Silver Lancia Montecarlo among club cars at the 2022 NEC Classic Motor Show

The NEC Classic Motor Show runs from November 13 to 15, 2026, in Birmingham. Start by choosing a day around the cars and talks you want, rather than buying a weekend pass automatically. The newly announced Meguiar's Club Showcase has its winner presentation at noon on Sunday; Friday has a separate Hall of Fame introduction.

For a first visit, allow a full day and choose a few priorities. Club conversations and restoration questions can take longer than walking past the cars. If you are arriving by rail, book to Birmingham International, not simply to a station with Birmingham in its name.

Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the NEC?

DayOrganizer's opening hoursUseful reason to choose it
Friday, November 1310:00-18:00The Hall of Fame introductions are at noon
Saturday, November 1409:00-18:00The longest opening day for a broad visit
Sunday, November 1509:00-17:00See the Meguiar's winner presentation at noon

These hours follow the show organizer's visit page, checked on October 24. The NEC's separate event listing currently gives different opening times. Recheck the organizer's page and your ticket before arranging an early train. Do not treat a venue listing's broad price range as a checkout quote.

The Hall of Fame announcement puts the Friday introduction at the Meet the Experts Theatre. Its car shortlist includes the Jensen Interceptor, Ferrari F40 and Lotus Esprit. A shortlist is not an announcement of who has won.

The new Meguiar's lineup gives Sunday a clear focus

The organizer published the 2026 Club Showcase lineup on October 23. Hall 1 brings together cars that have already won recognition elsewhere, with the title decided on Sunday.

There is enough variety to make this more than a row of expensive sports cars. The selection includes a restored 2002 BMW M3 E46, a 1961 Triumph Italia 2000, a Paul Smith Mini, an original 1987 Ferrari 328 GTB and a 1959 Edsel Ranger. The 1997 Mazda MX-5 is interesting for a different reason: the organizer describes one-family ownership and unusually complete original equipment.

Look at the cars before the presentation, then return for noon if the result matters to you. Leave space afterward for club stands you missed. The previous winner's Cortina is historical context, not the 2026 result.

Advance tickets: compare the whole order

The organizer's admission page lists these advance amounts:

TicketFridaySaturdaySunday
Adult, 16+GBP47.20GBP42.20GBP40.20
Child, 5-15GBP28.75GBP29.25GBP27.25
Family, two adults and up to three under-16sGBP94.20GBP88.70GBP86.70

Adult and family amounts include the GBP2.95 transaction fee, charged once per order. Do not multiply that fee by every person. Child tickets must accompany an adult purchase; under-fives enter free with a paying adult.

The Friday-Saturday pass is GBP69.20, Saturday-Sunday GBP63.20, and all three days GBP89.20, including that fee. Advance booking ends at midnight on November 12. Check the final basket for your party and any eligible club reduction. These are published advance figures, not a promise of the on-the-day price.

A second day makes sense if you want long technical conversations or several timed sessions. If your aim is a general look around, start with one day. A discount on a longer visit still costs more than a shorter visit you would enjoy.

Build a short route through the show

The show's general visitor guidance describes club displays, restoration workshops, a Podcast Café, a modified zone and cars for sale. Its 2026 theme is "Débutant", encouraging vehicles new to this show.

Choose one main interest before arrival: restoration advice, a particular marque, or cars you have never seen in person. Add one timed appointment and leave the rest flexible. Do not schedule every hall before you have seen the current map.

For children, look for the organizer's Family Friendly signs. Sitting in a selected car requires permission; a display car is not automatically a play exhibit. The Family Zone can break up a long walk. Check individual activity conditions rather than assuming every ride is included or suitable for every age.

The organizer says fuller schedules and its digital guide will appear through the visit page. A celebrity's name on a general page is not a confirmed appearance at every time on all three days.

Train and airport arrivals: use the right station

The NEC's directions put Birmingham International station about five minutes' walk from the venue. Follow the covered link and exhibition signs; allow extra time for the particular hall, ticket checks and your walking pace.

Starting pointRoute to planDetail worth checking
Birmingham city centreTrain from New Street to Birmingham InternationalYour dated service and return connection
Birmingham AirportAir-Rail Link to Birmingham International, then the NEC linkThe airport shuttle does not deliver you to your exhibition stand
Elsewhere in BritainRail itinerary ending at Birmingham InternationalChanges, engineering work and any train-specific ticket restriction

Birmingham Airport's rail page says the Air-Rail Link is free and normally operates from 03:30 to 00:30 daily. It quotes about ten minutes between International and New Street on a direct train. Neither figure includes collecting luggage, waiting or walking through the exhibition complex.

You do not need to invent a flight itinerary to use the public airport-to-station connection. If your hotel is branded "airport", check its actual entrance and walking route separately; proximity on a map does not prove a convenient footpath.

Driving and parking: admission is a separate purchase

The show organizer currently quotes GBP14.95 advance parking and GBP19.95 on the day on its visit page. Older guides may show a lower amount. Confirm the product and date in the NEC's booking system before paying.

The NEC parking page says standard advance parking saves GBP5 when booked before midnight the day before arrival. It uses number-plate recognition. Enter the registration correctly and save the confirmation with its instructions; an old forum answer about printed permits is not your booking's rule.

Use B40 1NT for the site, then follow event signs and staff rather than the sat-nav's final pin. Standard parking may involve a walk or free shuttle. The venue lists accessible bays as first-come, first-served even when parking is prepaid, so prepayment is not a reserved accessible space.

Compare the full rail fare for your party against fuel and parking. Neither option is always cheaper. If someone in the group cannot manage a long car-park walk, settle the access route before choosing a parking product.

Bags, access and a manageable day indoors

According to the NEC's facilities guidance, cloakrooms near the halls charge GBP2 per coat and GBP3 per bag. They open 30 minutes before the event and close when it closes; overnight storage is unavailable. Ask ahead about an unusually large bag and collect belongings before leaving the show.

The venue also lists baby-changing facilities and Changing Places toilets by Hall 2 in the Piazza and in the Hall 20 Atrium area. Those locations do not mean every facility is equally close to your route.

The NEC access page describes lifts, wheelchair-friendly toilets and the covered station link. Consult its detailed access information for your needs, and book mobility equipment ahead if required. Avoid turning a general accessibility statement into a promise about every crowded stand or vehicle display.

Bring comfortable footwear and allow for wet weather between your transport and the building. Plan a seated break before everyone is tired. If you need a particular diet or want to bring substantial food, confirm current event conditions rather than borrowing rules from another NEC show.

Keep the NEC map and return journey on your phone

Save admission and parking confirmations offline, along with the current floor plan once published. Use your rail operator's app or National Rail for dated journeys and disruption checks. Keep a screenshot of the return plan, but refresh service information before leaving the halls.

The NEC provides free visitor Wi-Fi. If it covers your needs, or your existing UK allowance is suitable, you may not need another plan. For an overseas visitor who also needs maps and messages between the airport, hotel and station, OpenSim's United Kingdom plans provide a separate UK data option rather than relying only on venue Wi-Fi. The public catalog checked on October 24 listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.14; that plan supports top-up. Review the chosen package before purchase. Mobile data does not guarantee reception at a busy stand or change rail and admission rules.

Use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility, and read when to install an eSIM before departure. For a longer trip with children, the United Kingdom family guide covers the wider itinerary. Visitors combining continental car shows can compare the separate dates and transport in our Époqu'Auto guide.
