Abu Dhabi free visa for Indians: who qualifies in 2026

Abu Dhabi is covering the UAE entry-visa fee for some Indian passport holders who book a qualifying holiday through a participating travel company. This is not visa-free entry for every Indian traveler. It is a limited 2026 subsidy attached to a package with at least three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel and a return flight from India.
The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi programme runs from August 1 to October 31, 2026 and initially supports up to 20,000 visas. The department covers or reimburses AED 285 per eligible visa. A booking does not guarantee immigration approval, and an independent flight or hotel reservation does not automatically qualify.
The traveler decision: ask the travel partner to confirm in writing that the exact package is enrolled, the visa fee is included, every traveler qualifies, and both booking and travel finish within the offer window. Do not pay on the strength of a headline that says Abu Dhabi is visa-free for Indians.

What the free-visa headline leaves out
The benefit pays an eligible visa charge. It does not make the flight, hotel, transfers, insurance or attractions free. It also does not remove the application or approval process.
The DCT Abu Dhabi press release distributed by Zawya describes two arrangements for travel partners. A partner can use a DCT-appointed destination management company, or use its existing company and receive an AED 285 reimbursement after an eligible visa is issued. That back-office choice should not become an extra visa fee for the traveler, but service or package charges may still exist. Ask for the complete price before paying.
The offer is not a standalone coupon. The travel company must connect the visa to an eligible Abu Dhabi holiday. A traveler who books a cheap flight and a separate hotel cannot later submit receipts to DCT for AED 285.
Eligibility checklist before you book
Use all of these checks. Meeting only one or two is not enough.
- Every person using the offer holds an Indian passport.
- The journey departs from India and includes the required return flight.
- The booking is made through a travel partner currently participating in the DCT programme.
- The package includes at least three consecutive hotel nights in Abu Dhabi.
- The partner confirms that the exact package, dates and travelers are inside the remaining pilot allocation.
- The trip takes place by October 31, 2026 under the partner's written deadline.
- Each passport meets the UAE validity and document rules supplied by the partner and operating airline.
- The partner confirms what happens if immigration declines or delays the visa.
The official Experience Abu Dhabi visa page tells travelers to check nationality-specific requirements on the UAE government portal. The UAE tourist-visa page says tourist visas are arranged through airlines, hotels and travel agents for people who do not qualify for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival.
Which travel partners are named?
Khaleej Times named the following 11 participants on August 11. A name on this list does not mean every package sold by that company qualifies.

Ask these questions before paying
A useful confirmation should identify the booking, not repeat the promotion's name. Ask the partner:
- Is this exact package eligible for the DCT Abu Dhabi visa subsidy?
- Is AED 285 removed from the price, reimbursed later or included in the package total?
- Are there separate processing, document, delivery or service charges?
- Must the return flight land in the same Indian city from which the trip departed?
- Does travel have to finish by October 31, or only begin by then?
- How many days and entries does the issued visa permit?
- What happens to the hotel and flight booking if the visa is refused or arrives late?
- Does each child receive a separate visa and use a separate programme allocation?
Save the reply. A call-center promise is hard to prove after a non-refundable booking has been charged.
Some Indian travelers may already have another entry route
The subsidy is not always the cheapest or simplest option. Some Indian passport holders with qualifying foreign visas or residence permits can obtain a UAE visa on arrival under separate rules.
Emirates' current UAE visa guidance for Indian nationals lists a single-entry 14-day permit for eligible normal-passport holders with specified visas or residence permits from the United States, United Kingdom, EU countries, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea or Singapore. The supporting document and passport must meet the stated validity rules, and a fee applies.
That is a different entry route with a shorter stay. Do not assume the DCT package offer is better until you compare the complete package price, visa duration, cancellation terms and your existing eligibility. Confirm with the operating airline and the UAE government visa checker before departure.
Families and mixed passports need separate checks
A family booking does not give every traveler the same visa status. An Indian parent, a child with a United States passport and a relative with a residence permit can each follow a different rule.
The DCT programme is described for Indian passport holders. Ask the partner whether every Indian child receives a separate subsidized application and whether the pilot allocation is counted per person. For a child holding another nationality, use that passport's current UAE rule rather than forcing the child into the Indian offer.
Carry each child's passport, issued visa or visa-on-arrival evidence, return booking and any consent document required by the family's circumstances.
Can you add Dubai to the trip?
The issued document is a UAE entry visa, but the subsidy exists to support an Abu Dhabi holiday. The qualifying package must contain at least three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel.
A longer itinerary can include another emirate if the travel partner accepts the structure and the visa dates cover it. Do not split the required three nights between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Ask the partner to approve the final hotel sequence before payment.

If the visa is delayed, refused or the trip changes
The subsidy removes a fee from an eligible application. It does not transfer the financial risk of the whole package to DCT.
Read the flight and hotel cancellation terms before the partner submits the visa. Ask whether the package can be changed if the visa remains pending close to departure. If a traveler is refused, obtain the decision or status in writing and ask the partner which charges are refundable. Do not assume that a free visa makes the flight or hotel refundable.
If travel moves beyond October 31, the promotion may no longer apply. Get a revised price and visa plan before accepting the date change. The partner should also confirm whether an already issued visa remains valid for the new arrival date.
