Equita Lyon runs October 28-November 1, 2026, at Eurexpo in Chassieu. Buy for the competition you want to see: a reserved headline-session ticket includes that day's exhibition entry, but an exhibition pass does not include every final. For public transport, use the event's dated 2026 T5 and N186 timetable, especially after the Friday and Saturday evening shows.

The French Equestrian Federation's announcement confirms the 32nd edition. Dressage, jumping, driving and Western riding sit alongside shopping, breed displays and children's activities. You can make this a day out without committing to an expensive evening seat, or build a longer visit around a particular discipline.

For a first visit, choose one sporting priority and leave time to explore. Trying to watch every arena while comparing equipment and keeping children occupied makes for a tiring day with little room for lunch.

Exhibition tickets and reserved sessions are different purchases

The organizer's ticket guide lists ordinary exhibition admission separately from numbered competition seats. The following exhibition prices were published when checked on October 18:

Exhibition optionPublished priceMain condition
Adult, one dayEUR25Exhibition admission
Child aged 6-12, one dayEUR16Exhibition admission
Child under 6FreeDo not apply this to reserved competitions
Five-day exhibition passEUR75Same headline-event exclusions as a day ticket
Family passEUR65Two adults and two children under 16; sold on site only

Two adult tickets and two EUR16 child tickets total EUR82, so the advertised family combination is EUR17 less for that group. Different ages change the comparison. Two adults with two children under six would pay EUR50 for ordinary exhibition admission, making the family pass unnecessary for that example.

Compare the actual people attending, then check any current checkout fees and eligibility. Do not assume that a price called reduced applies to your child at a reserved session. FFE members can also check the federation's current EUR22.50 exhibition concession and its proof requirements.

Which Equita Lyon competitions cost extra?

The official admission FAQ excludes these sessions from both the one-day exhibition ticket and the five-day pass:

  • Friday October 30: Longines Grand Prix Sport & Show evening.
  • Saturday October 31: Equita Masters Sport & Show evening.
  • Saturday October 31: NRHA Euroderby Final Open.
  • Sunday November 1: NBHA European Barrel and Pole Bending final.
  • Sunday November 1: Longines FEI Jumping World Cup.

A numbered ticket for one of these includes exhibition entry from 08:00 on the same day. Check that inclusion before adding another admission ticket. Everyone, regardless of age, needs a ticket for the paid numbered sessions.

Ask for the precise session name if buying through a reseller. A ticket for Saturday's Western final is not interchangeable with the Saturday jumping evening. Equally, a seat for Sunday does not give you ordinary exhibition entry on Friday.

Seat category, sightline and session length matter as much as the starting price. Check the current official programme and booking screen for the performance time; exhibition opening hours are not competition start times.

Choosing a day and a programme

The federation's 2026 preview identifies Mountain Trail as a new addition. It also gives established equestrian fans reasons to choose different days, rather than treating all five as the same shopping fair. Start with the discipline you follow and use the dated event programme to find its arena.

For a mixed group, alternate watching with time away from the stands. Explain the basic rules of a discipline before settling in: a child who knows what the rider is attempting has something to follow beyond whether the horse clears an obstacle.

The organizer's breed and breeding section describes a daily parade of horse and pony breeds. This is a useful alternative to an entire competition session for someone interested in the animals rather than results. Confirm its time and location in the current programme.

Shopping visitors should bring sizes, measurements and a list of equipment they genuinely need. Compare the final price and return conditions rather than assuming every show offer is cheaper than buying online. Leave room in your luggage, particularly if flying home with bulky purchases.

Visiting Equita Lyon with children or a stroller

The children's village has pony-related activities in the current programme, but check the particular activity's age, queue and booking arrangements before promising a ride. An exhibition admission price does not establish that every optional activity is included.

One practical restriction deserves planning: strollers are not accepted in the grandstands, according to the visitor information page. Ask where a stroller can be left before buying seats, and decide whether a carrier suits your child. Do not leave valuables in unattended equipment.

Allow for an early meal and a break before a long session. A shorter daytime visit can be a better choice than combining an early arrival with an evening competition. For a wider holiday, our France with kids guide covers country-level family planning without turning this event visit into a packed itinerary.

Disabled visitors can collect free exhibition admission with supporting documentation at the main entrance counters. Companions need ordinary admission. Contact the organizer separately about paid accessible competition seating.

Getting to Eurexpo from central Lyon or the airport

Set your destination to the visitor entrance on Boulevard de l'Europe, Chassieu. Eurexpo is outside central Lyon; accommodation described as near Lyon is not enough to establish a convenient journey home.

The event's 2026 TCL transport sheet names two direct final connections:

  • Tram T5 from Grange Blanche to Eurexpo. Metro D connects central Lyon with Grange Blanche.
  • Bus N186 from Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie to Eurexpo. From Part-Dieu, the organizer suggests T3 to La Soie, then N186.

TCL's Eurexpo guidance also describes taking Rhônexpress from Saint-Exupéry Airport to La Soie, then the event shuttle. Use N186 for this edition. Do not treat an old event's N100 instructions as the current Equita timetable, or assume T5 starts at La Soie.

Check airport and local transport tickets separately. Leave time for the change, finding the correct stop and boarding with luggage. A route planner's vehicle time is not the whole arrival journey.

Last T5 and N186 departures after the show

The 2026 sheet publishes these last departures from Eurexpo's main entrance. All times are local; Friday and Saturday's after-midnight departures fall on the following calendar day.

Exhibition dayLast T5 toward Grange BlancheLast N186 toward La Soie
Wednesday October 2821:5522:00
Thursday October 2921:5522:00
Friday October 3001:3001:15
Saturday October 3101:3001:15
Sunday November 122:0020:30

These are departures from the exhibition site, not a guarantee of an onward metro, train or bus. Check the complete journey to your address, including the last connection. Leave a margin to walk out of the arena and reach the stop; planning to board the final vehicle gives you no recovery time.

Save the dated PDF before leaving your accommodation, then check TCL for changes on the day. If staying after your final useful connection, arrange an alternative before the session rather than assuming taxis will be waiting outside.

Weekend park-and-ride needs its own reservation

Eurexpo's current event notice confirms Groupama Stadium park-and-ride on Saturday October 31 and Sunday November 1 only, at EUR8 per vehicle including the shuttle. Online booking is required.

Its last return shuttle from Eurexpo is 00:30 after Saturday's programme, compared with 19:00 on Sunday. Do not use the later T5 timetable to decide when to retrieve your parked car: these are different services.

Follow the venue's booking link and select the actual date. Parking admission is separate from exhibition or competition admission. Confirm the car park, passenger conditions and return instructions on the reservation, and keep them with the day's event tickets.

Equita Lyon app, tickets and offline preparation

Download the official Equita Lyon app through the organizer's links. Its published functions include the programme, stand map, arena livestreams and downloadable videos. Use TCL's journey planner for transport and an offline map for your accommodation and the relevant interchange.

Exhibition e-tickets work printed or on a phone; only the first presentation is accepted. Confirm receipt before queuing, especially if buying on arrival.

Mobile data can help retrieve that email, check a changed connection or find your group in another hall. It cannot repair a ticket-system outage or guarantee indoor reception. Agree on a meeting point and carry enough battery for the return journey, rather than spending the last charge watching livestreams.

OpenSim data for a short Lyon visit

OpenSim's France catalog listed 1GB for seven days at US$1.40 and 3GB for 15 days at US$3.40 on October 18. Both supported top-up. These fixed allowances offer a small-trip option if you mainly need maps, messaging and ticket emails rather than a daily high-data plan.

Check your existing carrier first: if France is already included at a suitable allowance, you may not need another plan. Otherwise compare current France eSIM plans, estimate usage with our travel data calculator, and read the phone compatibility and installation timing guides before departure.
