Uganda Airlines launched its Entebbe to Accra service on October 27, 2026. Flight UR900 reached Accra that afternoon, opening a four-times-weekly link between Uganda and Ghana.

There is one detail worth understanding before booking: the flight stops in Lagos. It is sold as a direct service because one flight number covers the journey, but it is not nonstop. The airline had not published a clear passenger procedure for the Lagos stop when this guide was checked, so do not assume you will stay on board or avoid a document check.

Illustrated unbranded aircraft on an Entebbe, Lagos and Accra route

*Original OpenSim editorial illustration. It shows a generic aircraft and an imagined three-city route, not Uganda Airlines' livery, the inaugural flight or a literal view of the airports.*

The practical answer: UR900 leaves Entebbe at 10:00 and continues from Lagos at 13:30 for Accra. UR901 leaves Accra at 19:00, stops in Lagos and reaches Entebbe at 04:55 the next day. The filed pattern is Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Times are local and can change, so use the issued itinerary for the exact date.

Uganda Airlines' Entebbe-Accra schedule

The filed launch schedule gives these times for the four weekly flights.

FlightRoutePublished daysDepartureIntermediate stopArrival
UR900Entebbe to AccraTuesday, Thursday, Friday and SundayEntebbe 10:00Lagos 12:30 to 13:30Accra 13:55
UR901Accra to EntebbeTuesday, Thursday, Friday and SundayAccra 19:00Lagos 21:25 to 22:25Entebbe 04:55 next day

All times are local. Uganda is three hours ahead of Ghana and two hours ahead of Nigeria. Once those clock differences are included, each scheduled journey takes six hours and 55 minutes from the first departure to the final arrival. That includes the one-hour scheduled stop in Lagos.

The first UR900 reached Accra on October 27, confirming that the route started. A completed launch does not lock every future time, however. Uganda Airlines' conditions of carriage say published schedules may change, so check flight status and the latest message from the airline before leaving for the airport.

Direct does not mean nonstop on this route

Uganda Airlines and launch coverage describe Entebbe-Accra as direct. In airline language, a direct flight can make a stop while keeping the same flight number. UR900 and UR901 both call at Lagos between Uganda and Ghana.

That distinction affects more than journey time. The public timetable does not say whether Accra passengers remain seated, wait in a transit area or pass through a document check in Lagos. Aircraft and ground procedures can also change. Ask Uganda Airlines what happens on your date, especially if your passport has transit or health-document conditions for Nigeria.

Do not build a tight onward connection from the advertised five-hour flying claim. Use the arrival time on the ticket, then add a sensible buffer for immigration, baggage and any delay at Kotoka International Airport.

The flight uses a wet-leased Ethiopian Airlines aircraft

The launch schedule lists a Boeing 737-800 supplied by Ethiopian Airlines under a wet lease. In this arrangement, the aircraft and operating crew come from Ethiopian Airlines while Uganda Airlines markets the UR flight and controls the passenger booking.

This does not turn UR900 into an Ethiopian Airlines connection in Addis Ababa. It remains the Entebbe-Lagos-Accra service shown on the Uganda Airlines ticket. It does mean that the aircraft exterior, cabin details or onboard service may not match what a traveler expects from Uganda Airlines' own fleet.

Check the operating information and seat map in Manage Booking. An airline can substitute an aircraft for operational reasons, so do not buy around one exact seat, cabin image or power outlet unless the airline confirms it for the flight.

Terminals and airport preparation

The Accra arrival uses Terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport. Published schedule listings place the Lagos stop at the international Terminal 2. At Entebbe, follow the international departures signs and the terminal details on the booking because airport assignments can change.

Uganda Airlines does not publish one universal check-in cutoff in its conditions. It tells passengers to follow the deadline supplied for the airport and flight. Plan to arrive well before that deadline, with time for document checks, baggage acceptance, security and exit controls.

For the return journey, remember that UR901 lands in Entebbe at 04:55. Arrange an airport pickup or a flexible transfer before departure rather than relying on daytime transport options after an overnight flight.

Cabin bags are capped at 7kg in Economy

Uganda Airlines' published cabin policy allows an Economy passenger one cabin bag and one personal item with a combined maximum weight of 7kg. The cabin bag dimensions are 56 x 45 x 25cm. Business Class has a different allowance.

The public checked-baggage fare table had not added Accra when this article was reviewed. That makes an older allowance for Lagos or another West African route a poor substitute for the actual Ghana ticket. Use the allowance printed on the e-ticket or in Manage Booking and ask the airline if it is missing.

A wet-leased aircraft does not automatically replace the baggage terms sold with the Uganda Airlines booking. Still, size, safety and cabin-space limits are applied at the airport, so keep essentials and medicine within the confirmed cabin allowance.

Documents for the Lagos stop need a passport-specific check

Uganda Airlines says passengers are responsible for documents required by every country they enter or transit. The route touches Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana, but the correct visa, health and transit answer depends on citizenship, residence, journey history and whether Lagos requires passengers to leave the aircraft or transit area.

The airline had not published enough detail to answer that procedure for everyone. Contact Uganda Airlines with the exact flight, passport and travel date. If official immigration advice and an airline agent differ, ask for written confirmation or use the more restrictive requirement until it is resolved.

Keep the passport, ticket, any required health record and onward booking easy to reach. A direct flight label does not remove a country's right to check documents during an intermediate stop.

Mobile data for Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria

For a trip that stays at one end of the route, compare the Uganda OpenSim eSIM or Ghana OpenSim eSIM. The Africa OpenSim eSIM currently covers Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana, which can suit a trip with ground time in all three countries.

When checked on October 28, the live catalog showed five Uganda packages starting at USD8.20 per day and five Ghana packages starting at USD3.14 per day. The Africa regional range had three fixed-data packages, starting with 1GB for seven days at USD11.40. Prices, networks, validity and top-up eligibility are package-specific and can change.

An eSIM provides mobile data after the phone connects to a supported ground network. It does not work as inflight Wi-Fi, settle a transit requirement or guarantee that cellular service may be used during the Lagos stop. Check whether your phone supports eSIM and when to install it before travel.

Ten questions about Uganda Airlines Entebbe-Accra flights

Has Uganda Airlines started flying from Entebbe to Accra?

Yes. The inaugural UR900 arrived in Accra on October 27, 2026. The published service operates four times a week, but each later flight remains subject to operational changes.

Is the Entebbe-Accra flight nonstop?

No. It is a direct flight with the same UR900 or UR901 flight number, but it makes an intermediate stop in Lagos. A nonstop flight would travel between Entebbe and Accra without that stop.

Which days do UR900 and UR901 operate?

The filed schedule is Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday in both directions. Search the exact travel date because a timetable can change after publication.

How long does the Entebbe-Accra journey take?

The scheduled elapsed time is six hours and 55 minutes, including one hour in Lagos. Local clock times can make the journey look shorter because Ghana is three hours behind Uganda.

Do passengers leave the aircraft in Lagos?

The airline had not published a clear rule when this guide was checked. Ask Uganda Airlines about the procedure for the exact date rather than assuming passengers remain on board, change aircraft or pass through a transit check.

Do I need a Nigerian transit visa for the Lagos stop?

There is no safe universal answer without the airline's stop procedure and the traveler's passport details. Check Nigeria's official rules and ask Uganda Airlines whether the journey requires immigration clearance or any transit document.

Who operates the aircraft?

Uganda Airlines sells the UR900 and UR901 service. The launch schedule uses a wet-leased Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800, meaning Ethiopian supplies the aircraft and operating crew. A substitution remains possible.

Where does UR900 stop at each airport?

Kotoka International Airport uses Terminal 3 for the Accra service. Current schedule listings show Lagos Terminal 2 for the intermediate stop. Confirm every terminal on the boarding pass and airport screens.

What bag allowance applies on the Accra route?

Economy cabin baggage is one bag plus a personal item with a combined 7kg limit. The public checked-bag table did not yet show Accra, so the allowance on the e-ticket or in Manage Booking is the reliable limit for this route.

Should I buy a Ghana, Uganda or Africa eSIM?

Choose the country plan if the trip stays mainly in Uganda or Ghana. Compare the Africa plan for ground travel across Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana. Buy for the places where you will actually use mobile data, not simply because the aircraft stops there.

Final checks before booking UR900 or UR901

  • Search the exact date and keep the latest issued itinerary.
  • Treat the service as direct via Lagos, not nonstop.
  • Ask the airline what passengers do during the Lagos stop.
  • Check passport-specific transit, entry and health documents for all relevant countries.
  • Confirm the operating aircraft, terminal and check-in deadline.
  • Use the baggage allowance printed on the ticket.
  • Read every departure and arrival in local time.
  • Leave room after arrival for immigration, baggage and an onward transfer.
