Fiji Airways Western Sydney flights: schedule, fares and WSI transport
Fiji Airways has opened sales for a new direct service between Nadi International Airport and Western Sydney International Airport. The first flight is scheduled for Friday, March 19, 2027, followed by three flights a week on Monday, Friday and Sunday.
This is a future route, not a service already in operation. The main planning issue is the airport code. The new flights use WSI, while Fiji Airways' existing Sydney service uses Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, code SYD. The late timetable also makes the trip to or from WSI part of the booking decision.

The short answer: Fiji Airways plans to start Nadi to Western Sydney flights on March 19, 2027. FJ991 is listed from Nadi to WSI at 7:10 p.m., arriving at 10:55 p.m. FJ990 is listed from WSI at 11:55 p.m., reaching Nadi at 4:55 a.m. the next day. Both flights are scheduled on Monday, Friday and Sunday. Check WSI rather than SYD on every segment, and price the fare together with baggage and late-night ground transport.
This guide was checked at 5:15 p.m. WEST on September 9, 2026. The route is on sale, but it has not started operating. Schedules, fares, airport transport and connection options can change before March 2027. The issued itinerary and live operator information control an individual trip.
The announced Fiji Airways WSI schedule

The published times are local. Fiji Airways' announcement says daylight saving can change the timetable, so do not calculate a future transfer from these clock times without checking the dated booking.
Fiji Airways says it will use a Boeing 737 MAX 8. The Australian Government describes the aircraft as carrying up to 170 passengers. This is an announced Fiji Airways service, not a codeshare inferred from a timetable. The operating carrier shown on the final ticket still matters if another airline sells a connecting itinerary.
The official launch date is March 19. One same-day aviation report gives March 17, but that conflicts with the Fiji Airways announcement, the Australian Government release, the airport information and the published Friday operating pattern. This guide uses the date supported by those primary sources.
The route is bookable but not operating yet
The Fiji Airways distributed announcement says introductory fares are on sale. The WSI flight page also links travelers to the airline's booking site and describes the March 2027 service as bookable.
That establishes a scheduled and bookable route. It does not establish an operating history, an on-time record or a completed inaugural flight. Western Sydney International itself is due to open to passengers on October 25, 2026, almost five months before the Fiji Airways launch.
Keep the booking confirmation and watch for schedule messages. Recheck the airport code, flight number and departure time before paying for a hotel, boat or separate onward ticket that cannot move.
WSI and SYD are different airports
Western Sydney International uses WSI. Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport uses SYD. Fiji Airways says the new service will complement its existing Nadi to SYD flights, not replace them.
Search tools may label both airports as Sydney. Open every segment before purchase and confirm the three-letter code. Do the same when sending details to a driver, family member or hotel. A pickup arranged at SYD will not meet a passenger landing at WSI.
An itinerary that changes between WSI and SYD requires a surface journey across Sydney. It is not a walk between terminals. If a booking combines the airports, confirm whether the airline treats the connection as protected and who is responsible for the transfer. With separate tickets, allow for border processing, baggage collection, road time, a new check-in deadline and disruption risk.
Check late-night WSI transport before choosing the flight
The current Transport for NSW airport plan lists five regular routes serving WSI. Routes 772, 790, 825, 845 and 860 are planned every 30 minutes from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Those hours finish before the scheduled 10:55 p.m. arrival of FJ991.
The separate WSI Link is a free interim shuttle between St Marys station and the airport. Its published hours are every 30 minutes from 4:30 a.m. to midnight on Sunday through Thursday, and from 4:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. It is due to run once passenger flights begin and continue until Sydney Metro services start.
On the current plan, a Monday or Sunday FJ991 arrival leaves about 65 minutes before the final shuttle. Friday leaves about two hours. Neither is a connection promise. Border checks, baggage delivery, a late arrival and the final train from St Marys can change whether the trip works.
Transport for NSW says more timetable information is still to come. By March 2027, the shuttle, regular buses or Metro status may be different. Check the live journey planner for the exact date. If the public transport chain does not leave enough margin, compare a pickup, taxi, rideshare, hire car, parking or accommodation before choosing WSI on fare alone.
Compare the complete fare, not the headline
The launch advertising contains two different origin-specific examples. Fiji Airways promotes return economy fares from Fiji from FJD899 for selected travel dates between March 19 and August 5, 2027. The WSI page promotes return fares from Western Sydney from AUD639. Both advertise a September 23, 2026 booking deadline and remain subject to availability.
These are not two currency labels for one universal price. One starts in Fiji and the other starts in Australia. Search the complete return trip from the country where travel begins, then check the final currency, passenger total, payment fee and conditions.
Do not infer a checked bag from the headline fare. Industry coverage identifies the introductory economy offer as a Lite fare, while baggage rules can vary by fare family and itinerary. Read the allowance shown beside the selected fare and again in the payment summary. Check cabin baggage, seat selection, changes, refunds and meals at the same time.
If another airline or a Fiji Link domestic flight is on the itinerary, verify which allowance applies to each segment. A through booking may handle baggage differently from separately issued tickets.
Treat the early Nadi arrival as a planning constraint
FJ990 is scheduled to reach Nadi at 4:55 a.m. on the day after departure from WSI. The early arrival may create useful onward options, but the route announcement does not guarantee a particular domestic flight, ferry, hotel room or bag transfer.
For a connection on one ticket, confirm the operating carrier, minimum connection, baggage route and what happens after a delay. For separate tickets, assume the second operator can apply its own check-in cutoff and missed-departure rules. Leave time for immigration, baggage and customs when the itinerary requires them.
An early landing also does not create early hotel access. Ask the accommodation when the room becomes available and arrange a place for bags if needed. Confirm pickup dates carefully: a Sunday 11:55 p.m. departure from WSI is scheduled to reach Fiji on Monday.
Mobile data at both ends of the flight
