Lost Lands 2026 guide: camping, shuttles and entry

Lost Lands returns to Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio from Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20, 2026. The Thursday pre-party is September 17, and earlier campground arrivals begin on Tuesday evening.

The difficult decision is no longer the lineup. It is where to sleep and how to reach the site. Official 2026 camping is sold out, Friday traffic is expected to be slow, and a vehicle that leaves a campground cannot drive back into it. Travelers staying in Columbus can use the ticketed Dino Express, while separate shuttles serve Columbus airport, Chicago, Cleveland/Akron and Detroit.

The short answer: if you do not already hold a camping pass, base the trip in downtown Columbus near the Dino Express pickup at 100 E Rich Street or buy a Headbanger Hotel package through the official site. If you drive, use the South Lot with the correct pass. Download the Lost Lands and Bus.com apps, save every ticket and route before departure, and agree on fixed meeting times because mobile service can slow inside the crowd.

Lost Lands 2026 at a glance

Start with the wristband, not a resale message

Lost Lands admission covers Friday through Sunday. There are no single-day passes. An Early Entry pass does not replace festival admission, and camping does not include admission. Each person arriving before Friday needs a three-day GA or VIP wristband plus an Early Entry pass valid for that arrival day.

Front Gate Tickets is the official ticket provider. Lost Lands says it has no official ticket exchange and warns that social groups claiming to be an official exchange are scams. The original purchaser also needs to handle a Will Call order when that delivery method applies.

Wristbands have started shipping. When one arrives, register it through the link supplied with the order. Do not tighten it while testing the fit. The festival says a lost or damaged wristband or camping pass carries a USD 50 replacement fee.

The current ticket FAQ remains the best place to resolve a missing shipment, address change or Will Call issue. Keep the order number and purchaser's name in a separate note before traveling.

Camping is sold out, so choose a real alternative

The official Front Gate camping page lists 2026 camping as sold out. A traveler without a pass should not arrive at Legend Valley expecting to buy a campsite at the gate.

The two practical alternatives are:

1. Stay in downtown Columbus near the Dino Express pickup and ride the shuttle each day.
2. Stay elsewhere and drive to South Lot Weekend Parking with the correct advance pass.

Headbanger Hotel packages combine admission, accommodation and dedicated transportation, but availability and cancellation terms belong to the package seller. An ordinary hotel booking does not include a Dino Express pass.

Off-site private campgrounds may appear in search and public discussions. They are separate businesses. Verify the address, transport, cancellation policy, late return access and whether the quoted price covers one person, one vehicle or one site. Lost Lands cannot solve a booking dispute with an unrelated campground.

Match Early Entry to the day you reach camp

All campgrounds open at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15 and remain open around the clock through the weekend. Tuesday evening, Wednesday and Thursday arrivals require the corresponding Early Entry pass for every person, as well as festival admission.

The pass works forward, not backward. Tuesday entry includes Wednesday and Thursday access. A Thursday pass does not allow entry on Wednesday. The Thursday pre-party is included with an Early Entry pass and festival admission.

This matters for airport and long-haul shuttles. If the bus arrives on or before Thursday, every traveler needs the correct Early Entry pass. Do not book a Wednesday shuttle around a Thursday wristband and assume the box office will ignore the date.

Camp groups must solve arrival order before the road

Multiple camping vehicles must arrive together if the group wants adjacent sites. Spots cannot be reserved for a later car.

A friend arriving later on foot may join a group after passing campground security, but that person should know the campsite location or arrange a meeting at a named point. Public questions from 2026 repeatedly mention this problem because travelers expect to call after arrival, then discover that messages are delayed.

Save all of the following before the first vehicle enters:

• the campground name and color on the current map;
• a screenshot of the site's row or nearest landmark after parking;
• one meeting place in the Village Marketplace;
• two meeting times for a late arrival;
• the lead camper's name and vehicle description.

Someone dropped at the official rideshare lot must carry camping equipment through security and onward on foot. The festival recommends a small wagon. Do not pack more than the arriving person can move over grass and uneven ground.

Dino Express is the cleanest hotel route

The Dino Express connects downtown Columbus and Legend Valley. Passes cover unlimited round trips for the purchased three, four or five-day period. The current pickup is 100 E Rich Street, Columbus, with paid parking available nearby. Lost Lands estimates 40 to 60 minutes each way before queues and traffic.

Treat these as the reviewed schedule, not a guarantee. Use the Bus.com ticket and same-day message because capacity, loading and road conditions can change. A hotel being in Columbus does not mean it is close to the pickup. Check the walking route from the lobby to 100 E Rich Street before booking.

Airport and long-haul shuttles need their own booking

Lost Lands currently lists separate Bus.com services from Columbus airport, Chicago, Cleveland/Akron and Detroit. At review time, the displayed prices were USD 40 from Columbus airport, USD 90 from Chicago and USD 70 from Cleveland/Akron or Detroit, plus service fees.

These are not the Dino Express. The long-haul ticket is emailed by Bus.com and can also appear in its app. The festival asks travelers to limit luggage to one large bag or suitcase, normal camping equipment and one cooler.

Leave room between the flight and shuttle. A checked-bag delay, missed connection or airport security queue does not make a charter wait. The same rule applies on Monday: a shuttle delay can put a tight flight at risk. Book the return around the published bus arrival plus an airport buffer, not the last festival set.

Accessible long-haul vehicles are available by request. The current FAQ asks for that request at least four weeks before the festival. Contact the shuttle operator now rather than waiting for the pickup line.

South Lot works differently from campground parking

South Lot Weekend Parking can be used for daytime or overnight parking. Complimentary shuttles run between the lot and the main festival entrance 24 hours a day from the time camping opens. Vehicles may leave and return, but no one may sleep or set up camp in the lot.

That makes South Lot the better choice for someone who needs the car during the weekend. It is also where a later-arriving camping companion parks before entering on foot.

Campground vehicles follow a different rule. Once a vehicle leaves the campground, it cannot drive back in and will be directed to paid parking. The same one-entry rule applies to the parking areas attached to Forest, GA Tent-Only and Easy Camping. People can move in and out through the checkpoints with the correct wristband; the vehicle cannot.

Do not use a Reddit walking estimate as the route plan. Current public threads disagree about distance and waiting time because South Lot placement, shuttle loading and campsite destination change the trip. Use the official lot shuttle, carry only what you can manage, and allow more time when moving camping gear.

Plan the Sunday exit before choosing a flight

Several current first-time visitors are asking whether they can leave camp Sunday for a Monday job or flight. The answer depends on where the vehicle is parked and whether the driver can safely leave.

A campground vehicle may exit once, but it will not be admitted again. South Lot permits re-entry. Dino Express runs late Sunday night under the published Friday-to-Sunday schedule.

Do not assume a 3 p.m. Monday flight from Columbus is automatically comfortable. The group still has to break camp, move gear, reach the vehicle or shuttle, drive through festival traffic and clear the airport. If the return is time critical, pack most of camp before the final night, keep travel clothes sealed, and choose a departure that allows for an uncertain road or shuttle journey.

Driving after a weekend with little sleep is the larger risk. Use a rested driver or stay another night. The festival's 24-hour medical team can help with a health problem, but it does not turn an exhausted departure into a safe one.

Pack separately for camp and the stage area

Campground rules and stage-area rules are not the same. A legal campsite item may still be refused at the festival entrance.

Inside the stages area, a single-compartment backpack or purse can be no larger than 12 x 12 inches. Fanny packs, empty hydration packs, empty reusable bottles, phones, external batteries, chargers, earplugs and walkie-talkies are permitted under the current rules.

Outside food, alcohol, glass, umbrellas, chairs, hammocks, professional camera equipment, selfie sticks and large bags are prohibited from the stages area. An attendee can bring up to two empty disposable plastic water bottles, or an empty reusable bottle or hydration pack, then use the free refill stations.

Campers have a separate alcohol limit for guests aged 21 or older: one case of up to 30 cans of beer, one case of up to 30 cans of hard seltzer, or one box or plastic container of wine per eligible person. Liquor, glass bottles and kegs are prohibited. Read the complete current item list before packing because security can refuse other unsafe items.

Water, charging and sleep are part of the route

Free water refill stations operate across the venue and campgrounds. The festival also lists 16-ounce water bottles at USD 2. Bring the permitted empty bottle instead of relying on a queue every time.

Lockers with charging are available in the festival grounds, VIP and Village Marketplace. Reserve early if the phone carries the shuttle ticket and hotel details. A power bank belongs in the day bag, but a charger does not solve congestion or a damaged phone.

Most campground showers run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and charge a fee outside Glamping and VIP. The festival says a new central campground shower location will operate 24 hours, with its exact position due on the final map. Do not build the morning around that location until it appears.

Medical staff are available 24 hours. Ask for help instead of delaying care. Prescription medication must be in the original pharmacy-labeled container showing the patient, prescription and dosage.

Accessibility requires a terrain plan

Legend Valley has grass, dirt, gravel, steep inclines and declines. Lost Lands does not provide wheelchair or scooter rentals. Two Access Centers issue credentials and explain services, and accessible viewing areas are listed at Prehistoric Stage and Wompy Woods.

Limited accessible South Lot spaces require both a South Lot pass and the government placard or plate, with the person to whom it was issued in the vehicle. Accessible lot shuttles are available, but the festival asks travelers who need a lift-equipped shuttle to contact the access team.

The official guidance does not guarantee continuous temporary power for medical equipment. Bring a suitable battery and every cable. Access Centers will try to help charge equipment, but that should be backup rather than the only plan.

What a Roaming eSIM can and cannot improve

A Roaming eSIM gives a compatible unlocked phone a separate United States data plan without replacing the usual SIM. That can be useful for airport directions, Bus.com messages, hotel check-in and maps before or after the festival. Install it before travel and keep the package's activation timing in mind.

The public catalog returned 37 United States plans on August 28. Current fixed-data examples included:

Prices and inventory can change. Those examples listed AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon in the coverage response, but that does not guarantee a particular connection, speed or priority at Legend Valley. A current public discussion reports inconsistent service across carriers once the venue fills. An eSIM cannot create spare tower capacity.

The useful Roaming eSIM edge is preparation and choice outside the densest crowd. A traveler can select a small current plan before departure, keep the regular SIM available, and top up an eligible selected plan without looking for a store in Columbus.
