FAN EXPO Canada 2026 guide: badges, schedule and Toronto travel

FAN EXPO Canada runs from August 27 to 30, 2026 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Early badge pickup is open on August 25 and 26, and the organizer is still posting guest and schedule changes close to opening day.

The short answer: collect the badge early if you are already in Toronto, activate it before entering, and build the day around building locations rather than celebrity names alone. Keep event admission, photo ops, autographs and specially ticketed events as separate purchases. Save the schedule and meeting point before walking into the show.

This guide was checked against current event, ticket, venue and transport information on August 25. Recheck the official schedule on the day because guests, rooms and session times can change.

FAN EXPO Canada 2026 at a glance

Choose the day by pace, not only by guest list

Thursday is the shortest public day. The 2 PM preview applies only to eligible VIP, Ultimate and advance-purchase 4-Day badge holders. General Thursday admission begins at 4 PM. It can suit shopping and a first look at the floor, but there is less time to recover from a late arrival.

Friday and Saturday have the longest hours. Saturday also carries the highest risk of long queues because many prominent sessions fall on that day. Sunday ends at 5 PM and may suit families or visitors with a fixed evening departure, provided the wanted guests and activities are still scheduled.

Do not choose a day from an old guest graphic. The organizer announced both an added appearance and a cancellation on August 24. Open the current FAN EXPO Canada schedule and the guest page before buying, then check again on the morning of the visit.

Collect the badge before opening day when possible

Early pickup runs Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 from 11 AM to 8 PM in South Building Level 500. Bring the e-ticket because it is the proof of purchase. Early pickup removes one queue from the event day, but it does not grant entry before the badge type allows it.

During the show, pre-purchased badges can be collected in either building:

Choose the pickup that matches the first scheduled room. Crossing the complex immediately after collecting a badge wastes the time saved by arriving early. The official badge-pickup instructions also explain how to collect admission for another day.

Customer Service and Will Call are in South Building Room 501. Use that desk for an admission-order problem, a missing shipped badge or an activated lost badge. A visitor who already has a working e-ticket should use the normal ticketing area instead of joining the Customer Service line.

Activate the badge before joining the entrance queue

Register the badge at the activation address printed by the organizer. Keep it visible and tap it at both entry and exit. That exit tap matters if you plan to return later on the same day.

Activation also protects the purchase. The official badge policy says a lost or stolen badge can be replaced only when it was activated and registered to the holder. The current deactivation and replacement fee is $5. A damaged or tampered badge may not qualify for replacement.

Take a private photograph of the badge number after activation, but do not post it publicly. The photograph is a reference for Customer Service, not a credential that works at the entrance.

Plan around two buildings

FAN EXPO Canada uses the North and South Buildings. They are connected, but a room number in one building is not a short doorway away from a room in the other. Crowds, escalators and the bridge can turn a simple map line into a missed session.

Group the day by building:

1. Mark every must-see panel, photo op, autograph area and activity as North or South.
2. Keep consecutive fixed appointments in the same building when possible.
3. Allow at least 30 minutes for a building change on a busy day. This is a practical attendee buffer, not an organizer guarantee.
4. Put shopping and flexible floor time around fixed sessions rather than between two distant appointments.
5. Pick one reunion point in each building instead of using a vague instruction such as "meet near the entrance."

Download the current map when the organizer publishes it and save a screenshot for navigation. A saved map will not show a late room change, so pair it with the live schedule.

Use the official app for the schedule, then keep an offline copy

The FAN EXPO Canada mobile app lets visitors build a personal schedule from panels, workshops and photo ops. Add only the priorities first. A phone calendar full of overlapping activities is not a workable plan.

For every fixed item, save:

• title and guest name
• date and start time
• North or South Building
• room, theatre or booth number
• admission or extra-purchase requirement
• a backup activity in the same building

Guest changes are normal at a convention. On August 24, the organizer added W. Earl Brown to Sunday and announced that Christopher Lambert could no longer attend. Treat the app and official social account as current operational sources. A travel article or saved guest graphic can become stale before the doors open.

Event admission does not include every experience

A valid event badge gets the holder into the show during the badge's day and access window. It does not automatically include a celebrity photo op, autograph, VIP package or specially ticketed panel. Those products can also have their own day and time.

Before paying for an add-on, check five fields:

1. Is event admission required separately?
2. Is the purchase valid on the same day as the badge?
3. Is the session timed or first come?
4. Does it include a photo, autograph, reserved seat or only one of them?
5. What happens if the guest cancels?

Current demand is uneven. The organizer announced that Mark Hamill VIP packages were sold out, while the Mark Hamill Live panel on Saturday at 4 PM remained free with event admission and first-come seating at the time of review. That is a useful example of why a sold-out package does not always mean every way to see a guest is gone. It is not a promise that a seat will be available.

Photo ops run on session time, not an all-day queue

The official photo-op guidance says event admission is required separately. A photo op includes one 8-by-10 print, and up to three friends can join the purchaser in the photograph. An autograph is a separate purchase.

Choose the correct day at checkout. Epic Photo Ops assigns the session or group closer to the event. The account may allow a move to another available session, but availability can disappear.

Line up 5 to 15 minutes before the assigned photo-op time. Security may ask people who arrive more than 15 minutes early to leave the area until their group is called. Arriving after the guest has left can mean no photo and no refund. Save the Epic receipt and session details on the phone before entering the building.

Autographs need a separate time and payment plan

Many autographs are sold at the guest's table rather than through one universal timed system. The line, signing window, item limit and payment method can vary by guest. Use the posted table instructions instead of assuming that every celebrity accepts the same card or cash option.

Do not place a photo op and a long autograph attempt back to back in different buildings. Photo ops have fixed groups, while autograph timing can move with the guest's panel and break schedule. If an autograph is the day's priority, visit the table early to read the current instructions, then decide whether the queue fits the rest of the plan.

Keep receipts for any pre-purchased autograph or special experience. If a guest cancels, follow the seller's message and refund process rather than buying a replacement from a stranger in a social thread.

Bags and strollers are allowed, but there is no general storage

FAN EXPO Canada's current storage guidance says there is no coat check, locker area or general storage facility. Bags are allowed but may be searched. The published guidance reviewed for this article does not state one universal bag-size limit, so do not invent one from another convention.

Carry a bag that remains comfortable in narrow aisles and can hold a purchased item without blocking other visitors. Leave suitcases with the hotel or another verified service before reaching the venue. The Prop Check desk is not a cloakroom.

Strollers are permitted. The organizer warns that crowds can make them difficult to move. A compact stroller and a same-building schedule reduce the strain. Families should note the Kids' Zone room and one quiet fallback before the day begins rather than trying to cross the whole complex for every activity.

Props must pass inspection

All props are subject to inspection. If approved, the prop receives a visible sticker. A visitor carrying an unstickered prop may be directed to Prop Check or asked to remove it from the convention floor.

The FAN EXPO Canada props policy generally prohibits metal and wooden prop weapons. Live firearms, airsoft guns, decommissioned firearms and solid replica firearms are not allowed. Projectile props need the required orange tip and cannot fire. Prop bows and slingshots cannot function, arrows are prohibited, and metal swords or knives are not permitted. Foam or lightweight melee props can be approved when they have no sharp edge, sharp point or excessive weight.

Security makes the final decision. If the costume depends on a prop, read the full policy before traveling with it and plan where the item will go if it is refused. Carrying a realistic prop uncovered on public transit can also cause alarm, so pack it securely between the hotel and venue.

Accessibility support does not replace admission or guarantee a seat

Visitors who need accessibility support should start at the Accessibility Services Desk in the ticketing or entrance hall. The organizer provides Medical Stickers for people who identify as having accessibility needs. The sticker does not include admission, early entry or guaranteed seating.

The accessibility policy says accessible panel seating is available when space remains and recommends arriving at least 15 minutes early. A medical companion pass may be available when a visitor requires a support person, but it must be collected each day and special-ticketed events can use different rules.

FAN EXPO does not rent wheelchairs, walkers or canes. Arrange equipment before the event. If an interpreter or another accommodation is required, contact the organizer rather than relying on an on-site request.

Getting there from Union Station or Pearson Airport

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is at 255 Front Street West. Union Station connects to the venue through the weather-protected Skywalk. It is the useful reference point for TTC subway, GO Transit and UP Express arrivals.

The event sells a GO Add-On Ticket that includes a round trip from any GO station to Union. The official getting-here page tells travelers to compare it with the normal cost of their route before buying. A named event product is not automatically the cheapest fare for every origin.

UP Express links Toronto Pearson Airport to Union. The event page states a 28-minute trip and trains every 15 minutes, but check the live UP Express service before relying on a particular departure. From Union, follow the Skywalk signs to the convention centre.

TTC also reaches Union and the surrounding downtown stops. Check the TTC service alerts on the travel day. A rideshare pin at the wrong building can add a long walk, so use the entrance that matches badge pickup and the first scheduled room.

Build one day around fixed appointments

Start with one fixed priority, not a complete wish list. The remaining blocks should protect that priority from queues and building changes.

Saturday visitors should add more line time. Sunday visitors should protect the earlier closing time. Anyone with an evening flight or train should treat the departure as a fixed appointment and work backward from Union rather than leaving the hall at the last possible minute.

An international visitor may need data before reaching hotel or venue Wi-Fi: at Pearson, on UP Express, when a guest changes, or while finding a different entrance.
