Madrid Grand Prix 2026 guide: schedule, transport and entry

Madrid's first Formula 1 race at the new MADRING circuit runs from Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, 2026. Formula 1 returns to the Madrid region after the last championship race at Jarama in 1981. The new 5.416 km circuit has 22 corners and Sunday features a 57-lap race.

The most important trip decision is not which central Madrid metro station is closest to your hotel. It is whether the ticket belongs to MADRING North or MADRING South. The two areas have different stations, gates and fan zones, and spectators cannot cross between them from inside the circuit.

The short answer: sections 1A through 5 are in MADRING South, where Feria de Madrid or Mar de Cristal is normally the useful stop. Sections 6 through 17 are in MADRING North, where Valdebebas is the main station. Check the grandstand code and gate on the ticket before leaving. There is no general parking at the venue, no re-entry after the ticket is validated, and the organizer has not published a numerical bag-size limit.

This guide was checked on August 27, 2026 against MADRING, Formula 1, current transport information and recent visitor questions. The organizer says ticket holders will receive a personalized access message a few days before the event. That message and the live ticket account should override an earlier screenshot or third-party guide.

Check North or South before choosing a route

MADRING's official access table is more useful than a generic map pin. Start with the section or grandstand code in the ticket account, then match it to the access letter, gate and recommended station.

The official MADRING access table names the station for each grandstand. It also says a personalized route will be sent before the event. Save that message because two people attending the same race can need different transport even when they leave the same hotel.

MADRING South from central Madrid or the airport

Feria de Madrid is on Metro line 8, which also serves the airport and Nuevos Ministerios. It is the main stop for South sections 1, 1A, 2 and 2A, plus the listed hospitality entrances. Mar de Cristal, on lines 4 and 8, is the recommended stop for most Section 3, 4 and 5 grandstands.

Do not use Feria de Madrid simply because every search result calls it the circuit station. A Section 4 ticket routed through Mar de Cristal can leave you on a more sensible side of the South zone.

MADRING North from central Madrid

Valdebebas on Cercanias line C-1 is the main station for the North zone. The official page describes connections from Atocha, Recoletos or Nuevos Ministerios with a change at Chamartin. Check the live journey planner because a normal weekday route may not reflect race-week capacity measures or service changes.

San Lorenzo on Metro line 4 is also listed for many access D tickets in Sections 6 through 10A. It is not the general answer for every North grandstand. Compare the official table with the gate on the ticket before choosing between metro and Cercanias.

Buses, taxis and private hire

MADRING lists several EMT bus routes for both zones and designated taxi or private-hire pickup and drop-off areas. A car can reach a designated drop-off point, but that does not mean it can wait near the gate. Save the assigned pickup area and expect traffic controls around IFEMA and Valdebebas.

Parking is off site and requires another transfer

There is no general public parking at MADRING. The official paid alternative is at Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, with a shuttle to the circuit. Spaces are limited and must be reserved through the current MADRING link.

This is not a shortcut to a specific grandstand. It adds a shuttle and then the walk from the circuit drop-off to the assigned gate. Public transport is usually the cleaner plan for an international visitor staying near a useful metro or Cercanias connection.

PRM parking is separate. The organizer says eligible ticket holders will receive instructions for requesting a space, subject to validation and availability. Do not buy ordinary Metropolitano parking and assume it provides the same access.

The full MADRING weekend schedule

All times below are Madrid local time. The organizer says the programme will be updated, so check the live MADRING schedule before setting a final arrival time.

Venue hours are 08:00 to 20:00. A Sunday plan that assumes you will be back in central Madrid immediately after the 17:00 finish ignores the walk, crowd release and station queue. Leave a large buffer before a fixed train, flight or dinner reservation.

Tickets, QR delivery and fan-zone access

MADRING sells only three-day tickets for the ordinary grandstand and general-admission inventory. The same QR ticket is valid across the weekend. The organizer says the QR code and numbered seat details will appear by email and in the ticket account before the event.

If the QR code has not arrived, check the purchasing account and spam folder before using a social-media reseller or paying someone who claims to regenerate it. Keep the order confirmation and the purchaser's contact details available for official support.

Tickets are not open for private resale. The current FAQ says family or friend reassignment instructions will be sent closer to the event, while the terms say transfers require prior written authorization. Use only the official account flow when it appears. A private payment and forwarded screenshot may be cancelled.

Each ticket includes access to its corresponding fan zone. It does not give a route through the circuit from South to North. Friends holding tickets in opposite zones need to agree on a meeting point outside the controlled venue before one of them validates a ticket.

Entry rules that change the day

No re-entry after validation

Once the ticket is validated, you cannot leave and return that day. Bring medication and other permitted essentials with you, but keep the search rules in mind. Do not plan to eat outside, collect something from a hotel or meet a late-arriving friend after entering.

Food and drink are prohibited

The current FAQ prohibits outside food and drink. The terms also list bottles, cans and glass containers unless later venue regulations expressly allow an exception. Water fountains and food areas will be available inside. Check the final access message for any medical or infant-food procedure rather than relying on a previous Formula 1 venue's rule.

The bag policy has no published dimensions yet

MADRING says bags may be searched and the ticket site says large backpacks, suitcases and wheeled luggage are not permitted. As of August 27, neither the public FAQ nor the ticket terms gives a numerical bag size.

Some commercial guides publish a 45 by 20 by 33 cm limit. That measurement does not appear in the current MADRING pages reviewed for this guide. Carry the smallest practical soft bag, avoid wheeled luggage, and check the organizer's final message. Do not buy a bag solely to match an unsourced number.

The terms also prohibit umbrellas, prams, selfie sticks, drones, radio scanners, walkie-talkies, bicycles, scooters, skates and several other items. Personal phones and ordinary still cameras are permitted for private, non-commercial use unless later instructions say otherwise. Professional or live-broadcast equipment requires accreditation.

Children, hearing protection and accessibility

Every attendee needs a ticket except a child under 2 who does not occupy a seat. Minors under 18 must remain with a responsible adult. The FAQ also sets a maximum ratio of one parent or legal guardian for every two children under 2, and may require written authorization when a child under 6 attends with another responsible adult.

The organizer recommends hearing protection, especially for children. Bring it with you because re-entry is not allowed.

MADRING says all fan zones are accessible and adapted toilets are available. The South fan zones use an asphalt surface. The North fan zones use stabilized natural ground that may remain slightly uneven, with artificial-turf paths to key areas. PRM tickets and companion tickets must be purchased in the same transaction. Assistance dogs are permitted, but the organizer advises considering the event's noise level.

Where to stay without choosing the wrong transport line

Choose a base from the ticket zone, not from a hotel roundup alone.

Central Madrid remains reasonable if the route has one clear chain and no tight final connection. The phrase "near IFEMA" is less useful than a walkable station and the correct ticket zone.

Save the Madrid race files before leaving

• Ticket account and email: save the QR ticket, seat details and personalized gate message.
• Google Maps or Apple Maps: save the hotel, station, assigned gate and an outside-the-venue meeting point.
• Metro de Madrid and Renfe: check the live line 8 or C-1 route and the return service.
• AEMET: use Spain's official weather information near the event instead of a fixed forecast copied two weeks early.
• Formula 1 app: keep the weekend schedule and session updates available.

Download the ticket, station route, circuit access table, accommodation address and last workable return connection. Screenshots are useful backups, but retain the original QR or PDF where staff can scan and enlarge it.

Mobile data and Roaming eSIM in Madrid

Mobile data can help with a changed platform, the personalized access message, ticket support and a separated group. It cannot bypass a closed gate or guarantee full speed when a large crowd is using the same local cells. Save the essential files offline.

Prices, inventory and package fields can change. A listed operator or network type does not guarantee service at every gate, grandstand or crowded fan zone.

For an international visitor, Roaming eSIM makes the allowance, validity, named networks and top-up field visible before the journey. The four examples above support top-up, but not every live plan does. You can install the selected profile before travel and keep the usual SIM available for its existing calls and texts. That is more controllable than arriving without a data plan and depending on venue Wi-Fi or an airport SIM search, but it does not create priority on a busy network.

Should I use Valdebebas or Feria de Madrid for MADRING?

Use Valdebebas as the main station for North sections 6 through 17. Use Feria de Madrid for South sections 1, 1A, 2 and 2A and listed hospitality products. Mar de Cristal is recommended for most Section 3, 4 and 5 grandstands. Match the ticket code to the official access table.

Can I walk between MADRING North and South inside the circuit?

No. The two areas are independent and are not connected for spectator movement inside the circuit. Meet friends outside before validating a ticket if they hold tickets in another zone.

What time is the Madrid Grand Prix race?

The Formula 1 race starts at 15:00 Madrid time on Sunday, September 13. The drivers' parade starts at 13:00, and F2 and F3 races run earlier that day.

When will my MADRING QR ticket and seat arrive?

Can I transfer or resell a MADRING ticket?

Is there parking at the Madrid Formula 1 circuit?

Which fan zone can I use?

The ticket includes the fan zone corresponding to its assigned area. It does not include unrestricted movement into the fan zone on the other side of the circuit.
