Allegiant scheduled a new nonstop route between Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) from Friday, October 2, 2026. Kansas City airport announced a twice-weekly Monday and Friday pattern.

The route remains on sale. When this guide was checked on October 4, Allegiant's official booking pages showed upcoming trips in both directions. Fares and operating dates vary, so use the result for your exact day rather than treating every Monday and Friday as guaranteed.

The practical answer: This nonstop can remove a connection between Kansas City and South Florida, but two flights a week leave little recovery room. Search both directions before reserving a hotel or cruise, compare the total after bags and seats, and keep the Monday and Friday pattern in mind if plans change.

What the new route adds

Allegiant's May announcement put Kansas City among four new Fort Lauderdale routes. The airline gave October 2 as the MCI-FLL start date. Kansas City airport's announcement added the operating pattern: Mondays and Fridays.

The introductory $79 fare in the original announcement required purchase by May 19. It is not a current price promise. Allegiant's live Kansas City to Fort Lauderdale and Fort Lauderdale to Kansas City pages display current examples, with a warning that availability and prices can change.

Flight numbers, times, aircraft and gates can vary by date. Read the booking result and boarding pass instead of copying details from an inaugural-day tracker.

Two weekly flights change the recovery calculation

A Monday and Friday schedule works neatly for some three-night and four-night trips. It is less flexible for a traveler who needs to return on another day.

Search the outbound and return together. A low fare in one direction does not prove that a nonstop works for the return. If no Allegiant flight operates on the needed day, the alternative may be another airline, a connection, a longer stay or a separate ticket.

That matters most for fixed events and cruises. Do not assume a missed Friday flight can be moved to Saturday on the same route. When timing is critical, compare the cost of a flexible hotel night and the next practical itinerary before choosing the headline fare.

Price the trip after bags and seats

Allegiant includes one personal item within its published size limit. Its baggage page sets that maximum at 8 by 14 by 18 inches, including handles, wheels and pockets. The item must fit completely beneath the seat.

A carry-on bag and checked bag cost extra unless the selected bundle or another documented benefit covers them. The maximum carry-on size is 10 by 16 by 22 inches. A standard checked bag can weigh up to 50 pounds and measure up to 80 linear inches.

Fees vary by route and by when a bag is added. Allegiant's current optional-fees page says carry-on prices range from $10 to $75, while an oversized personal item can trigger an airport charge. Use the total shown for the exact itinerary. Do not rely on another traveler's old receipt or assume airport payment will cost the same as advance purchase.

Seat selection is also optional. If you do not buy a seat, Allegiant assigns one at check-in. Compare the basic itinerary, the services you actually need and any bundle before paying.

Check in before the airport cutoff

Allegiant's check-in guidance opens online and mobile check-in 24 hours before departure and closes it 45 minutes before the scheduled flight. The airline recommends arriving at least two hours early and being at the gate at least one hour before departure.

Checked bags need to reach the ticket counter or bag drop at least one hour before departure. If you have a boarding pass, no checked bag and no counter requirement, you can proceed to security.

Save the boarding pass to a phone wallet or take a printed copy. Allegiant's public FAQ currently lists a $5 charge when an agent prints a boarding pass, except when the passenger is required to check in at the counter.

MCI uses a single passenger terminal, but the airline counter and gate can still change. Use Kansas City airport's current airline directory and the boarding pass on departure day. Drivers comparing parking should also check MCI's live parking page, since prices and lot conditions can change.

Plan the Fort Lauderdale arrival before landing

FLL serves beach trips, South Florida stays and Port Everglades cruises. Those are different ground journeys, so confirm the hotel, ship terminal or rental-car address before choosing transport.

Broward County's airport transportation page lists rental cars, taxis, rideshare, buses and other options. Follow current wayfinding to the designated pickup zone rather than arranging a curbside meeting from memory. Terminal and pickup rules can change.

Cruise passengers should build a meaningful buffer. A twice-weekly airline route and a fixed ship departure are a poor combination for a same-day gamble. Check the cruise line's final boarding deadline, travel insurance terms and the next realistic air option. FLL's passenger services page also notes that airline bag acceptance can be limited to two hours before departure during busy cruise periods, so a very early return from the port may still leave time before bags can be checked.

Handle a delay or cancellation from the live trip record

Enable flight alerts in Allegiant's app and check the travel advisory page before leaving for the airport. Allegiant says passengers must still check in at least 45 minutes before a revised departure time and that checked bags are due one hour before departure.

If the airline cancels or materially changes the flight, start with the options attached to the reservation. Compare rebooking with a refund before accepting anything, especially when the next Allegiant nonstop is days away. A separate hotel, cruise or onward ticket may not be protected by the airline booking.

Allegiant's customer service plan says it will notify affected passengers when it becomes aware of a cancellation, a delay of 30 minutes or more, or a diversion. Keep contact details current and save confirmation numbers offline in case mobile service is poor.

Mobile data in Kansas City and South Florida

A live United States OpenSim eSIM can provide ground mobile data on an eligible, unlocked phone at both ends of this domestic route. It can help with airline alerts, parking directions, rideshare messages, cruise updates and hotel contact after landing.

OpenSim's public catalog was checked on October 4 and listed fixed and daily United States plans. Allowance, validity, speed policy, hotspot support, activation rules and top-up eligibility depend on the selected package. Read those details before paying. Not every plan is reloadable, and an eSIM does not provide inflight Wi-Fi, rebook a flight or guarantee reception inside every part of an airport or cruise terminal.

Ten questions about Allegiant's Kansas City-Fort Lauderdale flights

Is Allegiant flying nonstop between Kansas City and Fort Lauderdale?

Yes. Allegiant and Kansas City airport describe MCI-FLL as a nonstop route, and the airline's official booking pages list upcoming trips in both directions.

Which days does Allegiant fly the MCI-FLL route?

Kansas City airport announced Monday and Friday service. Search the exact dates because seasonal inventory, holiday weeks and later schedule changes can create exceptions.

Did the Kansas City-Fort Lauderdale route start on October 2?

October 2, 2026 was the announced start date. This guide confirms the route is currently on sale, but it does not use an unofficial flight tracker as proof of a specific inaugural operation.

Is the original $79 fare still available?

The $79 figure was a limited introductory offer tied to a May 19 purchase deadline. It should not be treated as a current fare. Use the total displayed for the exact travel dates.

Does an Allegiant ticket include a carry-on bag?

Not automatically. One personal item within 8 by 14 by 18 inches is free. A full-size carry-on costs extra unless the selected itinerary or bundle explicitly includes it.

When should I check in for an Allegiant flight from MCI?

Online and app check-in open 24 hours before departure and close 45 minutes before it. Allegiant recommends arriving two hours early and being at the gate at least one hour before departure.

Will Allegiant seat my family together for free?

Allegiant says it will try to accommodate families but does not guarantee seats together. Its family travel page recommends reserving seats when sitting together is important and explains restrictions for children and car seats.

Can I use this flight for a Fort Lauderdale cruise?

Yes, if the dates and buffer work. Avoid relying on a same-day arrival when missing the ship would have a serious cost. Check the cruise line's boarding deadline and plan transport from FLL to the correct Port Everglades terminal.

What happens if my Monday or Friday flight is canceled?

Review Allegiant's offered options in the live reservation. Because the route runs only twice weekly, the next same-route flight may be days away. Compare another itinerary, an extra stay and any available refund before deciding.

Does OpenSim mobile data work on the plane?

No claim is made for inflight service. A United States eSIM is for compatible ground mobile networks. Use the airline's stated onboard connectivity option, if any, during flight and keep essential details available offline.

Before booking

  • Search the outbound and return together.
  • Confirm that both results say nonstop and use MCI and FLL.
  • Check that the Monday and Friday pattern fits the whole trip.
  • Compare the final total after bags, seats and other extras.
  • Measure the personal item, including handles and pockets.
  • Add bags before the airport if the live price is better.
  • Check in during the 24-hour window and save the boarding pass.
  • Plan to reach MCI about two hours before departure.
  • Arrange the FLL pickup or cruise transfer before landing.
  • Keep a backup plan for a fixed event or ship departure.

Verification and route update trigger

Allegiant supports the route, announced start date, nonstop status, live sale pages, baggage limits, check-in rules, seat process, family guidance and disruption notices. Kansas City airport supports the twice-weekly Monday and Friday pattern. MCI and Broward County airport pages support current airline, parking, ground-transport and cruise-period planning.

Public traveler discussions were used to choose questions about personal-item sizing, bag pricing, seat assignment, family seating, check-in and limited-frequency recovery. They were not used as proof of schedules, fees, policies or flight operation.

We will update this guide if Allegiant or either airport publishes a material change to the operating days, frequency, sale status, baggage rules, check-in cutoffs or route status.
