

Can I get to Reykjavik after the 12:55 a.m. arrival?

The airport currently says Flybus coaches meet flights around the clock and taxis are available 24 hours. Public bus 55 is not an overnight service. Confirm the 2027 timetable and accommodation check-in before travel.

Is the route already bookable?

Yes. TAP's official fare pages show selected 2027 Lisbon-Reykjavik and Reykjavik-Lisbon itineraries. A displayed fare can change, so compare the final total after adding bags and seats.

Does a TAP economy fare include checked baggage?

Not every fare does. The allowance depends on the product shown in the booking. Open the fare details and confirm the number and weight of checked bags before payment.

What aircraft will TAP use?

The initial published schedule lists an Airbus A320neo. Aircraft substitutions are possible, so check the current booking if seat layout or another aircraft-specific feature matters.

Will my bag transfer on a Lisbon connection?

It normally depends on the ticket and itinerary. Ask at the first airport where the bag is tagged, and confirm the destination printed on the receipt. Separate tickets may require collection and recheck in Lisbon.

Do I need a passport between Portugal and Iceland?

Document rules depend on nationality. EU citizens can travel with a valid passport or national identity card, but should still carry it. Non-EU travelers must check their own entry and transit requirements.

Will one OpenSim eSIM cover Portugal and Iceland?

An eligible Europe package can cover both. Read its live country list and package terms before choosing it over separate Portugal and Iceland plans.

Before booking TP772 or TP773

  • Search the full return trip, not only the cheapest outbound date.
  • Confirm the airport codes LIS and KEF.
  • Price seats and baggage before comparing the final fare.
  • Reserve a late-night airport transfer for the Iceland arrival.
  • Tell the hotel that check-in will be after midnight.
  • Check whether an onward flight is on the same ticket.
  • Recheck the operating aircraft and schedule closer to departure.
  • Carry the travel document required for the complete itinerary.

Sources and updates

The Keflavik Airport announcement supports the seasonal dates, frequency and Lisbon connection context. AeroRoutes provides the filed flight numbers, local timetable, operating days and planned aircraft. TAP's official fare, check-in and baggage pages were checked for sale status and current passenger rules.

Keflavik Airport's transport guide and Lisbon Airport's check-in guidance were used for airport planning. Travelers should recheck dated ground transport and airline instructions before departure.

OpenSim will update this URL if TAP changes the launch date, seasonal end, frequency, timetable, airport, flight numbers or operating status.
