AsiaWorld-Expo station exterior beside the exhibition venue in September 2025

The Festival of Connoisseurs runs at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo from November 4 to 6, 2026. Main-expo attendance requires an approved application, while the organizer's current Marina Showcase page allows public waterfront viewing without a ticket. The marina is now shore-only: visitors may not use the floating walkway or gangway, or approach the yachts closely. Decide which experience you want before traveling to the venue.

The inaugural event brings watches, design, automobiles, yachts and other collecting interests into one programme. Hong Kong's Financial Secretary marked its opening in a November 4 gala speech. For visitors, the more useful distinction is between the exhibition halls, the waterfront display and the later boat show in Discovery Bay. They do not share one admission arrangement.

All times below are Hong Kong local time. AsiaWorld-Expo is beside the airport on Lantau, not the convention centre in Wan Chai.

Expo, marina or Discovery Bay: choose the right visit

ExperienceLocation and datesAdmission decision
Main expoAsiaWorld-Expo, Halls 3 and 6; November 4-6Apply and wait for confirmation; the main event is for guests aged 18 and above
Marina ShowcaseWaterfront outside AsiaWorld-Expo's East Lobby; November 4-6Current dedicated page says no ticket required; viewing is from designated shore areas
Lantau Yacht Club Boat Show, Festa NauticaDiscovery Bay; November 6-8Complimentary admission with separate advance registration

The main-expo FAQ describes one-day and three-day access options. An application is not an approved pass, and an expo pass does not automatically reserve a private viewing or a seat in a small session. If you are bringing anyone under 18, ask about the specific outdoor event's conditions rather than assuming public waterfront access overrides the main festival's age rule.

The organizer's visiting timetable lists these expo hours:

DateMain-expo hours
Wednesday, November 410am-6pm
Thursday, November 511am-6pm
Friday, November 611am-5pm

Keep Friday's earlier finish in mind when choosing transport and sessions. A venue calendar's broader operating window is not a reason to arrive before the organizer's published visitor opening.

Marina access: view from shore, not the floating walkway

The current Marina Showcase instructions place it outside the East Lobby, a short signposted walk from the halls. They explicitly prohibit public access to the floating walkway and gangway and close approaches to vessels for operational and safety reasons.

That changes what a casual visit offers. You can see the yachts from the designated waterfront viewing area and look at the automobile display ashore. Do not plan on boarding a superyacht or walking along its hull because an older preview or search snippet describes that experience.

The marina's own hours are noon-6pm on November 4, 11am-6pm on November 5 and 11am-5pm on November 6. Its opening-day start differs from the halls. Follow staff directions if outdoor access changes, and ask about your intended route if you need step-free access or seating.

The no-ticket waterfront arrangement does not provide main-hall entry, food, a private yacht appointment or a place at an indoor tasting. Confirm any additional experience with the organizer before making it the reason for a long journey.

What to book inside the exhibition

The published programme includes watch-assembly activities, coffee and drinks masterclasses, performances and conversations with makers and specialists. Choose one or two things that interest you, then check their session times and entry conditions. Trying to fit every advertised theme into one afternoon leaves little time to talk to exhibitors.

The visiting guidance distinguishes the open Centre Stage and Forum programme from smaller sessions at The Library, The Oracle and Sunset Lounge. For those smaller spaces, collect a session ticket from the relevant stage concierge on the day. Places are first come, first served; unclaimed seats may be released once a session starts. That is a possible standby opportunity, not a reserved place.

Keep your approved confirmation accessible for badge redemption. Dress requirements also matter: the organizer does not permit sportswear or very casual footwear such as slippers and sandals. Wear shoes you can walk in without treating the event as a beach outing.

The FAQ lists a cloakroom near reception and says outside food and drinks are not permitted inside AsiaWorld-Expo. Ask about storage capacity, size restrictions and collection time before relying on it for flight luggage. A listed cloakroom is not proof that every bag can be stored until your departure.

Airport Express: the event offer has conditions

AsiaWorld-Expo has its own Airport Express station. The venue's rail guidance explains that same-day return schemes depend on using the same payment medium and meeting the stay requirement. Do not assume every fare advertised as "from HKD53" applies from every station.

The festival's November 4-6 transport fact sheet gives these adult examples:

Starting pointPublished same-day return arrangement
Hong Kong or Kowloon stationHKD65 event ticket, redeemed with event entry proof and an Octopus card
Tsing YiHKD53 using the same Octopus card and staying at AsiaWorld-Expo for over one hour

The Hong Kong and Kowloon redemption counters operate 10am-4pm on November 4-5, and 10am-3pm on November 6. Check the counter location and conditions in the fact sheet before entering the paid area. If you only intend to visit the public marina, ask whether your documentation qualifies as event entry proof; do not budget on a discount you cannot redeem.

The Airport Express ride from the airport to the venue is short. It is not the total time needed to leave an international connection, enter Hong Kong, reach the hall, return and complete departure formalities. On a layover, check your eligibility to enter and protect your flight connection before adding an exhibition visit.

X1 buses and the journey back to Tung Chung

The dated transport sheet also lists the X1 between Tung Chung Bus Terminus and AsiaWorld-Expo, at HKD6.10 per adult single journey, approximately every 15-20 minutes:

DateToward AsiaWorld-ExpoLeaving AsiaWorld-Expo
November 4-59:30am-4pm11:45am-7:15pm
November 611am-3pm1:15pm-6:15pm

These are event-specific windows, not an all-day everyday bus promise. A late-afternoon Friday arrival cannot rely on an outward X1 after 3pm. Check the rail alternative and your last useful connection before staying for another session.

Save the venue name, your hotel address and the return route before arriving. If splitting up, choose a named lobby or meeting point; "by the marina" is too vague when someone is at a different waterfront.

The November 6-8 boat show is in Discovery Bay

The Lantau Yacht Club Boat Show page lists November 6-8, 10am-6pm, at Lantau Yacht Club in Discovery Bay. Admission is complimentary but requires advance registration. Use the registration linked by the organizer rather than treating an expo confirmation as a boat-show booking.

A complimentary transfer from AsiaWorld-Expo to the yacht club is announced for November 6 only. The page says departure times and arrangements will be announced separately. Confirm a departure, boarding point, eligibility and your return journey before depending on it. Do not turn that announcement into a shuttle timetable for November 7 or 8.

The two venues are both on Lantau, but they are not the same stop or one continuous exhibition floor. Friday visitors should decide whether combining them leaves enough time at each. Saturday and Sunday visitors should plan directly for Discovery Bay, not travel to AsiaWorld-Expo expecting the main expo to remain open.

For a wider stay, our Hong Kong with kids guide covers family sightseeing separately from this adult-focused expo and its associated waterfront events.

Mobile data for a short Hong Kong visit

Download your approval email, registrations, transport sheet and hotel address before setting out. Keep a live connection for changed meeting points and transport updates, but retain an offline copy of essential details. Neither a screenshot nor a data plan overrides admission checks.

For visitors without included Hong Kong data, OpenSim Hong Kong plans provide a separate allowance for those tasks. The November 4 public catalog lists 1GB for 7 days at USD1.40 and 3GB for 15 days at USD3.40, both eligible for top-up. A defined allowance can suit a short event trip when you want to compare a known data purchase with your home operator's roaming terms.

If your existing plan already covers Hong Kong, another purchase may not be needed. A Hong Kong-only plan should not be assumed to cover a later Macao or mainland China visit, and mobile data cannot guarantee a signal in every busy hall.

Use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility, and read when to install before travel before choosing a plan.

Sources and updates

The organizer supplies attendance, programme, marina and boat-show rules. Its dated transport sheet supplies event fares and X1 windows; AsiaWorld-Expo supplies broader rail and airport guidance. Changes to public waterfront access, approval, hours, sessions, transfers or transport will trigger an update, followed by a review after November 8. The announced 2027 expansion should not be read as this edition's programme.
