Illuminated Blob building and visitors during GLOW Eindhoven in November 2017

GLOW Eindhoven runs from November 7 to 14, 2026, with the free city light-art walk open from 18:30 to 23:00. The Philips Stadium drone experience is a separate, ticketed visit. Choose whether you want that show, check the current route map and plan the journey home before setting out.

The Eindhoven tourism event page confirms the dates and public festival hours. You can enjoy the city displays without buying a stadium ticket. Equally, booking the stadium does not mean you have arranged the rest of your evening.

This year's CONNECT theme brings together light art and the relationship between people, technology and the city. For a first visit, a manageable walk and one booked performance can be more enjoyable than trying to reach every display in Eindhoven and the surrounding towns.

Free walking route or stadium show: which should you choose?

A regional GLOW visitThat location's current programme and transport planTreat it as a separate evening rather than an automatic city-route extension

The stadium can be an anchor for an evening if you prefer a timed activity. The free walk gives you more flexibility to stop for food, shorten the visit or change direction. Neither choice requires you to complete the entire programme.

Before deciding whether a long day trip is worthwhile, compare time on the road or train with the evening you can spend there. A late arrival followed by an early last train leaves less room for a meal, queues or a booked show. An overnight stay may help, but first check whether your accommodation is within a workable return route.

GLOW's route map is still provisional

As checked on October 14, the official route page describes an approximately five-kilometre city-centre loop and displays a concept map. It says an interactive map will follow. Do not treat that concept as a final entrance-by-entrance itinerary or assume a finished navigation app is already available.

The same page lists a EUR2 printed map, available at information points on the route and in advance at Tourist Information in De Heuvel. Check current availability before making a special trip to collect one.

Use the official page again close to departure. Once the updated route is available, save the version you intend to follow and note where you will leave it for the station, accommodation or dinner. A general city map can show streets, but it will not necessarily show the festival's temporary walking arrangements.

Allow for stopping to watch installations rather than estimating the whole evening from distance alone. If the group has different walking speeds, agree on a short route and an optional extension. That is easier than discovering halfway round that one person needs to leave while the rest want to continue.

Philips Stadium drone tickets and performance times

GLOW's September 28 announcement introduced The Breathing Collective, created by TWOFIFTYK for the stadium. It runs on each festival evening, with approximately 15-minute performances at 18:30, 19:15, 20:00 and 20:45.

The current stadium booking information lists EUR2 per person, excluding transaction fees. Entry opens 30 minutes before the performance. Select the actual date and slot you want, then read the confirmation's entrance instructions. This guide does not establish remaining ticket inventory.

The organizer allows changes until 24 hours before the show, subject to availability, and states that tickets are not refunded even if extreme weather cancels it. Read the terms before paying and check email, including spam, for an operational update. That is the organizer's stated policy, not a determination of your legal rights.

Children through age three enter free with a parent and may need to sit on a lap when the show is full. Wheelchair bookings include one companion and use Entrance 36. The organizer limits bags to A4 size and approximately 10cm thickness. Confirm any other access needs before booking.

If you combine the show with dinner, allow a gap rather than booking a table for the minute the performance ends. You still need to exit and reach the restaurant. Choose a slot that fits the evening you want, rather than assuming the latest show always leaves the most time for everything else.

One current artwork to build into your walk

On October 8, GLOW announced Contours of the City at Clausplein, a Ploeg-e and GGD Brabant-Zuidoost work combining light, language and sound. It includes voices of centenarians and uses city silhouettes to explore connections between residents and their surroundings.

That gives you a specific work to look for on the current programme. Choose a small number of installations for their format or subject, then connect them using the released map. Avoid planning a 2026 evening around photographs or lists of works from a previous edition.

If children are joining, tell them what they will be doing: walking between displays, watching a short performance or stopping for a warm meal. Let them choose one work to look forward to. Keep a simpler route available if they are tired or the weather makes a longer walk uncomfortable.

Arriving by train and finding the last journey home

Use the NS journey planner for rail travel and 9292 for a door-to-door trip with buses or other connections. Enter the festival date, not today's date, and check both directions.

Start the return calculation at the installation or stadium, not at the station. Include the walk, time to find the platform and any onward connection. The festival's closing time is not a promise that transport to your destination continues afterwards.

Keep the last comfortable return and an earlier alternative in your notes. If the later journey includes a tight transfer, decide in advance whether missing it would mean a taxi, a hotel or a much longer trip. Avoid making the evening depend on a connection you cannot afford to miss.

For a visit to another GLOW location, search the actual address. Do not assume every town is reached by a direct train or that the same ticket covers rail and local buses. One well-planned regional evening is more useful than a list of places you cannot realistically reach after dark.

Is there a bus day ticket or an automatic daily cap?

Bravo's 2026 Dalurendagkaart costs EUR8.10 for unlimited eligible off-peak bus travel that day. On weekdays it is valid from 09:00 until the end of bus service; weekends allow use before 09:00 too. You can buy it from the driver with a bank card, credit card or phone wallet. Cash is not accepted on the bus.

The product covers Bravo's Arriva and Hermes buses in Brabant, with stated route exclusions and higher fares on certain long-distance journeys. It is a bus ticket, not an NS rail pass. A holder aged 12 or older can bring up to two children aged 11 or younger free under its conditions.

Compare that purchased day ticket with the journeys you plan to make. Do not assume tapping a bank card automatically turns several rides into this product or creates one daily cap across trains and buses. Check the operator's price for your actual route and selected ticket.

If you are mainly walking around the city and making only an airport transfer, your decision may differ from someone taking several regional bus journeys. Count the rides before buying a pass simply because it has "day" in its name.

OVpay: use the same card or device to check out

Bravo's ticket guidance explains that you can check in and out with a supported contactless payment card or a card on your phone. You do not need to download an app or register merely to use this payment method.

Use the same card or device at both ends. The OV-chipkaart operator's OVpay explanation specifically distinguishes the physical card, phone and watch: checking in with one does not mean you can check out with another. Take the intended card out of the wallet so a second card is not scanned by mistake.

If you miss a debit-card checkout, Bravo's customer-service instructions direct you to the OVpay self-service process using the payment reference and debited amount from your bank statement. The correction process for an OV-chipkaart is different. Keep the details of the payment method you used rather than asking for a refund against another card.

Mobile data helps you look up a trip or resolve a payment question. It does not pay the fare or replace a successful check-in. Keep sufficient battery if your transport payment card is on the phone.

Eindhoven Airport transfers

Eindhoven Airport's transport page identifies buses 400 and 401 to Eindhoven Centraal and bus 20 to Best station. The bus stop is beside the terminal at P1. Plan the bus leg explicitly; landing at Eindhoven Airport is not the same as arriving at Eindhoven Centraal.

Check the service for your flight's arrival and your accommodation address. A flight landing time leaves out walking through the terminal, collecting luggage and reaching the stop. If your flight is delayed, update the journey rather than relying on the original connection.

For a return flight after a festival evening, work backwards from the airline's check-in and boarding requirements. The airport page lists terminal opening from 04:30 to 23:00, so do not plan on using the terminal as an overnight waiting room. Confirm the first usable transfer or arrange an alternative that meets the airline's deadline.

Driving, access needs and weather

The GLOW practical page lists daily road closures during November 7-14, with named streets including Emmasingel closed from 18:00 to 23:55. Several garages, including Stadhuisplein, Witte Dame and Admirant, have a separate no-entry window of 18:30 to 00:30; exits may also be delayed. Check the full list and your parking entrance, not just a navigation pin.

Ask accommodation for an arrival approach if you will reach the centre during those hours. Leaving luggage at the property earlier may simplify the evening, but only if reception and storage arrangements allow it.

GLOW describes the route as wheelchair accessible and links an accessibility map. Check the specific entrances, toilets, resting places and assistance you need rather than assuming every installation has identical facilities. The organizer also warns visitors with photosensitive epilepsy about flashing-light exposure. Ask the organizer about the work you are considering and seek clinical advice about your own circumstances.

Bring layers and footwear you can walk in for an evening, and check the forecast before leaving. Agree on an indoor break and a shorter route if rain changes the plan. For broader family-trip decisions, use our Netherlands with kids guide; this festival page covers the evening event rather than a complete country holiday.

Useful apps, offline plans and OpenSim data

Use NS for rail checks, 9292 for door-to-door journeys and the official GLOW pages for programme and map updates. OVpay's app can help with journey records and missed checkouts, but it is not mandatory for ordinary contactless boarding.

Before leaving Wi-Fi, open the documents you have saved. Keep your accommodation address, return journey and any permitted stadium ticket file accessible. A screenshot is not automatically an accepted substitute for a ticket: follow the issuer's instructions. Arrange a meeting point with your group that you can describe without sharing a live location.

OpenSim Netherlands plans can support transport checks, current programme pages and family messaging between displays. On October 14, the public catalog listed a fixed 5GB, 30-day Netherlands plan for USD4.76, marked eligible for top-up. Confirm the current offer and terms before purchasing.

That defined allowance is a useful option when your existing plan does not include Netherlands data and the next transport update is needed away from Wi-Fi. If you already have sufficient included roaming, keeping it may be simpler. A data plan cannot release the map sooner, reserve a stadium place or guarantee reception in a crowd.

Use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility, and read when to install an eSIM before travel. Keep the offline return plan even after arranging data.

Sources and updates

Information was checked on October 14, 2026, against GLOW's route, practical guidance, stadium terms and current announcements, Eindhoven tourism, the airport, Bravo and Dutch journey-planning sources. Recheck the released map, performance instructions, closures and date-specific return service before travelling. This guide will be updated for material changes to those arrangements and remains the single guide to this edition.
