Globe GoRoam adds round-trip data for travelers returning to the Philippines
August 25, 2026. Globe has changed what happens to unused data on selected GoRoam packs. Since August 5, an eligible pack bought in GlobeOne can continue as local mobile data after the traveler returns to the Philippines, provided the allowance has not expired.
Globe calls this round-trip data. It is useful, but it does not make every GoRoam purchase reusable at home. The pack must carry the feature, be bought through GlobeOne, first connect abroad in its named country and still be within validity after the return flight.
The traveler decision: choose round-trip GoRoam when keeping the Globe or TM line active matters and leftover data will be useful before expiry. Choose a separate Roaming eSIM when the route crosses countries, the traveler is not an eligible Globe customer, or independent plan choice matters more than reusing data at home.
How Globe GoRoam round-trip data works
Globe's current GoRoam FAQ describes a three-stage journey.
- Buy an eligible GoRoam pack in GlobeOne for the destination country.
- Activate it by connecting the Globe or TM line to a supported partner network in that country.
- Return to the Philippines before the pack expires. Any remaining allowance can then be used as local data.
The data cannot be used locally before the trip. Buying a Japan pack in Manila does not create ordinary Philippine data immediately. The outbound network connection is the activation event that makes the later return use possible.

This is not rollover into a new billing cycle. It is the same allowance and the same expiry continuing across the return journey.
GlobeOne and GCash purchases do not get the same feature
The purchase channel is a product condition, not a cosmetic checkout choice.
Globe says round-trip data is exclusive to eligible GoRoam packs purchased in GlobeOne. Globe Prepaid and TM customers can still buy GoRoam through GCash, but those purchases do not receive the return-home feature.
If a Prepaid customer buys one pack in GCash and another in GlobeOne for the same country, Globe says the balances do not combine. While abroad, the GCash allowance is deducted first. The GlobeOne allowance follows, and only that eligible balance can continue at home.
Two eligible GlobeOne GoRoam packs for the same destination behave differently: Globe says their data combines and the longer validity applies. This stacking rule should still be confirmed on the exact offer because Globe is expanding features by country.
Check before payment: the pack shown for the line must say it includes round-trip data. The live Globe FAQ says selected destinations and promos qualify; it does not provide a stable master list that travelers should memorize.
Leftover data may not be used first after the return flight
Landing in the Philippines with 3GB left does not mean the next 3GB of local use will automatically come from GoRoam.
Globe says an active 5G, app-specific or Surf4All local promo takes priority. The round-trip balance begins deducting only after those eligible local allowances are consumed, while the GoRoam validity clock continues.
That creates a simple expiry risk. A traveler who returns with several active local packs might watch the GoRoam balance expire before the phone reaches it.
After landing:
- Open GlobeOne and check the remaining GoRoam allowance and expiry.
- Review every active local data promo on the line.
- Note which allowance Globe is deducting during normal use.
- Avoid buying another local pack automatically if the goal is to consume round-trip data first.
- Do not assume the balance can be saved for a second foreign trip.
Globe specifically recommends other roaming products for travelers planning to revisit the same destination. The return-home feature is designed to use the remainder locally, not hold it as a travel wallet.
GoRoam remains a one-country roaming pack
Round-trip refers to the direction of travel—out of the Philippines and back—not multi-country coverage.
A Japan GoRoam pack works on the supported partner network in Japan. It does not become a South Korea or Taiwan pack during a connection or side trip. Travelers moving between several countries need a separate GoRoam pack for each supported destination or a different roaming product.
This distinction matters for a Tokyo-Seoul itinerary, a Bangkok-Singapore holiday or a multi-country European journey. One broad Roaming eSIM can be simpler when its exact coverage list includes every stop. Separate country plans may be cheaper when only one destination needs much data.

Calls, texts and Philippine OTPs are separate from the data pack
GoRoam round-trip packs are data-only. Globe says normal cellular calls and outgoing texts are billed at standard roaming rates unless another qualifying offer covers them.
Keeping the usual Globe or TM number is one of GoRoam's strongest practical benefits. The same line can remain available for bank OTPs and important incoming messages, subject to network availability and the service's messaging rules. Buying a separate data Roaming eSIM can preserve that number too on a compatible dual-SIM phone, but it requires careful settings.
Travelers should check:
- whether receiving ordinary SMS is charged at the destination;
- the cost of answering or making a call;
- voicemail behavior and forwarding;
- whether mobile data and roaming remain enabled on the home line;
- whether the phone can keep two lines active;
- which line is selected for cellular data.

Postpaid and Prepaid have different end-of-pack risks abroad
Globe's current FAQ gives different outcomes when the allowance ends before the traveler returns.
For Globe Prepaid and TM, data roaming stops when the pack expires or the allowance is fully consumed. The traveler must buy another available roaming offer to continue.
For Globe Postpaid, daily RoamSURF can take over when mobile data and data roaming remain on. Globe lists ₱399 or ₱499 per day depending on destination. That fallback prevents a sudden data stop, but it can also create a charge the traveler did not plan.
Set a calendar reminder before the GoRoam expiry. Check the remaining balance and decide whether to buy another pack, switch to the separate Roaming eSIM line, accept daily roaming or turn data roaming off on the Globe line.
Globe GoRoam or a separate Roaming eSIM?
Neither choice wins every trip. Globe's feature is unusually useful for an eligible subscriber who returns early with data left. Roaming eSIM has the stronger fit when the buyer wants a plan independent of the home carrier or one profile for several listed destinations.

At 10:43 UTC on August 25, the live Roaming eSIM catalog returned 43 Japan packages from US$0.60 and 34 Thailand packages from US$0.60. The Japan results named KDDI, NTT Docomo, Rakuten and SoftBank labels; Thailand named AIS, dtac and TrueMove labels. Prices, inventory and fields change, so inspect the live card at checkout.

Can I use round-trip GoRoam data before leaving the Philippines?
No. The pack must first connect to a supported network in its named foreign destination. Only unused data can become local Philippine data after the return.
Does every GoRoam pack include round-trip data?
No. Globe limits the feature to eligible promos and selected destinations bought in GlobeOne. Check the label shown for the exact line and country.
Does a GoRoam pack bought in GCash work after I return?
The current Globe rule says no. GCash remains a purchase channel for eligible Prepaid and TM packs, but round-trip data is exclusive to qualifying GlobeOne purchases.
Can I combine a GCash pack with a GlobeOne pack?
Globe says they do not combine. Abroad, the GCash balance is used first, followed by the GlobeOne balance.
Can I use one GoRoam pack in Japan and South Korea?
No. GoRoam is country-specific. Buy another eligible pack or compare a regional Roaming eSIM that expressly lists both countries.
Will leftover data wait until my other Philippine promos finish?
It can, but the original GoRoam expiry keeps running. Globe says active 5G, app-specific and Surf4All allowances can be deducted first.
