Emirates Helsinki flights begin: Dubai route guide

Emirates operated its first flight from Dubai to Helsinki on October 1, 2026. Flight EK167 left Dubai at 07:30 local time with a near-full passenger and cargo load, starting the airline's daily, year-round direct service between the United Arab Emirates and Finland.

The new route removes a connection for passengers traveling between Dubai and Helsinki. It also gives Finland a new one-stop option to destinations across the Emirates network, but a short or separate-ticket connection in Dubai still needs careful checking.

The practical answer: Search EK167 from Dubai and EK168 from Helsinki for your date. Emirates is flying the route daily with an Airbus A350 offering Business, Premium Economy and Economy, but the timetable shown in January changed before launch. Use the time on your issued ticket and recheck it before arranging transport or a connection.

This guide was checked on October 1, 2026, after Emirates confirmed that the inaugural flight had departed.

The Dubai-Helsinki route is now operating

Emirates' launch-day update confirms that EK167 departed Dubai on October 1. The airline describes the route as the only year-round direct air link between the UAE and Finland.

Emirates' January announcement listed EK167 at 08:45 from Dubai and EK168 at 16:45 from Helsinki, with all times local. The first flight actually left Dubai at 07:30. That difference is a useful warning against treating an announcement timetable as permanent. Check the live booking and flight-status pages for the travel date.

The A350 brings Premium Economy to Finland

Emirates says the route uses a 298-seat A350 with Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Premium Economy is therefore a bookable cabin on the Helsinki route rather than a seat upgrade that appears on every Emirates aircraft.

Aircraft substitutions can happen. If the cabin is central to the purchase, confirm that Premium Economy appears on the exact flight before paying and check again in Manage Your Booking.

The route launch does not change the fare rules. Seat choice, changes, refunds and checked baggage depend on the fare and itinerary selected.

Dubai connections work best on one ticket

Passengers connecting from Helsinki to another Emirates flight should follow the Connections signs at Dubai International. Emirates says its own flights arrive and depart from Terminal 3. When the entire journey is booked with Emirates, including eligible partner connections, bags are normally tagged through for connections within 24 hours.

Separate bookings are different. Emirates' Dubai transfer guidance says a passenger who did not book all connecting flights with it may need to clear immigration, collect bags, pass customs and check in again. A visa may be required to enter the UAE. The paid baggage-transfer service has its own conditions and requires at least three hours.

Do not turn a same-terminal itinerary into a guaranteed connection. Check whether the segments share one ticket, where the bag is tagged and whether a delay on the first flight is protected.

Baggage and check-in are ticket specific

Emirates uses weight or piece allowances depending on the itinerary. Its checked-baggage page says the allowance varies with route, fare and travel class. The booking confirmation and Manage Your Booking are the right places to check the actual allowance.

Online check-in normally opens 48 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before it. Emirates advises passengers at most airports to arrive three hours before departure, while some airports may require more time. Follow the timing on the ticket and airport guidance rather than aiming for the online cutoff.

Helsinki Airport has a direct train to the city

Helsinki Airport is under one roof, with Schengen departures generally using gates 5 to 36 and non-Schengen flights using gates 37 to 55. Passengers arriving from Dubai should follow passport-control and customs instructions before entering Finland or continuing.

Finavia's airport transport guide says I and P trains reach central Helsinki in about 30 minutes. The station is directly below the terminal. HSL bus 600 takes about 40 minutes under normal conditions, and the taxi rank is on the arrivals level. These are planning estimates, not guarantees for a particular arrival.

A launch offer has narrow conditions

Emirates is offering eligible Skywards members double miles on journeys involving EK167 or EK168. Members must register by October 31, 2026, and eligible travel must be completed between October 1 and December 31, 2026. Ticket stock, booking channel, fare and operating-carrier conditions apply, so read the full offer terms before relying on the bonus.

Mobile data for Helsinki and Dubai

An OpenSim Finland eSIM is the direct country option for a Helsinki visit. An OpenSim UAE eSIM can cover a Dubai stay, while the OpenSim Europe eSIM may suit a trip continuing to other included European destinations.

OpenSim's live catalog was checked on October 1. Read the current product card for included locations, data allowance, validity, network generation, speed conditions and top-up eligibility. Not every plan is reloadable.

Mobile data can help with airport messages, HSL tickets, maps and hotel contact after landing. It does not include Emirates inflight Wi-Fi, protect a separate ticket or satisfy passport and visa requirements.

Ten questions about Emirates Helsinki flights

Has Emirates started flying to Helsinki?

Yes. Emirates confirmed that EK167 departed Dubai on October 1, 2026, beginning the daily route.

Is the Dubai-Helsinki flight daily?

Yes. Emirates describes EK167 and EK168 as a daily, year-round service. Search the exact date because times can change.

Is the route nonstop?

Yes. Dubai to Helsinki is a nonstop sector. An itinerary continuing beyond Dubai or Helsinki may still include a connection.

Does the Helsinki route have Premium Economy?

Emirates launched the route with a three-cabin A350 that includes Premium Economy. Confirm the cabin on the exact flight in case of an aircraft change.

What time are EK167 and EK168?

Use the times shown for your travel date. The January announcement and the first operating day showed different EK167 departure times, so an old launch timetable is not a safe basis for transport or connection plans.

Will my bag transfer through Dubai?

It normally transfers when the full eligible itinerary is booked with Emirates and the connection is within 24 hours. Separate tickets may require immigration, bag collection, customs and a new check-in.

Is a short Dubai connection safe?

It depends on the issued itinerary, terminals and whether the connection is protected. Use the connection Emirates sells on one ticket and avoid applying that minimum to separately booked flights.

How early should I reach Helsinki Airport?

Follow the time on the ticket and Emirates' current guidance. Online check-in does not remove document checks, baggage drop, security or passport control.

How do I reach central Helsinki after landing?

The I and P trains run from the station below the terminal and take about 30 minutes. Bus 600 and taxis are alternatives. Check the live HSL journey before travel.

Can I earn double Skywards Miles on the route?

Possibly. The launch offer requires registration by October 31 and eligible completed travel by December 31, 2026, along with the offer's ticket and flight conditions.

Before you book

  • Search EK167 or EK168 for the exact date.
  • Confirm the departure time instead of using the January announcement.
  • Check that the desired cabin appears on the flight.
  • Read the fare's change, refund, seat and baggage rules.
  • Keep onward flights on one ticket when practical.
  • Confirm the final airport on the baggage tag.
  • Check entry and transit requirements for the passport used.
  • Allow time for passport control at Helsinki.
  • Plan the train, bus or taxi after allowing for baggage reclaim.
  • Recheck the flight status before leaving for the airport.

Sources for the route launch

Emirates' October 1 release confirms the first departure, daily operation, aircraft and cabin layout. Its January announcement identifies EK167 and EK168 and provides the original timetable. Emirates' passenger pages support the connection, baggage and check-in guidance. Finavia supports the airport layout and ground-transport information.

Public traveler discussions were used to identify recurring questions about short Dubai connections, split bookings, bag transfers, terminals and long layovers. They were not used as authority for airline policy, entry rules or the route's operating status.

We will update this guide if Emirates changes the route frequency, flight numbers, aircraft, cabin availability or transfer rules. Travelers should still use the airline's current flight status and their issued itinerary.
