Creative Craft Show Birmingham 2026: choose your day and book workshops

The Creative Craft Show and Sewing for Pleasure Winter Edition run at Birmingham's NEC from November 5 to 8, 2026. Choose Friday, Saturday or Sunday if you also want the cake shows: they do not open on Thursday. The combined admission ticket is separate from most paid workshops.
That day choice matters more than the number of shows advertised on a ticket. Decide what you want to make or see, check any session's entry conditions, then arrange travel around it. You can enjoy the stalls and demonstrations without booking a class.
The photograph is a May 2007 archive view of the NEC, not the 2026 show or an instruction to use Atrium entrance 3. Follow your current ticket and event signs.
Thursday or the weekend: what can you visit?
The organizer's November show page includes Creative Craft, the winter sewing show and Simply Christmas, with Cake International access from Friday to Sunday. The ticket seller also names Bake International within that later-running programme.
| Your priority | Choose | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Craft supplies, sewing and festive shopping | Any of the four days | Specific exhibitors and demonstrations |
| Cake and baking displays as well | November 6, 7 or 8 | Programme and separate paid sessions |
| One particular workshop | Its listed date | Start time, age, duration and admission |
| A shorter Sunday visit | November 8 | Earlier closing time |
The NEC's current event listing gives Hall 12, opening at 09:30 each day. Closing is 17:00 Thursday to Saturday and 16:30 Sunday. Do not build your route around an old Hall 20 plan or a previous year's dates.
Admission prices, discounts and the sold-out VIP option
The official ticket product displays GBP15 and says an early-bird discount is applied at checkout. Other current official listings advertise entry from GBP13. Check the final total for your selected days; do not assume the lowest advertised figure applies indefinitely or to every ticket type.
Choose the attendance dates, not just a number of days. The seller lists one-, two-, three- and four-day passes. Its terms say tickets cannot be refunded or transferred. Check dates carefully before paying, particularly if you are travelling from outside the UK.
Under-16s enter free with an accompanying adult on standard admission. That does not mean every class is free or suitable for children. The organizer currently marks Creative Craft VIP tickets sold out, so a generic venue description mentioning VIP should not be read as availability.
Does a workshop ticket include show admission?
Usually, you need a main show ticket as well. The November workshop page makes a specific exception for masterclasses, whose price includes show entry. Read the actual session description before buying another admission ticket.
The organizer asks participants to reach the workshop area at least five minutes before the start. Workshop tickets are non-refundable. Some sessions are unsuitable for under-16s; ask before booking if the listing leaves the age requirement unclear. Children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
A 09:45 class after 09:30 opening leaves little margin for arrival queues and finding the workshop area. Choose an arrival plan with time to spare, or a later session. Do not book two activities back to back just because their stated durations appear to fit.
Make & Takes have different prices and booking rules
These smaller sessions take place at individual stands. The current Make & Takes list is more useful than treating them as a single included activity:
| Example | Listed cost and duration | Booking and age information |
|---|---|---|
| Pinflair / Silvar Design, stand D40C: Kinusaiga | GBP8; 30-45 minutes | Book at the stand on the day; minimum age 16 |
| Craft Kits by Katrilee, stand A29C: polymer-clay jewellery | GBP15 adult or GBP10 under 16; 30-60 minutes with a baking break | Drop in; age 5+; last session at 15:00 |
Under-16s must be accompanied. These examples were listed on October 24, not a guarantee of a place when you arrive. Ask about collection time before starting something that needs baking or finishing. Keep it clear of your train departure.
If making something is the main purpose of your day, deal with its booking first. If browsing is the priority, leave room for a session you find at a stand rather than filling the day in advance.
Reach the NEC through Birmingham International
Use Birmingham International railway station for the exhibition campus, not Birmingham New Street in the city centre. The NEC's travel page describes the connection from International into the venue. Leave additional time to reach Hall 12 after arriving at the campus.
From Birmingham Airport, the free Air-Rail Link takes you to International station; follow NEC signs onward. It is not an aircraft departure, but it also does not deliver you directly to a workshop seat. Check current service information if your flight arrives very early or late.
For trains, use the National Rail journey planner linked by the venue and check the return service for your actual visit date. A map's outdoor road route may not reflect the signed station-to-NEC connection. If staying in central Birmingham, compare the complete hotel-to-hall journey rather than treating every hotel with an airport label as equally convenient.
Parking: book the right event and keep the confirmation
The NEC parking page advertises a GBP5 saving against standard on-the-day parking when booked before midnight the previous day. Available products and prices depend on the event and dates selected. A parking quote for a concert or the following week's car show is not this event's quote.
The campus uses number-plate recognition. Check the registration and booking period, then follow the venue's event parking signs. B40 1NT brings you to the site, not necessarily to the car park you should enter.
If staying overnight or attending several days, confirm the booking covers that entire period. Do not assume a single day's parking includes a hotel stay. Accessible bays are allocated first come, first served even when parking has been prepaid; prepayment alone does not reserve a particular accessible space.
Bags, cash and a manageable day inside
The NEC facilities page lists cloakrooms beside the halls at GBP2 per coat and GBP3 per bag. They close when the event closes and do not provide overnight storage. Retrieve luggage before heading for another venue or dinner.
Carry a reusable shopping bag and decide how much you can comfortably take home. Fabric, tools and kits can become awkward to carry after several hours. A small shopping list with quantities or project measurements is more useful than buying supplies you cannot match later.
For an overseas visit, ask individual sellers which payment methods they accept rather than assuming every stand is cashless. The venue's visitor guidance locates the nearest cash machine at International station and warns that withdrawal fees may apply. Keep a payment alternative that works for your circumstances.
Take a meal break before a booked session, and check the route between stands early. The show can be a shopping day, a class day or a mixture; trying to finish every hall and several workshops is not necessary to make the visit worthwhile.
Children and access needs: check the activity as well as the building
Free child admission and a child-friendly activity are different things. Choose a session whose age rule fits, allow time for the accompanying adult, and keep some unbooked time if a child tires of browsing.
The NEC accessibility guide describes lifts, accessible toilets and the covered station connection. Ask the organizer about concessionary admission and the specific workshop setup. Building access does not establish that a particular workbench or tool suits your needs.
Mobility equipment can be booked ahead, but current NEC pages give different hire charges and reservation-hold times. Confirm the amount, collection point and latest pickup time directly when booking rather than relying on one general page. For an accessible taxi pickup, tell the operator about your requirements so the driver can arrange the appropriate venue access.
Save tickets offline and use data beyond the halls
Keep the admission ticket, workshop confirmation, stand details and return journey available offline. Screenshot a session's location and collection instructions before leaving the hotel. A charged phone and power bank are useful even if you do not need another mobile plan.
The NEC provides free visitor Wi-Fi. That may cover browsing inside. For an international visitor using maps, train updates and messages across the rest of the trip, OpenSim United Kingdom plans provide an option beyond the venue network. The catalog checked on October 24 listed 1GB for seven days at USD1.14 with top-up supported on that plan. Check its current terms; indoor reception and a lowest-price comparison are not promised. If your normal roaming allowance fits, an additional plan may be unnecessary.
Use the travel data calculator, phone compatibility guide and installation timing guide. For a longer family trip, see the United Kingdom with kids. The NEC Classic Motor Show guide covers a separate event the following week, not extra admission on this ticket.
