Electric Picnic 2026 guide: tickets, map and travel

Electric Picnic 2026 runs from Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30 at Stradbally Hall in County Laois. Early Entry camping begins at 2pm on Thursday, August 27 for people who hold both a weekend ticket and the separate Early Entry pass. Weekend tickets are sold out.

The short answer: get the current festival app, Ticketmaster account and travel plan onto your phone before leaving Wi-Fi. Tickets use a moving barcode, the map and timetable are in the app, and road controls begin before the main festival. Visitors aged 13 to 17 cannot attend, even with an adult. The only exception to the over-18 rule is for children aged 12 and under with a ticket-holding parent or guardian.

This guide was checked against the live Electric Picnic information, Ticketmaster help, the 2026 ticket terms and the Garda traffic plan on August 25. The schedule and map arrived during festival week, so reopen the app and official travel page before setting out.

Electric Picnic 2026 at a glance

The site is much larger than the Main Arena. The correct car park, campsite gate, station shuttle or PUDO route matters more than the shortest line shown by a general map app.

Use the timetable to plan the late exit

The full schedule was released on August 24 and is available through the official app. These Main Stage sets define the latest practical departure on each night:

Those are only the Main Stage times. Electric Arena, Rankin's Wood, Terminus, comedy and smaller areas run their own overlapping programmes. Use the app to mark priorities, then save the final return plan separately. A schedule change should not leave the accommodation address or station handoff trapped inside one app screen.

Saturday finishes later than Friday and Sunday. Coach and pickup arrangements need to match the actual day, not a general festival estimate. If your operator assigns a return bay or departure time, record it before entering the arena.

Sold-out tickets and official resale

Electric Picnic says its 2026 tickets are sold out. Ticketmaster is the authorized ticket agent, and Ticketmaster resale is the official resale route. A ticket offered through a social-media comment, direct message or unofficial marketplace does not gain protection because the seller shares a convincing screenshot.

The 2026 terms use moving digital barcodes. Open the live ticket through the account or app that issued it. A static screenshot is not a substitute for the changing barcode. Check the account email, sign-in and phone battery before traveling, while there is still time to use Ticketmaster support.

There are no print-at-home tickets. If the barcode is missing, confirm that:

1. You are signed into the account used for the order.
2. The Ticketmaster app is current.
3. The phone date and time are set automatically.
4. The event appears under the correct account.
5. You have not confused a purchase confirmation with the entry ticket.

Do not buy a general weekend ticket and assume it includes Early Entry, family camping, glamping or a campervan pitch. Each of those arrangements has its own eligibility or supplementary pass.

Gate and ticket-resolution times

The official ticket information lists different wristband and ticket-resolution windows by entrance. Abbeyleix, PUDO and Quarry open at 2pm on Thursday. Molly's Gate opens at noon on Thursday. Their final published ticket-resolution cutoff is 9pm on Sunday.

Family ticket resolution has shorter weekend windows: Thursday 2pm to midnight, Friday 9am to midnight, Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm. General campervan resolution begins Wednesday from noon to 9pm, then continues during the published Thursday-to-Sunday windows.

These are service windows, not promises of a queue-free entry. Arriving close to a cutoff creates a problem that a valid ticket may not solve. Match the entrance to the ticket type before joining traffic around Stradbally.

Get the current map and app ready

The official Electric Picnic app is available for Android and iPhone. Its current listing includes stage times, festival updates, travel information, food and drink details, and a real-time interactive map.

The 2026 map appeared during festival week after repeated public questions about campsite and car-park locations. Update the app and download or save the current map before departure. An old site map can place camping, campervans, entrances and services in the wrong area.

Prepare three separate backups:

• Keep the live moving ticket in its official account or supported wallet flow.
• Save the site map and your campsite or meeting point for offline reference.
• Write the return operator, pickup bay and accommodation address in a plain note.

Do not screenshot the moving barcode and expect it to scan. The map, meeting point and travel notes are the useful items to save as static references.

Train, shuttle and coach choices

Portlaoise and Portarlington are the closest rail stations. A train ticket gets you to the station, not the festival gate. The official travel page lists Martley's shuttle buses from Portlaoise rail station, with tickets available at the door. It also lists a shuttle from Portlaoise Plaza near M7 Junction 17.

Check the train arrival against the shuttle operation and the correct entrance. A late train that misses the practical shuttle window can leave you paying for an unplanned taxi in managed festival traffic.

Direct festival coaches operate from Dublin and other Irish cities through operators listed by Electric Picnic. Read the exact product before booking because day returns, weekend returns, camping luggage and departure points differ. Keep the operator's contact and return instructions outside the festival app.

For an airport arrival, do not estimate the journey only from Dublin Airport to Portlaoise. Add baggage collection, the transfer to the coach or rail departure point, waiting time and the final shuttle. A same-day international arrival with a narrow gate window has little recovery time if the flight is late.

Driving, parking and the signed approach

The Garda traffic plan tells festival traffic to follow event signs and steward directions rather than satnav shortcuts. General parking opens at 2pm on Thursday. Family parking opens at 9am on Friday. There is no roadside parking, and vehicles left on the approach can be towed.

Approach the site using the route assigned to your ticket, campsite or parking area. The Garda plan manages traffic from the M7, N80 and surrounding regional roads. A map app may try to redirect drivers through a local road that is closed, resident-only or feeding a different entrance.

Non-event traffic is advised to avoid the area from 10am on Thursday, August 27 until 5pm on Monday, August 31. The R427 Cork Road and L3837 Timahoe Road have event controls through Monday afternoon.

The Monday exit has additional restrictions:

• The N80 can close between Bloomfield Cross and Simmonsmill Cross from 7am to 4pm.
• M7 Junction 16 is closed to traffic exiting the motorway from 7am to 4pm, although festival traffic can join the motorway there.
• M7 Junction 17 is closed to traffic exiting the motorway from 10am to 2pm; the Garda plan directs Portlaoise-bound traffic to Junction 18.

Fuel before joining the exit queue, keep water in the vehicle and do not schedule a tight flight or ferry connection on Monday morning.

Pickup, taxis and returning to the car

The designated pickup and drop-off area is the PUDO site off the N80 on the Portlaoise side of Stradbally. It is used by parents, taxis, registered coaches and minibuses. Collection from festival car parks is not permitted.

Share the PUDO location with the driver before the festival. A message saying "meet at the gate" is not enough when several entrances, traffic lanes and walking routes are active.

The car parks are not a convenient storage locker. The walk can be long, routes can be one-way or managed, and access may change with crowd movement. Carry the medicine, weather layer, charger and permitted supplies needed for the day instead of planning a quick return to the vehicle.

Arena bags, bottles and campsite supplies

Electric Picnic applies different rules to the arena and campsites. A larger camping bag can enter the campsite, but an arena bag must be no larger than A4. Pack a smaller day bag inside the camping luggage.

For water, the current official lists use slightly different wording. The practical conservative choice is an empty reusable non-glass bottle. If bringing a sealed disposable water or soft-drink bottle, keep it under 500ml. Free drinking-water points are located near toilet blocks. Recheck the app before entry in case security guidance changes.

Current campsite guidance allows personal alcohol within the published limit of 48 cans per person, with no glass. Alcohol cannot be carried into the arena during normal bar hours. The official item table describes a limited arena allowance after bars close at 2:30am, but that late rule does not justify carrying campsite alcohol through the arena gate earlier.

Other useful distinctions include:

• Disposable vapes are prohibited; refillable vapes are permitted, but none are sold onsite.
• Umbrellas are allowed in campsites but not in the arena.
• Disposable barbecues and gas canisters are prohibited.
• Professional cameras with detachable or long zoom lenses are prohibited.
• A power bank is useful, but it must still pass the current security rules.

Read the official prohibited-items table for cooking equipment, medication, camera or accessibility equipment that does not fit an ordinary packing list.

Cashless payment and phone backup

All bars, food stalls and market traders are cashless. Current accepted methods include debit cards, credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Bring a physical payment card as backup. A phone wallet is less helpful when the battery is flat, the device is lost or a terminal has trouble reading it.

Do not keep the ticket, map, payment method, coach booking and only group contact on one low-battery phone. At minimum, one other person should know the campsite, meeting point and return operator. Write an emergency contact on paper if the group includes children.

Free water reduces the need to buy repeated bottles, but it does not remove queues. Refill before a major closing set rather than leaving the crowd at the last minute.

Family camping and the strict age rule

Electric Picnic is strictly over 18 except for children aged 12 and under. People aged 13 to 17 cannot attend, even with a parent or guardian. Each ticket-holding adult can accompany no more than two children aged 12 or under.

Family camping is for adults attending with a child aged 12 or under. A family camping ticket is not a quieter general-camping upgrade for an adult-only group. Carry evidence of the child's age. The official ticket page says this can include a color copy of a passport or birth certificate alongside the parent's identification.

Adults should carry an accepted original ID such as a passport, Garda Age Card or driving licence. A student card or photograph of adult ID is not a reliable substitute for the published list.

Little Picnic provides family-focused activity inside the event, but the weekend still includes long walks, noise, crowds and late finishes. Use age-appropriate hearing protection, choose a meeting point away from a stage barrier and allow for an earlier exit than an adult-only group might choose.

Accessibility planning before arrival

Electric Picnic provides accessible camping, dedicated entrance lanes, toilets, charging facilities and a cold medication fridge. Access requests use the Nimbus Access Card or Digital Access Pass process. Visitors need a festival ticket before applying for most event access provisions.

The official accessibility page currently says the raised and ground viewing areas are at capacity and new applicants join a waiting list. Do not arrive assuming a platform place will be available because an access application was submitted late.

The accessibility page still links an older accessibility guide while current site-plan information is being updated. Use the live 2026 app, direct access communication and staff directions for this year's route. A previous map can still explain a service, but it should not control the journey across the current site.

Festival apps and offline preparation

Roaming eSIM for Electric Picnic and Ireland

International visitors can use mobile data for the moving ticket barcode, festival app, train status, shuttle details, weather and the route home. A Roaming eSIM can be installed before arrival while the normal SIM remains available for calls and texts. It cannot guarantee service inside an 80,000-person event, replace a charged phone or turn a ticket screenshot into a valid barcode.

Roaming eSIM's public Ireland catalog returned 16 plans on August 25. Current package records list 3, eir and Vodafone depending on the selected plan, with 5G labels subject to local network and device availability. Fifteen plans were marked as eligible for top-up and one was not. Check the selected card instead of assuming every package can be reloaded.
