Monterey Car Week 2026 runs through Sunday, August 16 across Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Seaside and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Sunday belongs to the ticketed Pebble Beach Concours, with free Concours Village and RetroAuto as a lower-cost alternative. Choose a day before choosing events

Trying to cover Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Seaside and Laguna Seca on the same day usually turns the schedule into a drive between queues. Use the official location map to keep each day within one part of the peninsula.

Wednesday is the practical split day. Race fans can spend it at Laguna Seca, while visitors who prefer a free street plan can use Carmel and Pacific Grove. Free events still need a parking plan

Free does not mean empty, and it does not mean every part of an event is free. The official Exotics on Broadway listing says the display on Broadway Avenue remains free for spectators on Saturday. The enclosed Del Monte Boulevard area requires a ticket. The official travel page lists a free shuttle from General Jim Moore Boulevard and Eucalyptus Road, operating from 09:00 to 17:00.

Concours d'Lemons is free for spectators at Seaside City Hall Lawn on Saturday from 08:00 to 13:30. Pairing it with the free Broadway display is more realistic than driving across the peninsula for an event at Pebble Beach or Laguna Seca.

Concours Village and RetroAuto have no entry fee from Thursday through Sunday. Some forums inside the wider Pebble Beach programme require registration and payment, so open the exact listing instead of assuming the whole site works as one free event.

The Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance is free to watch at designated points on Thursday. Cars line up before 07:00 and the official start is 09:30. Arriving for a later roadside glimpse is a different plan from reaching the start, and road controls can change access as the tour moves.

Treat traffic as part of the ticket

Monterey County has a dedicated Car Week advisory map. Open it from the official travel-alert page before each drive, then save the day's closures. Visitors can text CARWEEK to 65513 for event safety updates. Caltrans QuickMap remains useful for highway incidents outside the event map.

Do not use a normal weekend travel time for Saturday or Sunday. A recent Monterey discussion described a Carmel-to-Pacific Grove trip taking far longer than usual during Car Week. Match the parking plan to the venue

There is no universal Car Week car park. These are the main handoffs to understand:

The Pebble Beach FAQ says general admission drivers are directed to parking along Del Monte Forest roads and collected by trailing shuttles. VIP packages use designated lots. Rideshare pickup and drop-off is at Concours Village. Follow the current directions and parking page because saved instructions from another year can point to the wrong gate.

At WeatherTech Raceway, the ticket information page directs major-event traffic through the South Boundary Road entrance. A race ticket and a preferred parking pass are not the same product. Check both before joining Highway 68 traffic.

Pick a base that matches the events

Monterey is the most useful base for downtown displays, the free trolley and an arrival through Monterey Regional Airport. Seaside reduces the handoff to Exotics on Broadway, Concours d'Lemons and several auction or festival venues. Carmel works for Ocean Avenue displays and a Pebble Beach day. Pacific Grove suits its own street events and the north side of the peninsula, but it does not remove the road to Laguna Seca.

Monterey Regional Airport is the nearest commercial airport. Its official ground transport page lists permitted taxis, rideshare, buses and rental cars. Construction has changed some nearby bus stops in 2026, so use the current Monterey-Salinas Transit planner rather than an old airport blog.

San Jose and San Francisco airports can work for a longer California trip, but neither gives Car Week visitors one simple event shuttle. Compare the complete journey, rental-car availability, parking product and return flight time. A cheaper flight is not cheaper if it forces a missed event or an extra hotel night.

Keep tickets separate and available offline

Every event controls its own admission. The Pebble Beach Concours ticket covers Sunday entry, parking and internal shuttle service. It does not admit the holder to every auction, race or show during Car Week.

Pebble Beach says 2026 tickets are digital and emailed before the event, but visitors may print a backup. Save the ticket to the phone or camera roll before reaching the gate. Once scanned, the visitor receives a wristband and the digital ticket is void for another entry scan. Parking passes held at Will Call require photo identification and cannot be collected on Sunday.

WeatherTech Raceway lists separate grounds and paddock tickets, multi-day products, parking, corrals, camping and hospitality. Buy through the official ticket route, then read the product name again. Do not assume a paddock mention on one product applies to a different ticket.

Keep each confirmation in a folder named for its date. Add the venue, entrance, parking product, ticket holder and support contact to the filename or note. That small step is more useful than scrolling through a crowded inbox beside a gate.

Make a realistic family plan

The Pebble Beach Concours FAQ says children under 12 do not need a general admission ticket when accompanied by a paying adult. It also warns that large strollers are difficult to maneuver on the show field. Seating is limited, although visitors may bring a low chair with a seat no more than six inches from the ground or a blanket for the first-come awards area.

WeatherTech Raceway says children 15 and under are free and that general admission includes open paddock and grandstand access. That does not remove the need for hearing protection, sun protection, water, breaks and a clear adult meeting plan. Confirm the exact child ticket and waiver instructions attached to the product you buy.

For a lower-cost family day, choose one free town display and leave before the late traffic peak. Concours d'Lemons, the Broadway Avenue portion of Exotics on Broadway and Concours Village each offer a visible activity without forcing a child through several distant venues. Save the pages and apps that answer one question

There is no single official app covering every independent Car Week event. Use a small set of reliable tools instead:

Save the official event page, ticket, parking map and organizer contact for every paid event. Share the same plan with the group and name one meeting point that does not depend on everybody having service. "At the show" is not a meeting point when several hundred cars and thousands of visitors sit between two gates.
