Rainbow-lit bridge and trees at the Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry in October 2017

The Enchanted Forest runs in Faskally Wood, near Pitlochry, from October 8 to November 8, 2026. Your ticket includes the return shuttle from town. Choose the departure type before paying: the main coach, the Accessibility Bus and pre-booked wheelchair parking have different arrangements.

The official event website is the starting point for tickets and daily notices. This is a timed evening woodland visit, so the journey back matters as much as getting there. A late departure that looks convenient on the booking calendar may not fit your last train home.

What is different at the 25th-anniversary show?

The organizer's October 8 opening announcement names this year's production Stop the Clock: The 25th Hour. Its time-themed installations include a talking clock, neon cogs, illuminated clouds and flamingos, accompanied by a commissioned soundtrack.

The 2026 map announcement is a useful place to start planning. Check the edition printed on any downloaded map; an older accessibility diagram or photograph may describe a different layout.

Think of the evening as a sequence of installations to pause at, rather than a race around the shortest walking route. Give children time to look and listen. You do not need to photograph every stop, and taking a few pictures away from the main flow leaves more room for everyone else.

Which ticket and departure should you choose?

The accessibility guidance places the Accessibility Bus at Blair Athol Distillery, with parking included. It has steps and a ramp, but no wheelchair spaces.

Wheelchair parking requires a separate reservation, subject to availability. An Accessibility Bus ticket does not reserve wheelchair transport.

Autism Friendly sessions have smaller groups and initially lower sound, increasing later. Woodland gradients can limit access; discuss individual needs before booking. The organizer advises people with photosensitive epilepsy not to attend. Accessible toilets are near the accessible drop-off and wheelchair parking.

Published ticket prices are starting prices

The organizer's 2026 ticket page currently advertises these amounts in pounds sterling:

TicketAdvertised starting price
AdultGBP 28.50
ChildGBP 15.50
FamilyGBP 78.50
Child under threeFree, but still needs a ticket

A family ticket covers two adults and two children under 16. For a party with under-threes, compare individual adult tickets plus the free child tickets rather than assuming the family product saves money.

Prices vary by date and departure, may increase, and attract a 7% non-refundable booking fee. Check the final total for the actual session. The lowest advertised amount does not prove that a seat is available at that price tonight.

Free carer tickets are limited and require supporting evidence during booking. Check availability for your date before buying other tickets.

Your ticket time is the shuttle check-in window

The event FAQ explains that the ticket time starts a 15-20 minute departure window, not a fixed performance in the forest. The bus journey takes about ten minutes. Follow your ticket's check-in instructions rather than arriving at the woodland for that time.

The organizer suggests 60-90 minutes in the forest. One circuit from the bus is about 1.8 km, and the site closes at 22:30. Allow additional time for queuing, both shuttle journeys and the walk to your onward transport.

For a same-night return, work backward from the last suitable train or coach. Leave a buffer rather than subtracting only the ten-minute shuttle ride. For young children, compare an earlier departure with the extra travel and accommodation cost of staying overnight. An overnight stay can remove the last-train pressure, but it is not automatically the cheaper choice.

Getting to Pitlochry without driving to the forest

Traffic Scotland's current event advisory warns of busier A9 traffic during the run and confirms that general visitors use the shuttle rather than parking at the forest.

The organizer's travel page places the main departure point about two minutes' walk from Pitlochry station. Check ScotRail for your actual date, including the return, before buying a rail-and-show combination separately. A route that reaches Pitlochry in the afternoon does not establish a usable late service home.

If you are traveling from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth or Inverness, compare the whole journey rather than choosing a connection for scenery alone. A sightseeing stop on the way needs its own margin before a timed departure. Avoid making the evening depend on several tight connections.

The organizer also warns that local taxis are limited after 21:00 and recommends advance booking. Reserve a specific pickup arrangement if you need one; do not assume an app will produce a nearby driver after the last shuttle.

Parking in town means a separate walk to check-in

The official parking guide identifies main departures at Fishers Hotel on Atholl Road. It gives approximate walks of five minutes from Atholl Road car park, seven from Rie-achan Road and eight from Ferry Road.

Those are walking estimates, not promises of vacant spaces. Allow time to find a lawful bay and read its restrictions. The organizer warns that enforcement continues during the event, including after 18:00. A general claim that evening parking is free does not permit parking outside a bay or ignoring a restriction.

Save the car park's name and the walking route before leaving the car. If your return involves an unfamiliar dark path, carry a small torch rather than relying entirely on a phone screen.

Children, food and a wet-weather decision

Bring a folding buggy if needed: the FAQ says it must fold for the main shuttle. Carry the actual ticket with its unique barcode, printed or on a phone. A purchase-confirmation message alone is not a substitute for a scannable ticket.

The food page lists pizza, burgers, chicken tacos and sweet options including marshmallows. It also advertises vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. Ask vendors about ingredients and cross-contact for a particular allergy; those labels do not establish suitability for every dietary need.

Decide whether you want dinner before departure or food along the trail, and budget separately from admission. With children, having eaten beforehand can make it easier to stop when they are tired rather than feeling committed to another queue.

Pack waterproof outer layers and shoes for an evening outdoors. Check the organizer's daily weather notice before setting off. Do not assume rain automatically cancels the show or guarantees a refund. For a change of plan, use the issuer's current terms and support route rather than advice from a past edition.

Tickets, route checks and mobile data

Save tickets, the departure address and the return plan before leaving your accommodation. Keep a power bank available: mobile data cannot help when the phone holding the ticket is flat.

At our October 17 check, OpenSim's UK eSIM page included a fixed 5 GB, 30-day plan for USD 4.76, eligible for top-up. That is a practical option for a visitor using rail updates, maps and family messages across a Scotland trip without choosing a daily allowance. Recheck the selected plan's current price and activation terms before paying.

It does not guarantee reception in the woodland or priority service at a busy event. If your existing mobile plan already includes adequate UK roaming, use that rather than buying a duplicate allowance.

Check phone support, installation timing and the travel data calculator before departure. Our United Kingdom with kids guide covers the wider holiday; this page covers the timed Pitlochry evening.

Event, ticket, transport and access information was checked on October 17, 2026, against the organizer and Traffic Scotland. Check the live booking calendar for remaining sessions. This guide will be reviewed for changed departure arrangements, access provisions, weather notices or ticket terms, and after the November 8 closing date.
