Pattaya Marathon 2026 runs from Terminal 21 Pattaya on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27. The official schedule closes roads at midnight on both race days. Saturday traffic is due to reopen at 9 a.m.; Sunday traffic is due to reopen at 11 a.m. Runners should use the time on their own entry and arrive before the closure blocks the most direct route. Other visitors should avoid crossing the course during those windows.

The event has sold out. Current local reporting says 21,727 runners from 58 countries are registered, so this is not a normal early morning in Pattaya. The 10K, wheelchair race and family run are on Saturday. The marathon and half marathon follow on Sunday.

The immediate decision: if you are running the 10K or 4.5K on Saturday, bib collection has already ended according to the organizer's timetable. Do not buy or borrow another runner's bib. If you are entered in the marathon or half marathon, the final listed collection window is noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Terminal 21 Pattaya.

This guide was checked at 1:30 a.m. Thailand time on September 26, 2026. Race operations, weather and police directions can still change. The organizer and authorities at the course override this page.

Half marathon, Sunday5:10 a.m.8:40 a.m.2:30 to 5 a.m.11 a.m.

All starts and finishes use the Terminal 21 Pattaya area in North Pattaya. The organizer places the main hub by Dolphin Roundabout, where North Pattaya Road meets Pattaya Second Road. Keep the confirmation slip and official runner instructions available offline because the schedule alone does not show an assigned block or every entry condition.

Pattaya Marathon road closures begin at midnight

The official event timetable says roads close at 12 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. That is the planning boundary even if a navigation app continues to draw a route through the course.

The organizer's course description covers North Pattaya Road, Pattaya Beach Road, Pattaya Second Road, Thappraya Road, Jomtien Second Road, Sukhumvit Road and Jomtien Beach Road. The shorter Saturday races remain closer to North Pattaya, Naklua, Beach Road and Second Road. Sunday's marathon and half marathon spread the impact farther through Pattaya and Jomtien.

Do not assume every named road is fully closed for the entire window. Police can use full closures, lane controls and rolling releases. Equally, do not assume a road is open because a map app has not caught up.

What hotel guests should do

Ask the hotel a precise question: "Which road can a car use during the marathon closure?" A promise to call a taxi is not the same as a route that reaches the entrance.

If the hotel is inside or beside the course, agree one pickup point outside the restricted area and save it as a map pin. Walk the route in daylight before relying on it before 3 a.m. Keep luggage light enough to move without a vehicle if the final block is closed.

Anyone leaving Pattaya for a flight should avoid a tight transfer during the Sunday closure. Add time for the car to reach the hotel, get around the course and join Sukhumvit Road. The airport bus, a private car and a ride-hailing booking can all be delayed by the same street restrictions.

Where drivers should not improvise

The organizer lists parking at Terminal 21 Pattaya, Central Marina, Lotus North Pattaya and Pattaya City Hall, and recommends allowing 75 to 90 extra minutes. That is not a guarantee that the preferred entrance, space or exit will remain available when you arrive.

Do not drive toward the start hoping to find a last open lane. Choose one parking area before leaving, identify a second outside the course, and follow police directions when they conflict with the saved route. A passenger drop-off should also be on the correct side of the closure rather than directly at the start arch.

Pattaya City operates a live camera map that can help a traveler check visible road conditions. It is supporting evidence, not a route authorization. For city information, Pattaya also publishes Contact Center 1337 and the LINE account @pattayaconnect through its official data platform.

Bib collection and the sold-out race

The official Pattaya Marathon schedule listed these collection windows at Terminal 21 Pattaya:

DateTimeEligible distances
Thursday, September 24Noon to 8 p.m.All distances
Friday, September 25Noon to 10 p.m.All distances
Saturday, September 26Noon to 8 p.m.Marathon and half marathon only

There is no listed Saturday collection window for the 10K, wheelchair race or family run before their starts. Marathon and half-marathon runners still have Saturday afternoon, but should not leave collection until the final minutes.

The organizer permits someone else to collect a pack when the required confirmation slip, authorization letter and copy of the runner's identification are presented. Check the official instructions before sending a representative because an incomplete handover can still fail.

The organizer also says bib sales and transfers between runners are prohibited. That matters for more than timing. A borrowed bib can attach the wrong identity, age category and emergency information to the person on the course.

Plan the pre-dawn arrival, not only the race

A 3:30 a.m. marathon start changes the entire evening before it. The useful plan works backwards from the assigned assembly time:

  1. Reach the correct side of the course before the chosen road closes.
  2. Add the walk from the hotel, parking area or drop-off point.
  3. Add the baggage queue within the published window.
  4. Add toilet time and the runner's normal warm-up.
  5. Agree a meeting point that does not depend on live messaging.

The organizer's 75 to 90-minute recommendation is a minimum travel buffer, not a universal departure time. A runner staying across the route or arriving from Jomtien may need more. A runner staying within an easy, verified walk may need less vehicle time but should still account for crowds and blocked crossings.

Do not make a first visit to the start area in darkness. Walk the final approach on Friday or Saturday afternoon, note the landmark at the correct entrance, and save a screenshot. Terminal 21 is a large visual reference, but the race hub occupies a specific side of the complex near Dolphin Roundabout.

Pattaya Marathon route and course conditions

The marathon and half marathon combine beachfront roads with rolling urban sections. The official description takes runners from Pattaya toward Thappraya, Jomtien Second Road, Sukhumvit Road, the Central Pattaya underpass area and back along Jomtien and Pattaya beachfronts. The 10K uses Pattaya Beach Road and Pattaya Second Road before returning to the same event hub.

The organizer explicitly tells runners to prepare for heat, wind and rolling terrain. A coastal label does not mean a flat, shaded course. Use the official course map supplied for the entered distance and follow marshals where a temporary control differs from a saved route.

Do not start an untrained distance because the shorter event is sold out or a friend's place becomes available. The entry deadline has passed and the organizer prohibits transfers. The safe decision is to spectate, support the registered runner and choose a properly entered event later.

Rain and heat decisions on race morning

September is part of Pattaya's wet season. Check the Thai Meteorological Department Chonburi page before leaving, then use the organizer's race-day instruction as the authority on whether the event changes.

Light rain, a thunderstorm warning and a cancellation are three different conditions. Do not infer one from another. Pack a dry layer for before and after the race, protect the phone and confirmation documents, and use shoes and nutrition already tested in training.

If lightning, flooding or another hazard develops, follow event staff and local authorities rather than an old screenshot. Do not enter floodwater on foot or in a vehicle. The organizer's rules reserve decisions for circumstances outside its control, so a social post from another runner is not confirmation of a cancellation or refund.

For urgent tourist assistance, Thailand's Tourist Police publishes hotline 1155. Its official site also lists emergency medical number 1669. Race staff and on-course medical teams remain the first contact for an incident inside the event area.

Where Pattaya Marathon spectators should wait

Spectators should choose one useful job rather than trying to follow a runner around the entire course.

Spectator goalBetter planMain constraint
See the startArrive at Terminal 21 before closures affect the approachDense crowds and a very early arrival
See a runner on coursePick one side of Beach Road or Jomtien and remain thereCrossing the course may be restricted
Meet after the finishUse a named landmark away from the finish funnelMessages and map pins can be delayed in crowds
Support a marathonerCarry dry clothes, food agreed in advance and a charged phoneDo not hand over an untested item during the race

Agree a primary and backup meeting point. Save both offline and describe them using a fixed landmark, not "near the mall." If the runner misses the first point, wait for the agreed interval before moving. Two people walking toward each other through a crowd are harder to reunite than two people following a fixed plan.

Spectators should not step onto the course for a photograph or handoff. Stay behind barriers, keep children close and leave the finish funnel clear for runners and medical teams.

Apps and files to set up before race day

Set up each tool before race morning:

  • Official Pattaya Marathon website: schedule, course, collection and rule checks.
  • Thai Meteorological Department: current Chonburi observations and forecast.
  • Pattaya City live cameras: a visual check on selected roads, without treating a camera as permission to enter a closure.
  • Pattaya Connect and Contact Center 1337: city information and reports.
  • Thailand Tourist Police: official assistance route and location sharing when needed.
  • A ride-hailing app already verified on your phone: pickup coordination outside closures. Supply can still be limited.
  • Offline maps: the start, hotel, two meeting points, parking fallback and route around the course.

Save the runner confirmation, hotel address in Thai and English, passport copy where appropriate, emergency contact, return ticket and meeting plan offline. A power bank can help, but it does not replace a plan that still works when live tracking or messaging is slow.

Mobile data for Pattaya Marathon weekend

Mobile data is useful for a changed pickup point, weather check, city notice or message after the finish. It does not guarantee service in a dense crowd, update a road closure instantly or replace the organizer's instruction.

The public OpenSim catalog returned 34 Thailand plans when checked on September 25. Fixed-data examples included 1 GB for 7 days at USD 1.40, 3 GB for 15 days at USD 3.40, 5 GB for 30 days at USD 5.40 and 10 GB for 30 days at USD 9.40. Those examples listed dtac and TrueMove H, a 3G/4G/5G speed label and top-up support. Inventory, prices and package fields can change, so inspect the selected plan at checkout.

OpenSim's practical advantage for this weekend is that a traveler can choose the allowance and validity before heading into the midnight closure, while keeping the usual SIM in the phone for messages tied to the home number. A local physical SIM may be a better fit when a Thai phone number or local voice service is essential. Check whether the phone is unlocked and supports eSIM before buying either option.

Start with the current OpenSim Thailand plans. Keep best eSIM for Thailand and purchase-ready comparisons with that product page rather than this event guide. Use the travel data calculator for allowance planning, check phone compatibility, and read when to install an eSIM before travel before departure.

For entry administration, the Thailand THIM and TDAC guide explains the official app and arrival-card roles. The Thailand visa-exemption guide owns the separate stay-length question.

Ten Pattaya Marathon questions travelers are asking

1. What time does Pattaya Marathon 2026 start?

The 10K starts at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, followed by the 4.5K wheelchair race at 6:25 a.m. and family run at 6:30 a.m. The marathon starts at 3:30 a.m. Sunday and the half marathon at 5:10 a.m.

2. When do Pattaya Marathon road closures begin?

The official timetable says midnight on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday roads are scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m.; Sunday roads at 11 a.m. Police directions and phased reopening control actual access.

3. Can I collect a 10K bib on Saturday morning?

No Saturday collection window is listed for the 10K or 4.5K races. Their final published collection period ended at 10 p.m. Friday.

4. Can marathon and half-marathon runners collect on Saturday?

Yes. The final listed window is noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Terminal 21 Pattaya, only for the marathon and half marathon.

5. Can I buy or borrow another runner's bib?

No. The organizer prohibits selling or transferring bibs. Do not use an entry carrying someone else's identity and emergency details.

6. Where do the races start and finish?

At the Terminal 21 Pattaya event area in North Pattaya, near Dolphin Roundabout and Pattaya Second Road.

7. Where can I park for Pattaya Marathon?

The organizer lists Terminal 21, Central Marina, Lotus North Pattaya and Pattaya City Hall. Space and the usable entrance are not guaranteed, so arrive early and keep a fallback outside the course.

8. Is the Pattaya Marathon route flat?

No. The organizer describes heat, wind and rolling road conditions. Marathon and half-marathon routes include Thappraya, Jomtien and Sukhumvit sections as well as beachfront roads.

9. Can I get a taxi from my hotel during the race?

A driver may be available but unable to reach the hotel entrance. Confirm a pickup point outside the closure and walk the route beforehand.

10. What should I save offline before the race?

Save the confirmation slip, official schedule, course map, hotel address, meeting points, emergency contacts, weather source and return plan. Keep them accessible without a login or live connection.

Evidence and maintenance for this race guide

The official Pattaya Marathon website supplied the dates, starts, cutoffs, road windows, baggage times, collection schedule, course roads, parking list, transfer prohibition and organizer travel buffer. Pattaya Mail supplied the current registered field and country count from the city's final preparations. Pattaya City supplied its live-camera, Contact Center and Pattaya Connect references. Weather and emergency links point to the Thai Meteorological Department and Tourist Police.

Public forum discussions were used to identify recurring questions about missed registration, airport transfers, hotel access, road closures, ride-hailing and running preparation. They were not used to establish event rules or transport facts.

Update policy: OpenSim will update this page for a material organizer change to the 2026 schedule, road controls, collection, venue or event status. After the event, the page will retain the verified 2026 record and will not silently reuse these times for another year.
