Baja Beach Fest 2026 runs from Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9 on Rosarito Beach in Baja California. Doors open at 2pm each day. Set times and app links are live, but the organizer was still showing the 2025 map while marking the 2026 map as coming soon when this guide was checked on August 3.
The border is the first decision, not a footnote. A San Diego flight, a San Ysidro shuttle and a Rosarito hotel create three separate transfers. Allow time for all three. Do not rely on social posts saying a driver license is enough to cross. Document requirements depend on citizenship and travel mode, and border officers make the decision.

Check the border documents before the ticket
For U.S. citizens entering Mexico by land, the current U.S. State Department guidance says to use a valid passport book or passport card and obtain the required FMM entry permit. The Mexican immigration authority also lists a valid passport or travel document and a completed FMM for eligible visa-exempt visitors entering by land. A passport card is for land and sea travel, not international air travel.
For the return to the United States by land, U.S. Customs and Border Protection lists accepted WHTI-compliant documents, including a U.S. passport book or card and certain approved trusted-traveler or enhanced documents. The rules differ for children, permanent residents and citizens of other countries. Check the CBP document page for the return journey and the Mexican immigration requirements for entry. Carry the physical document. A phone photo is not a border document.
The current U.S. travel advisory for Mexico rates Mexico overall at Level 2 and Baja California at Level 3, "Reconsider travel," due to terrorism, crime and kidnapping. It advises travelers to remain on main highways and avoid remote places. The advisory says there are no additional U.S. government employee restrictions in Rosarito, Tijuana or Ensenada, but that does not lower the statewide advisory.
Read the advisory in full and decide whether the trip fits your risk tolerance. Use established border crossings and planned transport. Do not treat a festival shuttle, a busy tourist area or the absence of a city-specific restriction as a safety guarantee.
Choose Rosarito, Tijuana or San Diego as your base
The cheapest room is not necessarily the simplest trip. Decide how many border crossings and late-night transfers you are willing to make.

Use the full street address when comparing accommodation. Measure the route to the festival entrance or shuttle stop, not the distance to central Rosarito or Tijuana. Save the address in Spanish and offline.
How to get to Baja Beach Fest
From Tijuana International Airport
The organizer estimates a 40-minute, 35.5-kilometer drive from Tijuana International Airport to the festival. Treat that as a map estimate, not a promise during festival traffic.
Travelers using the Tijuana shuttle must first reach El Estacionamiento El Centenario beside the Quartz Hotel and Spa. Confirm whether the hotel or driver is taking you to the airport, the shuttle pickup or Rosarito. Those are different destinations.
From San Diego International Airport
The festival travel page lists a 55-minute drive and 68 kilometers from San Diego International Airport. That estimate does not account for airport collection, the border, immigration, the onward ride to Rosarito or event queues.
A public-transport route usually begins with San Diego MTS service to the Blue Line, which reaches San Ysidro. The official festival shuttle pickup is at 3020 East Beyer Boulevard in San Ysidro. It is not an airport shuttle and it is not located in central San Diego. Check the MTS Trolley and live service notices before travel.
Build the route as separate legs:
- Airport to San Diego transit or a pre-arranged transfer.
- San Diego to San Ysidro.
- Border entry and immigration formalities.
- San Ysidro shuttle or another planned transfer to Rosarito.
- Walk from the festival drop-off to the entrance and complete security.
Do not book a return flight using only the organizer's 55-minute drive estimate. The northbound border is a separate queue and can be longer than the southbound trip.
Driving and parking
The festival lists San Ysidro, Otay Mesa and Tecate as the closest ports and links to live CBP border-wait tools. Check whether the displayed wait is for vehicles or pedestrians and whether it is northbound or southbound. They are not interchangeable.
The organizer currently lists one designated festival parking lot at the event address, open 24 hours from Thursday through Monday, at $20 per day. Recheck the rate and access instructions before driving. Confirm the vehicle's documents, insurance, rental-company permission and the correct return lane separately. A parking reservation does not remove border or local traffic delays.
Baja Beach Fest shuttle times for 2026
The shuttle pass includes one round trip per day. Choose the pickup that matches where you will actually be at noon, not the airport printed on the flight booking.

The current festival shuttle page lists returns until 4am. A separate official afterparty answer has listed an earlier final return. If an afterparty is part of the plan, verify the correct final departure in the app or with shuttle staff that night. Missing the last shuttle creates a border and accommodation problem, not just a short taxi ride.
The departure windows mean you can choose a bus within the listed period. They do not guarantee an immediate seat at the exact minute you arrive. Leave room for queues, wristband questions and the walk between transport and the grounds.
Wristbands, will call and re-entry
Activate the festival wristband before approaching the gate and set up cashless payment in advance. The organizer requires a valid government-issued photo ID at entry and says a photo of the ID is not accepted. The event is for adults aged 18 and older.
Will call operates in Rosarito and Tijuana. The Tijuana location is only for shuttle-pass holders. The official guide asks visitors to bring the order confirmation, the payment card used for the purchase or a photo of it, and matching photo identification. Read the current will-call instructions yourself if the order and card names differ.
Keep these rules separate:
- The physical festival wristband controls event access.
- A shuttle wristband or pass controls shuttle access.
- Border officers require the correct travel document.
- The festival does not allow re-entry after 7:30pm.
Collecting a wristband does not solve a missing passport, and a shuttle pass does not replace a festival ticket.

A bag sold as a festival bag can still fail the dimensions or pocket rule. Compare it with the official bag policy and current allowed-item pages. If you need medication or an accessibility accommodation, contact the organizer before travel rather than relying on a general packing list.
Set times, cashless payment and the official app
Doors open at 2pm, and the organizer identifies 5pm to 7pm as the busiest entry period. Use the official set-times page to choose a realistic arrival. A screenshot from a resale post or fan account may be outdated.
The official app links are now on the festival guide. Install the correct 2026 version, sign in and check the update date. The event uses cashless wristbands, so complete setup before the gate and keep a separate payment method available for transport or businesses outside the grounds.
The 2026 map was still pending on August 3. Do not save the visible 2025 map and assume entrances, services or stages are unchanged. Download the new map when the organizer publishes it.

Leaving the festival each night
The organizer places a taxi loop on Boulevard Benito Juarez after the event. Follow the official signs and confirm the destination and fare before leaving. Do not assume an app will immediately find a driver at closing time.
Shuttle users return from the Rosarito Shores Archway, not the entrance gate. Pin it in daylight. If the group splits, agree on a time to stop waiting and move to the staffed pickup area.
Visitors returning to the United States should check live border waits before choosing the crossing. The MTS Overnight Express may be relevant on eligible nights after reaching San Ysidro, but it does not transport passengers from Rosarito or through the border. Verify its operating date and stop before depending on it.
Mobile data in Rosarito and across the border
A Mexico Roaming eSIM plan can provide data after the phone connects to a supported network in Mexico. If the same trip uses mobile data in both the United States and Mexico, compare a North America Roaming eSIM plan with the country plan and check the exact coverage list before buying.
A Mexico-only plan does not provide U.S. coverage before the border. Keep a working U.S. line, airport WiFi or another offline route for the San Diego and San Ysidro legs. The festival ID check and the international border are separate.
