Signal Festival Prague 2026: tickets, free art and evening routes

Prague's Signal Festival runs October 15-18, 2026, with its main evening programme from 19:00 to midnight. You do not need a ticket for the 13 free installations. Signal INSIDE covers eight paid installations, with a one-day ticket currently listed at CZK440 and a four-day ticket at CZK540.

This year's choice is not just paid versus free. The programme has a new Dejvice route alongside the city-centre route, and the organizer's September 30 announcement adds student light projects around Technicka Street. Choose an area before choosing how many installations to see. Crossing Prague and joining several queues can consume an evening quickly.

All times below are local Prague time. Prices and programme details were checked October 5, 2026.

Which Signal Festival ticket should you buy?

The official ticket page lists the following current sales tier. These are general-admission prices, not the lower student, senior or child prices shown beside them. Recheck the selected ticket and final checkout total before paying.

OptionListed priceWhat it coversBest reason to choose it
Free programmeNo festival admission chargePublic installations outside Signal INSIDEA short art walk without committing to indoor queues
One-day INSIDECZK440Eight paid installations for one eveningYou are in Prague for only one festival night
Four-day INSIDECZK540Paid programme across all four evenings, with repeat entryYou can split the two routes over different nights
Signal UNIVERSECZK840Four-day paid programme plus Signal Space gallery entry valid for six monthsYou also intend to visit the separate gallery
VIPCZK1,690Paid programme, early access to selected locations and priority entry, with additional benefitsThose specific access benefits justify the higher cost for your trip

Four-day INSIDE costs CZK100 more than one-day INSIDE. For a two-night visit, that difference buys room to spread your stops rather than trying to fit both routes into a single night. If your flight leaves the next morning, the extra days have little value.

An ordinary INSIDE ticket does not promise immediate entry or reserve a performance slot. VIP's priority access is a different benefit, not something to assume comes with the four-day pass. UNIVERSE includes the gallery, not all VIP benefits.

The organizer sells tickets through GoOut. Reach the seller from the official page rather than an unsolicited resale message. Separate afterparties and workshops have their own listings; do not assume they are included in INSIDE.

What is new on the Dejvice route?

The 2026 programme announcement places part of the festival in Dejvice, away from the familiar Old Town setting. It is worth choosing this route deliberately rather than treating it as a quick detour from the centre.

On Technicka Street, the September 30 Student Visions announcement describes four projects involving students from Prague's technical and chemistry universities. They include a projection connected with the EFORCE formula-racing team and Face It, which turns facial expressions into portraits. The area also has a food-and-drink zone.

That gives older children and visitors interested in engineering something more specific to look for than another illuminated facade. Check individual programme entries for demonstrations and running times; a listed student project does not mean a chemistry show runs continuously all evening.

Four installations to build an evening around

Start with a short list, then use the official programme and map to add nearby works. Its filters separate Dejvice, the centre and Signal INSIDE. The map also marks suggested direction, underpasses and catering.

InstallationArea and venueAdmissionTiming or practical detail
Missing Interval, Felix FrankDejvice, Archbishop Seminary, ThakurovaFreeAn eight-minute projection; listed within the 19:00-midnight programme
Scattered Light, Jim CampbellDejvice, General Lazaro Cardenas ParkFreeContinuous installation during the listed evening hours
Water, Laterna magikaBubenec, Old Wastewater Treatment PlantINSIDETen-minute performance, three times an hour
Living in Truth, Svitlana ReinishCentre, Old Town Hall towerFreeA 2026 facade projection; check the current map before joining the viewing area

The Missing Interval listing confirms an eight-minute screening and marks the venue as barrier-free. Its light effects are unsuitable for visitors with epilepsy. The organizer's videomapping announcement confirms both this projection and Living in Truth are free. The festival opening is scheduled at the seminary on October 15 at 19:00.

Scattered Light is a different kind of stop: figures appear through a field of lights rather than a timed facade show. Its listing also marks barrier-free access. That is a venue-specific detail, not proof that every pavement, transfer and festival interior is step-free.

For Water, budget for admission and waiting as well as the ten-minute performance. Three performances an hour does not mean you can enter at any moment. The venue is at Papirenska 199/6, and its listing flags effects unsuitable for visitors with epilepsy.

A realistic plan for one night or two

These are suggested ways to use the programme, not official timed tours. Keep your route flexible if a queue or crowd blocks your next stop.

One free evening: choose Dejvice or the centre

Dejvice: use Dejvicka as your transport anchor. Pick Missing Interval, the student projects around Technicka Street and one or two nearby installations from the map. Eat before the busiest part of the evening or use the listed food zone. Add Scattered Light only if the walk and your remaining time suit the group.

Centre: use Staromestska as your transport anchor and start with the Old Town Hall projection. Choose nearby works from the centre filter rather than following every marker. Put a warm indoor break into your plan, especially if you are visiting with children.

Do not combine both suggestions into a checklist for one night. Seeing fewer works without rushing is a reasonable way to experience the festival.

Two evenings: split the routes with four-day INSIDE

Spend one evening around Dejvice and Bubenec, using Water as an anchor if that performance interests you. Spend the other in the centre, choosing a small number of paid interiors alongside the free projections.

The organizer's INSIDE venue guide helps distinguish them: MIMIC.2 uses the Faculty of Law entrance hall; MUCHA Studio's work at Masaryk Dormitory includes camera-based participation; To the Moon is at Theatre X10. These are different experiences, not interchangeable stops to collect.

Choose the works you want first. Then compare their locations and your available evenings before buying a pass. Do not count on seeing all eight paid works, plus the free programme, in one night.

Getting there and getting home after midnight

PID Litacka is the useful transport app for this visit. It supports Czech and English, journey planning, tickets, disruption information and accessible-route options. Registration is optional. Check the ticket's validity in the app before boarding; buying a ticket and having a valid ticket are not necessarily the same moment.

Plan the return journey before starting the route. The Prague transport operator describes normal metro operation as approximately 05:00 to midnight. A festival ending at midnight is therefore not a promise that the metro will still take you home afterward. Use the planner for the actual departure time and, after midnight, the next calendar date.

For an airport arrival, DPP lists line 59 between the airport and Nadrazi Veleslavin, connecting with metro A. Its published journey time is 17 minutes for that surface leg, not your complete airport-to-hotel journey. The Airport Express uses a different fare arrangement from regular PID services. Check current timetables and your route rather than choosing by the word "airport" alone.

Save your accommodation address and the nearest usable night stop. A shorter final art stop near your return route is often more useful than squeezing in one distant installation.

Children, access needs and intense light effects

The festival FAQ warns that INSIDE is not suitable for visiting with prams. Evening crowds, sound and flashing light also matter when choosing works. Free outdoor admission is not evidence that an installation suits a toddler or someone with sensory sensitivities.

One explicit restriction is FLUX at Savarin Riding Hall: ages 12 and over, with darkness and intense flashes described in the INSIDE venue guide. Read the individual work's warnings before joining its queue. Do not substitute a general festival age label for that check.

For a family visit, choose one area, agree on a meeting point and leave before tiredness makes the trip home difficult. Keep daytime plans light if you intend to stay out late. For wider trip planning, use our Czech Republic with kids guide.

Save the ticket and map before leaving Wi-Fi

According to the festival FAQ, your INSIDE QR code can be presented on a phone or as a printed ticket; admission uses a wristband. Save the code somewhere you can open offline, and keep the wristband on during its validity. A dead battery or a missing email is avoidable; mobile data cannot repair an organizer's scanner.

The organizer directs visitors to its mobile-friendly website rather than a dedicated festival app. Save the map, selected venue addresses and return route while on Wi-Fi. Keep enough battery for both admission and the trip home. If the weather deteriorates, recheck official updates before walking to your next stop.

When OpenSim is useful for this Prague trip

Mobile data is useful for checking a changed route, opening the current festival map and messaging a separated companion between Wi-Fi stops. If your home plan already includes suitable Czech roaming, using it may be simpler and cost nothing extra. Offline tickets and saved maps remain useful whichever connection you choose.

For travelers without an included allowance, the OpenSim Czechia plans checked October 5 included 1GB for seven days at USD1.14 and 3GB for 15 days at USD3, with top-up support listed for those plans. These are whole-plan prices, not daily prices. The smaller plan can suit a short visit focused on maps and messages; video uploads use more data.

That is a practical advantage over relying only on finding Wi-Fi when your evening plan changes. It is not a claim that OpenSim improves venue queues, replaces an admission ticket or guarantees reception in every crowded interior. Check the current selected plan before buying.

Use the travel data calculator to estimate your allowance, check phone eSIM support, and read when to install your travel eSIM before departure.

Sources and updates

OpenSim's editorial team checked the official programme, ticket listings, installation pages and Prague transport guidance on October 5, 2026. Prices refer to the organizer's current sales tier; final availability, ticket conditions and transport changes remain with the official operators.

Recheck the festival programme and map before each evening. This guide should be updated for changed prices, venue access, programme cancellations or confirmed transport arrangements, and reviewed after October 18 rather than carried forward as next year's programme.
