Kyushu Basho 2026: sold-out tickets, official resale and Fukuoka travel

The Kyushu Basho runs from November 8 to 22, 2026, at Fukuoka Kokusai Center. General admission is sold out. The Japan Sumo Association directs visitors to an official face-value resale service, while Ticket Oosumo says the venue will not sell same-day tickets. Do not travel to the hall expecting to join a morning ticket queue.
If sumo is the main reason for your Fukuoka trip, settle the ticket before making a new non-refundable booking. If you already have one, check how you must collect it and the opening time for your particular date. The last three days open later than the rest.
The photograph shows the November 2009 tournament, not the 2026 crowd, seating availability or current participants.
Sold out does not mean every resale route is equivalent
The Association's current November admission page states that tickets are sold out and links to the official resale service. Start there rather than following an unsolicited message or a sponsored listing.
The Japanese Ticket Oosumo page separately confirms no advance or same-day sales at the Fukuoka Kokusai Center ticket office. Its published wheelchair-seat telephone reservation process began on October 22; that is a separate access arrangement, not a new general-admission release. Ask the official service about availability and your requirements before travelling.
The useful distinction is between a completed ticket purchase and a request, preorder or place in a checkout. A booking attempt is not admission. Keep your confirmation and check its status directly with the seller if anything is unclear.
How official face-value resale works
Ticket Oosumo's resale guide describes first-come purchases paid by credit card. The buyer pays the ticket amount plus the applicable fees originally paid by the seller. The collection method stays with the listed ticket and cannot be changed; the resale buyer's registered name appears on the ticket.
Eligible QR tickets can be listed until 23:59 three days before the visit. Eligible unissued Seven-Eleven tickets have a later listing deadline, 23:59 the day before. Those are listing cutoffs, not appointments when new seats are guaranteed to appear.
Completed resale purchases cannot be changed or cancelled. Check the date, quantity, seating and collection terms before payment. The guide also warns that improperly resold tickets may be refused at entry.
Do not treat a stranger's collection code or photograph as proof that the ticket is transferable. If you cannot use the official purchase process, ask its support service about your situation rather than inventing an address or relying on a private seller's reassurance.
Chair seats, floor boxes and the cost of buying for two
The English November ticket page publishes these examples, including tax but before any applicable purchase fees:
| Seat | Weekday face value | Weekend face value | Quantity to notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chair C | JPY2,000 | JPY2,500 | One person |
| Chair A | JPY4,500 | JPY5,000 | One person |
| Box A | JPY44,000 | JPY52,000 | Four-person box |
| Special C box | JPY19,000 | JPY19,000 | Two people |
| Pair seats with table | JPY19,000 | JPY19,000 | Two people; chair seating |
These are reference prices, not available inventory. Boxes are sold as units. Do not divide a four-person price by four and assume two visitors can buy half a box. Floor boxes involve shoes off and cushion seating; consider your comfort during a long visit.
For children, the Japanese ticket page requires admission from age four. A younger child also needs a ticket if occupying a seat. Do not plan around an assumed child discount or bring an extra person beyond the ticket's capacity.
Door times change on November 20, 21 and 22
The Association's date-specific admission schedule gives:
| Visit date | Doors open |
|---|---|
| November 8-19 | 08:45 |
| November 20-21 | 10:30 |
| November 22 | 10:00 |
All times are in Japan. Your ticket is for its specified day, not a short afternoon slot unless you bought a separate guided product with its own meeting time.
The tournament day ends around 18:00. An early arrival lets you watch the lower divisions before the later programme; you do not need to sit through the entire day. Match timing can vary, so do not arrange a tight onward train around an assumed final-bout time.
Ticket Oosumo permits re-entry, with return by 17:00. Keep the ticket with you and use the instructed re-entry process. A café break is different from leaving your ticket with someone else.
The Association's annual schedule sets the November ranking announcement for October 26. As of this guide's October 24 check, do not mistake September's ranking page for the new November list or treat a ranking as a guarantee that a wrestler will compete on your date.
Ticket collection: a confirmation email may not be enough
The English Ticket Oosumo route requires collection at Seven-Eleven in Japan. Follow the purchase-completion screen and email, and collect the physical ticket before arriving at the arena. The page warns that a lost ticket will not admit you.
Resale is different: its collection method follows the listing. Read that method rather than assuming an English-site purchase rule applies to every QR or unissued ticket. If you booked a guided visit, use that operator's confirmed collection or meeting instructions instead.
Save instructions offline, note the collection deadline and keep enough time for a problem at the store. Do not assume that your hotel or rented apartment accepts deliveries. Ask before selecting a delivery address.
Getting to Fukuoka Kokusai Center
Use the full venue name and 2-2 Chikkohonmachi, Hakata-ku. Fukuoka Kokusai Center is not the neighbouring Marine Messe or International Congress Center.
The venue's official access page estimates these walks:
| Starting point | Published walk to Kokusai Center |
|---|---|
| Gofukumachi subway station | 12 minutes |
| Nakasu-Kawabata subway station | 15 minutes |
| Tenjin station | 22 minutes |
| JR Hakata station | 27 minutes |
Allow more time for your pace, crossings and rain. If walking from Gofukumachi suits your group, it avoids depending on finding a particular bus bay. It is still a street walk, not an underground entrance into the arena.
The Association's tournament access page lists buses 88 and 99 from the Hakata station area and routes from Tenjin. The venue's English page and the Association currently give different Hakata bay letters. Check the current stop signs and destination on the day; do not board solely because an old guide names a letter.
Save both your outward route and a return option. Leave time between the day's finish, walking or bus queues, and any reserved train or airport connection. Published taxi journey estimates are not guarantees during an event departure.
A practical first visit, with or without children
Choose seating around how long you want to stay and how comfortably you can sit. A chair can be a more useful choice than a closer floor box if knees, backs or young children make cushion seating difficult. Ask about access arrangements before accepting whichever resale listing appears first.
Keep luggage small and ask the organizer about anything bulky. Follow the event's current rules for food, photography and bags rather than rules from a Tokyo arena or another sport. Do not stand in an aisle for photographs or block another spectator's view.
If you have no ticket, make a Fukuoka day you would still enjoy instead of spending it waiting outside the venue. For a later trip, the Association lists the next Tokyo tournament for January 10-24, 2027, with advance sales from December 5, 2026. That is a separate event and purchase, not an exchange entitlement.
Use mobile data for the trip, not as a ticket workaround
Translation, official booking pages, collection instructions and route updates are useful when you are away from the hotel. Save the important information offline first. A working phone connection cannot create a resale listing, prove a private seller's legitimacy or replace a required paper ticket.
For an overseas visitor continuing beyond the arena, OpenSim's Japan plans provide data for the wider trip. The public catalog checked on October 24 listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.40, with top-up supported on that plan. Review the selected allowance and conditions; this is not a claim that it is the cheapest option or that indoor service is guaranteed. If your existing roaming allowance already fits, another plan may be unnecessary.
Use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility, and read when to install an eSIM. For broader plan choices, see the Japan eSIM guide. Our Japan family guide covers itinerary choices rather than this tournament's ticket search.
