Centrum Air Tashkent-Mattala flights: route guide
Centrum Air plans to start direct Tashkent-Mattala flights on October 28, 2026. The seasonal service is scheduled twice a week through the end of March 2027, but it has not started operating yet.
The arrival airport is Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, code HRI, near Hambantota in southern Sri Lanka. It is not Colombo's Bandaranaike airport, code CMB. That distinction can save a long and expensive correction if a hotel transfer is booked from the wrong airport.

What Centrum Air has announced
The airline's September 27 route announcement gives the core plan:
| Detail | Current plan |
|---|---|
| Route | Tashkent (TAS) to Mattala/Hambantota (HRI) |
| Planned start | Wednesday, October 28, 2026 |
| Frequency | Twice weekly |
| Operating days | Wednesday and Saturday |
| Published season | Through the end of March 2027 |
| Aircraft | Airbus A320 family |
| Operating status | Announced and on sale, but not yet operating |
The airline does not publish times or flight numbers in that announcement. Two specialist schedule reports reproduce the same current filing for C6 553 and C6 554. Treat those times as a planning aid until the airline ticket confirms them.
The current filed C6 553 and C6 554 schedule
FlyCentralAsia's schedule report and Aviation Voice's Sri Lanka report list different local times for Wednesday and Saturday:
| Flight | Day | Route | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C6 553 | Wednesday | Tashkent to Mattala | 10:30 | 17:10 |
| C6 554 | Wednesday | Mattala to Tashkent | 18:45 | 00:30 the next day |
| C6 553 | Saturday | Tashkent to Mattala | 10:00 | 16:35 |
| C6 554 | Saturday | Mattala to Tashkent | 18:00 | 23:40 |
These are local times. Wednesday's return reaches Tashkent after midnight, so its arrival date is Thursday. Saturday's return is filed to arrive before midnight on the same date.
The two reports specify an A320neo, while Centrum Air's newer announcement says the broader A320 family. The airline announcement is the safer aircraft statement. An aircraft assignment can change without changing the route.
Search the exact date on Centrum Air's flight schedule before paying for a transfer, hotel or separate onward ticket. The first flight is still planned, not completed, and a schedule filing does not guarantee operation.
HRI is the south-coast airport, not Colombo
Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is identified as HRI. Colombo's main international airport is CMB. A generic booking message that says only "Sri Lanka" or "Hambantota" is not enough for ground planning.
HRI can suit a trip centered on Hambantota, Tangalle, Yala or the southern coast. It is not automatically the better airport for Colombo, Galle or every beach town. Sri Lanka Tourism's getting-around guidance warns that road journeys can take time even on a relatively small island.
Before booking, put the hotel address into a route planner from HRI and compare it with the same journey from CMB. Ask the accommodation which airport it normally serves and whether the quoted transfer is private, shared or tied to a particular arrival time.
Arrange the Mattala transfer before departure
Public questions about Mattala repeatedly focus on reaching Tangalle, Mirissa and other south-coast stops. Current official airport pages do not provide a dependable public-transport timetable for those hotel journeys. Do not land assuming a specific bus, app car or fixed fare will be waiting.
The practical option is to confirm a pickup with the accommodation, a licensed transfer company or a driver in Sri Lanka Tourism's authorized tourist-driver directory. Get the total price, vehicle size, payment method, meeting point, waiting policy and destination in writing.
Send the driver the flight number and HRI airport code. Keep the contact details and hotel address offline. If the flight time changes, contact the transfer provider rather than assuming the driver receives airline updates.
The Base baggage rule changes before launch
Centrum Air's planned launch falls two days after a major baggage change. The airline's passenger FAQ says that from October 26, 2026, its Base fare no longer includes a cabin bag. Base instead includes one personal item weighing up to 3 kg and measuring no more than 30 by 40 by 20 cm.
Where a cabin bag is included by the fare, the FAQ gives a maximum of 8 kg and 55 by 35 by 25 cm. Checked baggage, if included or bought separately, is limited to either 23 kg or 32 kg depending on the fare and route, with a maximum combined dimension of 158 cm.
The FAQ still contains a general fare summary that describes an 8 kg cabin bag under Base, followed by the dated October 26 exception. For this route, the dated rule is the relevant warning. The baggage line on the actual booking is the final source because route and fare conditions can vary.
Do not use a September screenshot or an older Centrum Air trip as proof of the October allowance. Price the ticket and any baggage add-on together before paying.
Online check-in only covers the Tashkent departure
Centrum Air says online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and is available only for flights leaving Tashkent. A traveler departing from Mattala should therefore plan to check in at the airport unless the airline publishes a newer route-specific option.
Online check-in does not replace passport, entry, baggage or security checks. Keep the booking reference available offline and follow the airport-arrival instruction on the ticket.
If the timetable changes, the airline says it sends a notice to the email used for booking. Changes and cancellations must be handled through the original point of purchase and depend on the fare. Use an email address you can reach abroad, and avoid a short separate-ticket connection after either direction of this twice-weekly service.
Check Sri Lanka entry permission for the passport
Sri Lanka's official Electronic Travel Authorization portal says foreign nationals generally need ETA approval before arrival, subject to listed exceptions. It also says 40 nationalities have been eligible for a free 30-day tourist ETA since May 25, 2026, while charges apply to other nationalities.
Do not assume the route creates a visa waiver or that another traveler's result applies to the passport being used. Check the official portal for nationality, purpose, stay length and fee, then save the approval with the ticket. If the passport number changes, obtain advice from the official authority rather than relying on a forum answer.
Entry rules can change before October 28. Recheck them shortly before travel and confirm that the passport and ETA details match.
Keep mobile data ready for the ground journey
OpenSim currently lists plans for Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan. Its Asia 20 areas plan also has verified coverage in both countries, which may be useful when the same phone needs data before departure and after arrival.
Package allowance, speed, validity, network, hotspot support and top-up eligibility vary by card. Check the exact plan rather than assuming every option is reloadable or unlimited. An eSIM provides mobile data on the ground; it does not provide inflight Wi-Fi or guarantee coverage on every road.
Install on reliable Wi-Fi before travel, but follow the selected plan's activation rule so validity does not start too early. Keep the transfer address, ticket and ETA offline as a backup. You can also review when to install an eSIM before travel and how to check whether a phone supports eSIM.
Ten questions about Centrum Air Tashkent-Mattala flights
When do Centrum Air Tashkent-Mattala flights start?
The first flight is planned for Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The route has been announced and tickets are on sale, but the service had not started when this guide was checked on October 4.
Is this a new route or a resumed route?
The airline presents it as a new launch, while specialist schedule reporting says Centrum Air previously served the route until January 2025. For passengers, the useful status is that the October 28 service is a planned seasonal return and should not be described as operating yet.
Which airport is Mattala HRI?
HRI is Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport near Hambantota in southern Sri Lanka. It is not CMB, the main airport serving Colombo. Use HRI when requesting a hotel pickup or checking a road journey.
Which days do C6 553 and C6 554 fly?
The airline announcement says Wednesday and Saturday. The current filing assigns C6 553 from Tashkent to Mattala and C6 554 from Mattala to Tashkent on both days. Confirm the exact date on the ticket.
Does Wednesday's HRI-TAS flight arrive the next day?
Yes, under the current filing. Wednesday's C6 554 leaves Mattala at 18:45 and reaches Tashkent at 00:30 on Thursday. Saturday's filed return arrives at 23:40 on the same date.
How do I travel from Mattala Airport to a south-coast hotel?
Arrange the transfer before departure with the accommodation, an authorized driver or a licensed transfer provider. Confirm the HRI pickup point, destination, full price, payment method and response to a flight delay. Do not rely on an old forum fare or phone number.
Does Centrum Air Base include a cabin bag on this route?
Not under the airline's rule effective October 26, two days before the planned launch. Base includes one personal item up to 3 kg and 30 by 40 by 20 cm. Read the ticket because baggage conditions can vary by fare and route.
Can I check in online at Mattala?
The current FAQ limits online check-in to flights departing Tashkent. Plan to use the airport counter at HRI unless Centrum Air publishes a newer instruction for this route.
Do I need an ETA for Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka's official portal says foreign nationals generally need an ETA before arrival, subject to its listed exceptions. Eligibility and charges depend on nationality and travel purpose, so check the passport on the official portal rather than copying another passenger's result.
How should I protect plans around a Wednesday or Saturday flight?
Check the email used for booking because Centrum Air says schedule notices are sent there. Contact the original seller for changes or cancellations, which depend on the fare. Leave extra room around separate onward tickets and non-refundable transfers.
Booking checklist for the planned launch
Confirm that the airport code is HRI, not CMB. Match the Wednesday or Saturday date to the direction-specific local time, read the baggage line that applies after October 26, and plan airport check-in for the Mattala departure.
Then arrange the ground transfer, verify ETA requirements for the passport and keep the essential documents offline. Recheck the route close to departure because the first flight has not yet operated and a twice-weekly schedule leaves little room for a missed or changed service.
