Porter starts five new Toronto sun routes for winter 2026
Porter Airlines has started the first of five new winter routes from Toronto Pearson. The inaugural Toronto-Oranjestad flight operated on October 30, 2026. Providenciales, Los Cabos, Montego Bay and San José are scheduled to follow by December 2.
Three of those upcoming routes are still marked subject to government approval on Porter's current sun-destinations page. That caveat applies to Providenciales, Montego Bay and San José, so travelers should confirm that their exact flight is operating before making separate non-refundable bookings.

The practical answer: All five routes use Toronto Pearson, code YYZ, not Billy Bishop. Check the route's approval and operating status, add the bags and seats you need to the fare, and arrive early enough to meet Porter's 90-minute international bag-drop deadline at Pearson.
Five route starts from Toronto Pearson
Porter's October 30 announcement confirms the Aruba launch and gives the start date and peak frequency for each new route.
| Route | Start date | Announced peak frequency | Current status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Oranjestad (AUA) | October 30, 2026 | Six times weekly | Inaugural flight completed |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Providenciales (PLS) | November 6, 2026 | Five times weekly | Subject to government approval |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Los Cabos (SJD) | November 16, 2026 | Three times weekly | Scheduled |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Montego Bay (MBJ) | November 23, 2026 | Six times weekly | Subject to government approval |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to San José (SJO) | December 2, 2026 | Four times weekly | Subject to government approval |
Peak frequency is not a promise that every week has the same number of flights. Search the exact travel dates on Porter, then check the airport codes, local arrival date and any separate hotel or connecting booking before paying.
These flights leave from Pearson, not Billy Bishop
Porter serves Toronto from both Pearson and Billy Bishop, but these five routes depart from Pearson. A booking that shows YYZ is not leaving from the downtown airport, code YTZ.
This distinction matters for airport transport and connections. Travelers reaching Toronto on a separate ticket should confirm the arrival airport rather than assuming every Porter flight uses the same one. An airport change between YTZ and YYZ requires a ground transfer and is not a normal airside connection.
Porter currently tells international passengers at Pearson to complete check-in and drop checked baggage at least 90 minutes before departure. Its tariff recommends arriving three hours early. Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure, but some document checks still require an airport agent.
The E195-E2 has no middle seats and free Wi-Fi
Porter says the five routes use its 132-seat Embraer E195-E2. The cabin has two seats on each side of the aisle, so there is no middle seat. The airline also includes snacks, beer and wine, while fresh meals depend on the fare and flight.
Every E195-E2 has Viasat Wi-Fi and an outlet at each seat. A traveler can watch an advertisement for 30 minutes of access at a time, or sign in to a free VIPorter account for an uninterrupted session. Video calls and audio calls are not allowed, and service remains subject to the satellite coverage area and onboard availability.
Aircraft substitutions are possible. Check the aircraft shown on the current itinerary if Wi-Fi, seat layout or another aircraft-specific feature is important.
Price the fare after adding bags
PorterClassic Basic includes one personal item but not a standard carry-on. Porter's other current fare families include a personal item and a standard carry-on up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm. The personal-item limit is 33 x 43 x 16 cm.
Checked baggage depends on the fare and VIPorter status. The standard maximum is 23 kg and 158 cm in combined dimensions. Porter's optional-fee page also warns of route-specific limits and prices, including a separate second-bag range for Montego Bay because of aircraft payload restrictions.
Open the baggage field for the exact itinerary and compare the complete trip price. A low headline fare can stop being the best choice after adding a carry-on, checked bag, seat and change flexibility.
Treat connections and entry checks separately
Search the complete journey together when possible. A single ticket can make baggage and disruption handling clearer, but travelers should still read the operating carrier, transfer airport and baggage receipt. Separate tickets may require collecting and rechecking bags, and a delay on the first booking may not protect the second.
Entry requirements differ among Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica. Check the destination's official rules for the passport used, as well as any transit country. Canada's travel-advice pages can point Canadian travelers to current entry and safety information, but the destination authority makes the admission decision.
Mobile data for four of Porter's new destinations
OpenSim currently lists destination plans for Turks and Caicos, Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica. It does not currently list a destination plan for Aruba, so this article does not claim OpenSim Aruba coverage.
Compare the live allowance, validity, network, hotspot field and top-up field on the exact package. Install the eSIM on an unlocked compatible phone before departure while reliable Wi-Fi is available. Keep the usual SIM accessible if the airline, a bank or accommodation sends a verification text to the existing number.
An eSIM supplies mobile data on supported ground networks after arrival. It does not provide Porter's inflight Wi-Fi, extend an app's local service area or protect a missed connection.
Ten questions about Porter's new Toronto sun flights
Has Porter's Toronto-Aruba flight started?
Yes. Porter says it inaugurated the Toronto Pearson-Oranjestad route on October 30, 2026. Check the exact date because the announced peak of six weekly flights does not mean daily service all season.
When do the other four routes begin?
Providenciales is scheduled for November 6, Los Cabos for November 16, Montego Bay for November 23 and San José for December 2, 2026.
Which routes are still subject to government approval?
Porter's current sun-destinations page marks Providenciales, Montego Bay and San José as subject to government approval. Recheck the booking and flight status before committing to separate non-refundable arrangements.
Do the flights leave from Toronto Pearson or Billy Bishop?
They leave from Toronto Pearson, code YYZ. Billy Bishop uses code YTZ and is a different airport.
Is Wi-Fi free on these Porter flights?
Porter says every E195-E2 has free Wi-Fi. Non-members can watch an advertisement for 30-minute sessions, while VIPorter members can sign in for uninterrupted access. Availability still depends on the operating aircraft and coverage.
What can I bring with a Porter Basic ticket?
No standard carry-on is included with the current Basic fare. It includes one personal item. Porter sells upgrade options, so compare the final price with the bag you need.
How do I check my suitcase allowance?
It depends on the fare and status. Porter's normal size and weight ceiling is 158 cm and 23 kg per bag, but the number of included bags and any fee appear in the itinerary.
How early should I arrive at Pearson?
Porter's current international tariff recommends arriving three hours before departure from Pearson. Check-in and bag drop close 90 minutes before departure, and the gate closes 10 minutes before departure.
Will a checked bag transfer on a connection?
That depends on the ticket, airlines and airports. Confirm the final destination printed on the baggage receipt. A separate booking may require collection and recheck even when both flights use Porter or a partner.
Does one OpenSim plan cover all five destinations?
Do not assume it does. OpenSim currently has destination pages for Turks and Caicos, Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica, but no Aruba destination record. Check the live country list on any regional package before purchase.
Before booking a new Porter sun route
- Confirm that the booking shows Toronto Pearson, YYZ.

- Compare the exact date, not only the peak weekly frequency.
- Add carry-on, checked baggage, seat and flexibility costs.
- Check the operating aircraft if Wi-Fi or seat layout matters.
- Allow extra time for a separate-ticket or airport-change connection.
- Read current passport, transit and destination entry rules.
- Recheck the itinerary before paying for a hotel or transfer.
