Alba White Truffle Fair 2026: tickets, tastings and trains
Alba's White Truffle Fair runs from October 10 to December 6, 2026, with its main market open on Saturdays and Sundays. For a first visit, choose a weekend, decide whether you want to browse or book a tasting, and arrange your return journey before buying extra experiences.
There are two useful details to check this year: an online market ticket includes the MUDET truffle museum, while an on-site ticket does not; and rail work affects the Turin-Alba route through October 18. Those differences matter more to a short trip than a long list of festival events.
The official market calendar lists opening hours of 09:30 to 19:30. The market is in Cortile della Maddalena, with entry from Piazza Falcone. A fair running for nine weeks does not mean the market opens every weekday.

Which Alba fair ticket should you buy?
The organizer's 2026 ticket information separates these choices:
| Ticket or experience | Published price | What to check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Online market admission | EUR6 plus booking and service fees | Includes MUDET admission; collect the museum ticket at the ticket office using your online voucher |
| Market admission bought on site | EUR6 | Does not include MUDET |
| Online cooking show or weekend Taste Workshop | Price depends on the session | Includes market and MUDET admission; avoid buying a second market ticket unnecessarily |
The organizer lists free market entry for children and young people up to age 15, and for people with disabilities and an accompanying person. TicketOne's English listing describes the child limit differently, so confirm the child's eligibility with the fair before booking if they are 15.
For adults who want both the museum and market, booking online has an inclusion advantage. It is not an identical final price once fees are added. Choose the date carefully and check any session time before completing checkout.
The MUDET museum page describes multimedia displays about truffles, hunters and their dogs, plus children's spaces and a ground-floor cafe. Its general hours differ from the fair's seasonal listing. Use the fair's current instructions for a festival-weekend visit and confirm directly before planning a separate weekday museum trip.
Does admission include a truffle meal or wine?
Budget separately for what you want to eat. A market ticket is not a prepaid restaurant meal or a promise of unlimited fresh white truffle tastings.
The local market listing describes a separate wine coupon: EUR10 online plus fees, or EUR11 on site. It includes two glasses at the Grande Enoteca, producer-stand wine tastings, a glass and its holder. That is a wine product, not a truffle-food voucher.
Set your food budget before arriving. At a restaurant or stall, ask whether fresh truffle is included in the dish price, charged by weight or sold as a separate supplement. Ask for the total before agreeing to a shaving or portion. This keeps a modest entrance ticket from becoming a meal bill you had not planned for.
You do not need to buy a whole truffle to enjoy the visit. The national tourism listing also describes regional cheeses, cured meats, sweets and wines. Choose one experience you care about rather than treating every paid session as necessary.
Is the fair worth a day trip from Turin?
It suits a traveler interested in food producers, truffles and a booked meal or tasting. Someone expecting a street-food festival where a small entrance fee covers everything should reset that expectation before traveling.
A Turin day trip keeps the accommodation decision simple if most of your holiday is in the city. Staying in Alba makes more sense when you want a relaxed dinner, several fair activities or a countryside experience on another day. Staying outside Alba can suit a vineyard-focused trip, but check the actual travel arrangements to the market instead of choosing a hotel only for its distance on a map.
For a first visit, a workable day is:
- Arrive with enough time to find the Piazza Falcone entrance without rushing.
- Browse the market and ask questions before making a purchase.
- Leave a proper lunch break, with a restaurant reservation if a specific meal matters to you.
- Visit MUDET or attend one prebooked session in the afternoon.
- Return to the station with a buffer before your chosen train.
This is a suggested pace, not the festival's timetable. Do not squeeze a remote truffle hunt into the same day until its meeting point, transport and finish time are confirmed.
How to get from Turin to Alba during the fair
The SFM rail information identifies line SFM4 as the Ceres-Cirie-Airport-Turin-Bra-Alba service. Search your actual starting station and travel date in Trenitalia rather than assuming every Turin station has the same direct departure.
The first two fair weekends fall within a timetable-change period. RFI's current notice says maintenance between Carmagnola and Bra changes SFM4 departure and arrival times from August 31 through October 18. It states that Trenitalia's sales channels reflect the changes.
Use the Trenitalia website or app for the outward journey and a realistic return. Save both details, then check again before leaving. Avoid copying a train time from a guide written before the works.
If you drive, start with the city map linked from the fair's visitor information. Pick a parking option and a backup before setting off, then follow current signs and local restrictions. A marked parking area is not a reservation or a guarantee of a vacant space. Ask your accommodation about its own parking arrangements if staying overnight.
A truffle hunt is a separate booking
Market admission does not organize a countryside hunt. The regional tourism board even labels one of its experiences a simulated truffle hunt. That can be an educational outing, but it is a different promise from joining a working hunter in search of that day's harvest.
Before booking, ask:
- Is this a demonstration or a working hunt, and which language is used?
- Where exactly do we meet, and is a transfer included?
- What terrain, footwear and walking duration should we expect?
- Are food or truffles included, and who keeps anything found?
- What happens in bad weather or if no truffle is found?
Book the experience whose answers fit your group. A train ticket to Alba does not solve the final journey to a meeting point in the hills. If you book wine tastings too, arrange a driver or another suitable return rather than leaving that decision until afterwards.
Visiting with children or accessibility needs
The 2026 Alba Truffle Kids programme moves into Cortile della Maddalena. It lists weekend sessions through November 22, with entry times at 11:00, 13:30, 15:30 and 17:30. The family package covers two accompanying adults and four children, and includes market entry. The page displays EUR5; check the selected ticket and any fees at checkout.
The activity emphasizes hands-on play with wood and natural materials rather than inflatables or screens. Do not assume it continues until December 6 just because the market does. Check suitability and session arrangements for your child's age before booking.
Free disability admission does not establish that every activity, museum room or countryside route is accessible. Contact the organizer about step-free entry, seating, toilets and any companion requirements relevant to your visit. For a hunt, ask the operator about the actual surface and slopes.
Bring layers and suitable shoes, and leave room in the day for a meal and a break away from stalls. With children, our Italy with kids guide covers the broader trip without turning this festival visit into another country itinerary.
Save tickets and routes before leaving your accommodation
Keep the fair voucher, museum instructions and any booked-session confirmation available offline. Save the accommodation address and the hunt meeting point separately. A translation app can help with a menu, but confirm a price or booking condition with the person taking the order.
Mobile data is useful for checking rail updates, contacting a host or sharing your location with your group. OpenSim's Italy plans include fixed allowances: on October 4, the public catalog listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.14 and 10GB for 30 days at USD8.56, with top-up support for those plans. Check the current selector and final checkout total before buying.
For a visitor whose home plan charges extra in Italy, a separately priced allowance gives a defined data purchase to compare with that roaming charge. If Italy is already included in your home plan and its allowance meets your needs, keeping it may be simpler. OpenSim does not remove train disruption, guarantee a signal in countryside woods or replace downloaded tickets.
Use the travel data calculator for your usage estimate. Check phone compatibility and when to install your eSIM before departure.
Sources and updates
Ticket inclusions, prices and programme details were checked against the fair organizer on October 4, 2026; transport changes against RFI and SFM; museum facilities against the City of Alba's cultural website. Fees, session availability and live train services can change. Recheck ticket inclusions before buying and rail notices before traveling. This guide will be reviewed for material programme or transport changes, and after the fair closes on December 6; a later edition's dates will not be assumed.
