Air Arabia-led Dammam flights are operating: route guide

A new Saudi low-cost carrier led by an Air Arabia consortium began flying from Dammam on September 20, 2026. Its first flight left King Fahd International Airport for Riyadh, and the carrier now serves Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah.

This is a new, majority Saudi-owned operator, not simply another route from Air Arabia's existing UAE airline. The carrier had not published a separate public name when this guide was reviewed. Air Arabia's launch notice says direct flights can now be booked through its website, call centre and travel agencies.

The practical answer: The carrier says it now operates two flights a day from Dammam to Riyadh, two a day to Jeddah and one a day to Madinah. Its September 21 launch release does not list flight numbers or times. Search the exact date, confirm the airport codes and use the issued itinerary as the controlling record.

The three Dammam routes at a glance

Air Arabia's September 21 launch confirmation says the carrier began operations on September 20 with an inaugural Dammam to Riyadh flight. It also states that the carrier currently operates the three published routes at the frequencies shown above. The release does not provide a timetable, flight numbers or an end date.

GACA granted the consortium an Air Operator Certificate on September 14. The certificate enabled the carrier to begin operations, but it does not guarantee that every future flight will operate unchanged. Recheck the reservation before arranging a fixed transfer or a separate connection.

Know which airline you are booking

The operator is a new Saudi carrier created by a consortium of Air Arabia Group, Nesma Group and KUN Holding Company. GACA and Air Arabia describe it as majority Saudi-owned and based at King Fahd International Airport. Air Arabia still referred to it as the new national carrier, rather than giving it a separate public brand, in the September 21 launch release.

That distinction matters when searching. A result branded around Air Arabia does not automatically mean the flight is operated by the Sharjah-based UAE airline. Read the operating-carrier line, flight number and conditions on the final booking screen and e-ticket. If the public brand changes after launch, the issued booking is more useful than an older article headline.

The launch announcement refers to Air Arabia's Airbus A320 fleet, SkyTime streaming, SkyCafe menu and AirRewards. It does not assign a specific registration or promise the same aircraft on every service. Treat the aircraft shown in the booking or near departure as the current plan.

Book by airport code, not city name alone

Use DMM for King Fahd International Airport, RUH for Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, JED for King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and MED for Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.

The announcement describes all three as direct domestic services. A nonstop itinerary should show DMM and the destination code without an intermediate airport. Check both directions separately because a stated frequency from Dammam does not prove that the return time suits the same-day plan.

The public launch release does not show how the two daily Riyadh and Jeddah flights are spaced. It also does not give the Madinah departure time. Do not build an airport transfer, appointment or separate ticket around a time copied from an aggregator unless the same flight appears in the Air Arabia booking and the issued itinerary.

Check the fare and baggage together

Air Arabia's general baggage page allows customers to select checked baggage while booking or modifying a flight. It currently lists 20kg, 30kg and 40kg choices, subject to the number of pieces allowed. That does not mean every launch fare includes a checked bag.

Compare the final amount after adding the baggage, seat and flexibility you need. Save the fare conditions with the booking. The new Saudi operation may present route-specific terms, so the allowance printed on the confirmation takes priority over a general Air Arabia page or another passenger's ticket.

If two travelers book separately, do not assume their baggage allowances can be pooled. Large, sporting or special items may follow different acceptance rules. Confirm them with the carrier before paying for transport to the airport.

Plan Dammam check-in conservatively

King Fahd International Airport's official passenger guide says travelers can check in at their airline's desk in the departures hall. It also tells passengers to check flight status and contact the airline before heading to the airport.

Air Arabia's general online check-in page opens check-in 48 hours before departure, but it warns that some airports and new destinations may not yet support the service. If DMM does not appear, use the airport counter rather than assuming the booking is invalid.

Air Arabia currently says airport counters normally open three hours before departure and close one hour before departure for economy passengers. The ticket can set a different deadline. For these first services, arrive with time to find the correct desk, resolve any document check and drop baggage before the deadline on the reservation.

Protect separate connections

These Dammam flights can create new domestic links, but the announcement does not promise through connections to another airline. Air Arabia's conditions of carriage say separate bookings are separate contracts, and the airline does not accept liability for a missed onward flight on another reservation.

If connecting at RUH, JED or MED, check whether both flights share one booking reference and whether baggage is checked through. On separate tickets, allow time to collect luggage, move through the airport, check in again and pass security. An overnight stop may be safer than a tight self-transfer during the launch period.

The same principle applies in Dammam. A late inbound journey can affect a separately booked international flight even when both services use DMM. Travel insurance does not automatically cover every self-connection, so read its missed-departure conditions before relying on it.
