Bourbon & Beyond 2026 runs from Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27 at the Highland Festival Grounds beside the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville. Gates are scheduled to open at 11 a.m. each day. Foo Fighters headline Thursday, Mumford & Sons Friday, Chris Stapleton Saturday and Dave Matthews Band Sunday.

The decision to make before leaving the hotel is not simply which artist to see. Choose the day's anchor sets, the route home and the items that will clear security. Ordinary passholders cannot leave and return. The current Park and TARC service uses Route 4, even though some festival material still shows an older Route 2 instruction.

The festival is open to all ages, but every attendee needs a full-price pass. Strollers are prohibited. Parents who bring children should add hearing protection, long walking distances and late finishes to the decision.

Which Bourbon & Beyond day should you choose?

The official schedule should settle the choice. These late sets show the main tradeoff without reproducing every performance.

Do not assume every act alternates cleanly. The published schedule has overlapping performances across the Oak, Barrel, 100 Proof, Revival and Bluegrass Situation stages. Pick three or four priorities, then allow time for walking, food and security at crowded stage approaches.

Saturday creates the hardest late conflict. Chris Stapleton starts before Noah Cyrus finishes, while The Red Clay Strays play between them. A plan to see every full set will not work. Sunday is easier for visitors who need an earlier finish, although the exit still concentrates thousands of people around the same roads and pickup areas.

Tickets, wristbands and entry

The organizer's pass information says festival admission comes as an RFID wristband. A four-day pass uses one wristband for all four days. Do not tighten it before you are ready to wear it, and do not buy an unsupported screenshot or PDF from a social-media seller.

Four-day, two-day and single-day passes were still listed when this guide was checked. Some premium products were sold out or limited. Ticket availability can change by the hour, so use the festival's own pass link or its named official resale route rather than an undated price in an article.

All entrances use metal detectors, and the organizer warns visitors to allow extra time. There is no general storage for prohibited items. Lockers inside the event can hold permitted belongings, but they do not solve the problem of arriving at security with a banned chair, backpack or metal bottle.

Can an ordinary Bourbon & Beyond pass leave and return?

Ordinary re-entry is not allowed. Current exceptions cover on-site campers with camping wristbands, eligible JamPack hotel packages and specified Costco two-day or four-day value passes. An emergency can be discussed with a gate supervisor, but it is not a general exit privilege.

This rule changes how you pack. Medication, an approved water bottle, a power bank, a light layer and anything needed until the final set should enter with you. The car is not a usable locker once your wristband has been scanned.

Bourbon & Beyond bag policy

The festival recommends bringing no bag. If you need one, the current permitted sizes are:

• a clear drawstring bag up to 16 by 13 inches;
• a clear small backpack or tote up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches;
• a clear one-gallon resealable plastic bag;
• a small non-clear purse or clutch up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches;
• a solid or clear waist pack up to 7.5 by 4.1 by 2.6 inches.

Mesh bags do not count as clear bags. Large backpacks, duffle bags, hydration packs, coolers, blankets, umbrellas, laptops, tablets, detachable-lens cameras and strollers are prohibited.

You may bring one factory-sealed plastic water bottle up to 20 ounces or one empty plastic refillable bottle. Metal bottles are not permitted. A towel up to 30 by 58 inches is allowed outside marked standing-only areas.

Personal lawn chairs require a separate Lawn Chair Pass and must use the designated security lane and chair areas. A chair pass does not allow a chair in Mint VIP or Beyond VIP. The owner remains responsible for the chair throughout the day.

Prescription medicine must stay in a current pharmacy bottle bearing the attendee's name, medication and dosage. The name should match valid ID, and the published rule limits the supply to what is needed for one day. Contact the access team before arrival if medical food or supplies do not fit the ordinary list.

Parking, Route 4 TARC, shuttles and rideshare

The Kentucky Expo Center sits beside I-65 and I-264, but proximity to the highway does not mean a quick post-headliner exit. Current community questions repeatedly focus on the time spent leaving the lots. Choose the return route before the show, not while standing outside a closed gate.

How Bourbon & Beyond Park and TARC works in 2026

TARC and Louisville's Parking Authority published a specific 2026 festival service. Park at the PARC garage at 115 West Jefferson Street for $20. The charge includes round-trip TARC travel for everyone in the vehicle.

The current instructions are:

1. Board Route 4 at 1st and Liberty from 10 a.m.
2. Buses run approximately every 15 minutes until 7 p.m.
3. The festival stop is near Gate One at Phillips Lane and Freedom Way.
4. Return buses board on Crittenden Drive just south of Gate Three.
5. Return service runs until at least midnight.

The festival parking page still contains a Route 2 reference. TARC's dated August 2026 notice reflects the new network and is the source to follow. Save the current Park and TARC notice before leaving downtown.

General parking

General parking at Kentucky Expo Center is first come and first served. Local reporting lists a current daily charge of $40, with cash or card accepted. Enter through the gate directed by current signs and staff. Parking lots open before festival gates, but arriving near 11 a.m. can still mean a long walk and a queue.

There is no in-and-out privilege. A vehicle that leaves loses its space and must pay again if it returns. Overnight parking is prohibited, and vehicles left overnight may be towed. Accessible parking is in Lot B through Gate One, subject to space, with a valid placard or plate and proof that it belongs to the user.

Downtown shuttle and rideshare

The paid downtown shuttle runs between the Kentucky International Convention Center at 320 West Jefferson Street and the Expo Center's E Wing Drive. The festival lists service from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, roughly every 15 to 30 minutes, with returns continuing until one hour after the show. A four-day shuttle wristband costs $175 on the current page. Check live inventory before relying on it.

The rideshare and taxi point is at the Army National Guard Recruiter, 2729 Crittenden Drive. Save the pickup address and walk route before the headliner. A surge in requests can delay app updates and vehicle matching even when mobile data is working.

Camping and hotel decisions

On-site camping opened Wednesday, September 23. The campground closes at noon Monday, September 28. A camping pass does not replace festival admission, and all campers need a festival pass.

The most important distinction is re-entry. Campers receive the access needed to move between the campground and festival, while ordinary hotel guests do not. Friends staying elsewhere cannot assume they can enter a campsite between sets. Campground wristbands are controlled at check-in.

Camping puts visitors near the gates but also beside Louisville airport. Expect aircraft noise, outdoor temperatures and a busy communal site. A hotel can provide a quieter recovery period, but every return journey depends on parking, TARC, a shuttle, taxi or rideshare. Choose according to sleep needs and transport tolerance rather than treating one option as universally better.

Camping vehicles cannot move in and out during the event. Separate overnight vehicle arrangements have their own rules. Read the current camping information before loading a vehicle, especially for alcohol limits, stakes, generators, propane, guest wristbands and arrival times.

Weather, evacuation and what to wear

The National Weather Service outlook cited by Louisville reporting on September 21 expected afternoon highs in the mid-70s to around 80 Fahrenheit, with overnight lows in the 50s and no rain in that forecast. That forecast can change. Check the current Louisville forecast each morning.

Bourbon & Beyond is rain or shine. Severe thunderstorms, lightning, high winds, hail or flooding can still cause a pause, evacuation or cancellation. Tents and temporary festival structures are not safe storm shelters.

The organizer's evacuation plan depends on how you arrived:

• drivers return to their vehicles;
• campers return to a vehicle or a designated permanent campground shelter;
• people without vehicle access may be directed toward Freedom Hall;
• visitors who need evacuation assistance should check in at the Access Center on arrival.

Bring closed shoes, sunscreen, a permitted plastic water bottle and a light evening layer. Umbrellas are prohibited. A compact waterproof jacket is the practical rain option. Save the evacuation map and agree on a meeting point with your group before the crowd fills the site.

Accessibility, sober support and family limits

The festival accessibility page lists raised and ground-level viewing areas, accessible restrooms, mobility-device charging, ASL interpreted shows, Access Oasis rest areas and a quieter Reset space. Visit the Access Center to request the program wristband used for viewing areas and services.

Accessible viewing is first come and first served. The current policy generally allows one companion in the platform or ground-level area. This is access to a shared area, not a reserved seat. Contact the access team before traveling when a specific accommodation determines whether the trip is workable.

Sober & Beyond offers a substance-free support space and recovery-style meetings. The event is all ages, but it is built around long outdoor days, alcohol service and dense crowds. Every child needs a ticket, strollers are prohibited, and the organizer recommends hearing protection. Those facts make it a demanding outing for younger children.
