FlyArystan Astana-Yining flights: schedule and check-in
FlyArystan's direct Astana-Yining flights are now operating three times a week. The first FS7989 service flew on October 26, 2026, and the current timetable has departures on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Yining is also called Kulja or Ghulja. The route removes a connection for travelers heading between Kazakhstan's capital and the Ili valley, but its local-time display, China check-in rules and low-cost baggage limits deserve a careful read before booking.

FlyArystan's Astana-Yining schedule
FlyArystan's live Astana to Yining route page lists flights through March 27, 2027. The published times are local to each airport:
| Flight | Route | Operating days | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FS7989 | Astana (NQZ) to Yining (YIN) | Monday, Wednesday and Saturday | 07:55 | 13:20 |
| FS7990 | Yining (YIN) to Astana (NQZ) | Monday, Wednesday and Saturday | 15:20 | 14:50 |
The return flight does not travel back in time. China uses Beijing time, three hours ahead of Astana, so a roughly two-and-a-half-hour flight can leave Yining at 15:20 and reach Astana at 14:50 on the same calendar day.
The airport terminal is not stated consistently across secondary flight services. Use the terminal on the booking, boarding pass and airport display rather than relying on a third-party listing.
The final launch plan changed from the first announcement
FlyArystan's original August announcement named an October 28 start with two flights a week. The final operating plan moved the launch to October 26 and added Monday, creating a Monday, Wednesday and Saturday pattern.
Qazinform's report from the launch day says FS7989 left Astana at 07:55 on an Airbus A320 and took about two hours and 25 minutes. The live airline page is the better source for future dates because it reflects the revised schedule rather than the earlier plan.
Schedules can still change after launch. Check the exact date in FlyArystan's booking system and keep the contact details in the reservation current so the airline can send updates.
China check-in guidance conflicts, so use the live reservation
FlyArystan currently publishes two different opening windows for China flights. The Astana-Yining route page says free online check-in opens 72 hours before departure. The airline's general check-in page says it opens 10 days before flights to or from China.
Do not plan around either opening time. Try the check-in link in the booking when it becomes available, finish every step, and confirm that the reservation shows check-in as complete. Selecting a seat by itself does not complete the process.
The airport deadline is clearer. FlyArystan's check-in and boarding rules say international counters open three hours before departure and close 60 minutes before departure. Passengers should be at the gate no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
International passengers still need a document check. Even after online check-in, leave enough time for the airline to inspect passports and travel documents and issue or confirm the boarding pass.
One cabin bag means one piece, not a bag plus a personal item
FlyArystan's current hand-baggage rules allow one free cabin piece up to 7 kg and 56 x 23 x 36 cm. A laptop, camera or handbag counts within that one-piece allowance rather than sitting outside it.
The airline says it checks cabin baggage at boarding. If the bag is too heavy, too large or split into extra pieces, airport charges can apply. Weigh and measure it before leaving home. Checked baggage and larger cabin allowances depend on the fare bundle or paid extras, so read the booking confirmation instead of assuming a suitcase is included.
Extra services for an international flight generally need to be added no later than three hours before departure. Buying the needed allowance earlier also makes the total trip price easier to compare.
Treat any onward flight as a self-transfer
FlyArystan operates point to point. If Astana or Yining is only one part of a longer itinerary on separate tickets, expect to collect checked baggage, complete any required border process, and check in again for the next flight.
That matters most in Astana, where a domestic or international connection may look comfortable until baggage collection, terminal movement and the 60-minute check-in cutoff are included. Leave a generous buffer and consider an overnight stop if a missed connection would be costly.

Check passport rules and complete China's arrival card
The new flight does not change entry eligibility. Travelers should check the rule for their passport, purpose and length of stay before paying for a nonrefundable ticket.
China and Kazakhstan's bilateral agreement covers eligible ordinary-passport holders for specified visits of up to 30 days per entry, with a total limit of 90 days in any 180-day period. It does not cover every passport or purpose. Read the official agreement notice and seek official advice if the trip involves work, study, a longer stay or another passport.
Foreign travelers can fill in China's arrival information online before travel. The official notice on the foreign arrival card also says travelers who cannot complete it in advance can use a QR code, a port device or a paper card on arrival. Some categories are exempt, so use the official form and instructions rather than an unofficial lookalike site.
Mobile data for Kazakhstan and Yining
Travelers staying mainly on one side can compare the Kazakhstan OpenSim eSIM or China OpenSim eSIM. The Asia 20 areas OpenSim eSIM is the route-wide option whose current destination list includes both Kazakhstan and mainland China.
Package allowance, speed, hotspot support and top-up eligibility vary. Check the full package terms and destination list before paying. Install on reliable Wi-Fi before the trip, then follow the package's activation instructions so its validity does not start too early.
Keep the eSIM QR code, hotel address and booking details available offline. If the usual SIM remains active for calls or verification messages, turn off its data roaming unless those charges are intentional. Before purchase, check whether the phone supports eSIM and when to install an eSIM before travel.
Ten questions about FlyArystan Astana-Yining flights
Is the Astana-Yining route already operating?
Yes. Qazinform reported that the first FS7989 service flew on October 26, 2026. FlyArystan's live route page now lists the route on three days each week.
Which days and times does FlyArystan fly between Astana and Yining?
FS7989 is published for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 07:55 from Astana, arriving at 13:20. FS7990 leaves Yining on the same three days at 15:20 and arrives in Astana at 14:50. All times are local.
Why does FS7990 arrive before its departure time?
Yining follows Beijing time, which is three hours ahead of Astana. The time-zone change is longer than the roughly two-and-a-half-hour flight, so the clock in Astana shows an earlier time on arrival.
When does online check-in open for Yining flights?
FlyArystan's pages conflict: the route page says 72 hours, while its general check-in page says 10 days for China flights. Use the live link in the reservation and make sure the process completes. The international airport counter closes 60 minutes before departure.
When should I arrive at Astana or Yining airport?
FlyArystan says its international counters open three hours before departure. Arriving near that opening time gives room for document checks, bag drop, security and border control. A separately ticketed inbound flight needs a much larger margin.
What cabin baggage is included?
The current free allowance is one piece up to 7 kg and 56 x 23 x 36 cm. Personal items count within that single piece. Checked baggage or a larger cabin allowance depends on the purchased bundle and extras.
Will FlyArystan transfer my bag to another flight?
Do not assume it will. FlyArystan describes its service as point to point, so a self-transfer normally means collecting the bag and checking in again. Confirm any claimed exception with both airlines before booking a tight connection.
Do I need a visa or a China arrival card?
Visa eligibility depends on the passport and purpose of travel. Eligible ordinary Kazakhstan passport holders have a bilateral exemption for covered short visits, but other travelers need their own rule. Most foreign arrivals also complete China's arrival information online or at the border unless an exemption applies.
Which OpenSim plan covers both Kazakhstan and China?
The Asia 20 areas destination currently includes both countries. A country plan can be cheaper or simpler for a one-country trip, so compare the live allowance, validity and package terms rather than choosing by route name alone.
Is Yining practical for a short visit without speaking Mandarin?
A short visit is possible, but prepare more than an airport transfer. Save addresses in Chinese, set up a payment method and translation tool before arrival, and research transport for any trip beyond the city. Sayram Lake and other Ili destinations can require a separate driver or longer travel time, so they should not be treated as quick city stops.
Booking checks for the Astana-Yining route
Confirm that the exact date is on sale, then check the local times, terminal, fare-specific baggage and final check-in deadline in the booking. Make sure the passport rule fits the actual traveler, not just the route, and allow enough time for any self-transfer.
The current timetable is more useful than the original launch announcement because the start date and frequency changed before the first flight. Recheck FlyArystan's live route page for future schedule changes.
