FFXIV Fan Festival Tokyo 2026: tickets, app and travel

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo runs on October 31-November 1 at Makuhari Messe, in Chiba. Before travelling, open your actual ticket in the Square Enix App: screenshots and printouts are not accepted for entry. The official resale and activity-lottery application windows have closed.
The organizer's October 23 visitor update adds entry guidance, maps and payment information. Check it even if your hotel has been booked for months. A cinema screening, an activity reservation and admission to the exhibition halls are different things.
All times below are Japan Standard Time, JST. Use the Japanese date when checking deadlines from overseas.
What your booking lets you do
| Your arrangement | Where it works | Check before travelling |
|---|---|---|
| Confirmed physical admission | Makuhari Messe halls 1-7 | Live app ticket and companion distribution |
| Activity-lottery application already submitted | Selected activities if successful | Results around October 28; this does not replace admission |
| AEON Cinema viewing ticket | The cinema and session on your booking | Separate screening admission, not Messe access |
| Official online stream | Your compatible device, subject to viewing terms | Free stages versus separately paid concerts |
| Linked mall or park visit | AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin and Toyosuna Park | No festival ticket needed there; individual purchases may cost money |
The event information lists planned opening at 9am and finishing at 9pm on both days. Those are event hours, not a promise that arriving at 8.59am gets you straight to the stage.
Can you still buy a Tokyo Fan Fest ticket?
Do not plan around an open official resale. The resale notice gave an October 18, 11.59pm deadline and October 20 results. That process has ended. The notice does not establish a walk-up admission route.
The ticket rules matter to overseas fans. The buyer application required a Japan-region Square Enix account with eligible paid FFXIV service. The ticket app is distributed through Japan's App Store and Google Play. Companion procedures have their own conditions: these rules do not establish that every foreign visitor is barred, or that anyone can buy and enter.
Ask official ticket support about unresolved names, account regions or companion transfers before making non-refundable plans. Do not assume a third-party seller or a changed phone setting fixes eligibility. An OpenSim eSIM supplies mobile data; it does not change your account or app-store region.
Open the app ticket before leaving your hotel
Use the entry instructions to test the ticket on each attendee's phone. Complete required companion distribution beforehand. Keep any security token needed for login available, charge the phone and carry a power bank.
Save ordinary travel information offline, but do not substitute a screenshot for the live admission ticket. Morning queues differ between halls 1-3 and the halls 4-6/7 side. Follow current signs and allow time for bag checks.
Keep the two-day wristband on throughout the weekend. Removing it invalidates it, and lost or damaged wristbands are not reissued under the published rules.
The activity lottery is closed, but most activities do not require it
The October 21 announcement set the cutoff at October 25, 11.59pm JST. It is already past that deadline in Japan. If you applied, check for results around October 28.
The reservation guidance says most content can be used without reservations. Selected lottery slots give priority access; Quick Photo Session is the reservation-required exception. Missing the lottery does not bar you from the whole activity floor.
For a successful reservation, distinguish the meeting time from the activity's actual start. Arrive at the listed meeting time: being more than 30 minutes late means you cannot join the reserved queue. Priority does not guarantee immediate participation. Check the chosen activity's payment and participation conditions too.
Choose a hall plan before joining a queue
Start with the floor programme and venue maps. Halls 1-3 have activities including Chocobo VR and craft workshops, halls 4-6 contain the main stage, and hall 7 has further activities including the Edda attraction.
Choose one or two priorities in the same area, with room for lunch and queues. Activities begin when doors open and continue during stage programming, according to the October 23 notice. You do not have to wait until the keynote ends to start every activity, but you will have to choose what to miss.
The maps page explicitly allows visitors without Fan Festival tickets to use the content at AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin and Toyosuna Park. Those are separate linked areas, not a back door into the Messe. Check individual costs and availability.
Set an exact meeting point with friends. "Outside Makuhari" is too vague when people are split between exhibition halls, a mall and a park.
How to get to Makuhari Messe from Tokyo
Makuhari Messe's access page distinguishes three easily confused stations:
| Station | Venue guidance | Planning consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Kaihin-Makuhari, JR Keiyo Line | Approximately five minutes on foot | Allow extra time to find the event entrance and queue |
| Makuhari-Toyosuna, JR Keiyo Line | Approximately 20 minutes on foot to the Messe | Do not use the Kaihin-Makuhari walking estimate here |
| Makuhari-Hongo, JR or Keisei | Approximately 17 minutes by bus towards Makuhari Messe Chuo | A separate bus connection, not a station beside the halls |
The venue estimates roughly 30 minutes from Tokyo Station to Kaihin-Makuhari by rapid train. That is not a hotel-to-door journey time. Add the platform walk, transfers and event queue when choosing a departure.
Check a date-specific journey planner for the return. A 9pm event finish does not mean you will reach the station at 9.05pm. Avoid tight onward train or airport connections, especially after the concerts. Save the return station and hotel address on both travelling companions' phones.
Which stages have English coverage?
The Japanese stage schedule lists the keynote for October 31, 11am-1pm, the piano concert for October 31, 7.30pm-8.30pm, and THE PRIMALS for November 1, 7pm-8.30pm. Times may change.
The English stream notice, updated October 22, confirms that the keynote is presented in Japanese and English. Other stage events are Japanese-only. Do not expect the developer panel to have the keynote's English provision.
Official YouTube and Twitch coverage includes the non-concert stage events. The two music performances require a separate paid stream. Check viewing-region, checkout and archive terms before buying. The English notice includes a corrected system fee, while the Japanese page shows a different figure; this guide does not combine them into an apparently definitive total.
Watching from another country? Add Tokyo to your calendar's time-zone setting. Copying a Japanese clock time into a home-zone reminder can put it on the wrong day.
Cinema viewing is separate from festival admission
AEON Cinema's page lists the October 31 keynote at 11am for JPY2,500, and the November 1 PRIMALS performance at 7pm for JPY3,500, tax included. It names 21 participating cinemas, including Makuhari Shintoshin. Check the branch and remaining seats before travelling.
Additional Makuhari Shintoshin screen sales began on October 19. That announcement does not prove seats remain now. A screening ticket admits you to the cinema session you buy, not the Messe halls.
For fans already in Japan without hall admission, a confirmed cinema booking may be more practical than hoping for a late ticket. Watching the free official stages from your accommodation is another option.
Bags, cosplay and access need a separate check
Pack for a long day on foot, not a hotel checkout with all your luggage. The organizer's cloakroom and cosplay-changing facilities require advance booking. Do not assume a walk-up locker or changing room will be available.
Ask the organizer about your particular entrance and session if you need a step-free route, seating or assistance. A general venue page does not confirm that every temporary queue or activity is accessible. Keep medicines and essential items with you and follow staff instructions for altered routes.
For a longer family holiday around the weekend, use our Japan with kids guide rather than squeezing sightseeing into the festival timetable.
Mobile data for the ticket app and train home
Save venue maps, addresses and ordinary confirmations before leaving Wi-Fi. Keep a connection available for the ticket app, route changes and meeting messages. Agree an offline meeting plan too: no mobile plan guarantees uninterrupted service in a crowded venue.
For a Japan-only visit, OpenSim's Japan plans are a more relevant starting point than buying coverage for countries you will not visit. The public catalog checked on October 25 listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.40 and 3GB for 15 days at USD3.40, both eligible for top-up. Verify the selected plan's current price and terms before paying.
That gives a visitor a small, country-specific allowance to compare against their home provider's roaming charge. It does not establish that OpenSim is always cheaper or faster. For heavy uploading or concert streaming, use our travel data calculator, then compare larger allowances in the Japan eSIM guide.
Check phone compatibility and installation timing before departure. Successful eSIM installation and successful festival ticket access are separate checks; test both.
