Girona's Fires de Sant Narcís takes place from October 23 to November 1, 2026. The opening night has a free 300-drone show at La Copa at 22:00. The main fire run is on October 24 at 22:30, while the children's fire run is on October 28 at 20:00. Pick your evening before arranging the journey home: city and regional night buses do not run on the same festival dates.

The official programme spreads the celebration across squares, parks and performance venues. There are also preliminary activities from October 17; those do not change the main festival dates. You can come for an afternoon of music and street events rather than staying for every late-night show.

This Girona Sant Narcis 2026 visitor guide focuses on choosing a manageable visit. Times are local, and outdoor events remain subject to organizer updates. Budget separately for rides, food and any ticketed activity you select.

Watch the opening drone show from the marked La Copa area

The city has announced Un somni a Fires, a 12-minute display on Friday, October 23, at 22:00. The 300 drones will form images connected with Girona's traditions, accompanied by music and voice.

The council specifies the esplanade at La Copa, in front of the stage, with spectators looking towards Sant Feliu. It will mark the area with suitable visibility. A convenient-looking bridge or hotel window is not necessarily an equivalent view of the formations or a place where you can hear the soundtrack.

The individual show listing confirms free admission. Arrive with time to find the designated area and follow crowd instructions. Do not make a tight connection depend on the display starting and finishing to the minute.

Choose a festival day by the event you want

These programme entries give you several different types of visit:

EventPublished date and startLocation
Opening proclamation, or *pregó*October 23, 20:00Plaça del Vi
Miki Núñez, Banda Neón and DJ Tramma concert nightOctober 23, from 22:30La Copa
Main correfoc with Diables de l'OnyarOctober 24, 22:30Starts at Plaça del Vi
Diada Castellera, human towersOctober 25, 11:30Plaça del Vi
Children's correfoc with Trons de l'OnyarOctober 28, 20:00Starts at Plaça de Sant Domènec

A concert-night start is not the individual stage time for every named act. Check the running order rather than turning up at 22:30 expecting the headliner immediately.

Plaça del Vi and La Copa serve different purposes in the programme. Leave time to walk between events, eat and find a place without obstructing others. Choosing one evening highlight is more practical than trying to follow the whole city at once.

The two correfocs are on different dates

The council's fire-run guidance and routes places the main October 24 correfoc in the old town, ending at Plaça de Sant Domènec. If rain causes postponement, the announced alternative is October 31 at the same time and on the same route. Check the council's decision before travelling; the fallback date does not mean there are two planned performances.

The children's run on October 28 follows a shorter route from Plaça de Sant Domènec towards Plaça de Jacint Verdaguer i Santaló. It is a separate event, not an early session of Saturday's main correfoc.

These events use pyrotechnics. The council tells attendees to wear cotton clothing covering the body and a cloth hat or head covering, keep safety distances and avoid crowding. Do not bring your own fireworks, handle the performers' pyrotechnics or throw water. Follow the full official guidance and stewards' directions.

The word "children's" does not establish that a fire run is quiet or suitable for every child. If your group does not want sparks or loud sound, choose a different programme activity rather than standing close and hoping the experience will be gentle.

Family music, quieter rides and meal breaks

The city's programme announcement includes Ramonets at La Copeta on October 24 and family activities beyond the late concerts. Music is also spread between La Copa, Parc del Migdia and the Envelat at Plaça de Miquel de Palol; check the location, not just the artist's name.

For the funfair, two dates have different purposes:

  • October 26, 17:00-20:00: *Fires en silenci*, with rides adapted acoustically and through lighting for children with additional needs.
  • October 27, from 17:00 until closing: the reduced-price ride day. Check each attraction's actual price and conditions.

Neither label means every part of the festival is quiet or free. Ask about the ride that interests your group, including any height or age restrictions, before joining its queue.

For a family afternoon, choose an activity, leave time for food and decide in advance whether the late show is realistic. If sitting down for dinner matters, arrange it with a restaurant rather than assuming there will be a table after a busy event. Confirm museum hours individually if sightseeing is part of the day.

Our Spain with kids guide covers wider holiday planning. You do not need to turn a short Girona visit into a tour of every nearby town.

City and regional night buses have different calendars

The 2026 official programme, pages 59-60, distinguishes these services:

ServiceFestival nights listed
Bus Nit Girona, city serviceOctober 23, 24, 28, 30 and 31
Bus Nit Gironès, regional serviceOctober 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31

Notice October 28 versus October 29. Do not assume that a regional bus runs on the night of the children's correfoc because the city service does.

The city night-bus diagram uses Avinguda de Ramon Folc, Jutjats, with different departure points by direction. It says TMG tickets are valid, but BUS UdG and ATM tickets are not. Check the payment option for your journey.

The regional timetable flags the clock change on the night of October 24-25 and says that night's service follows the old time. Confirm your route's departure with the operator; do not rely only on a phone's automatically changed clock.

These are local and regional services, not proof of an overnight connection to Barcelona or an airport. Compare the actual return train or coach before choosing a late show. If it does not fit, an overnight stay or an earlier visit is the better plan.

Crowd limits and the closing fireworks affect access

The council's visitor recommendations identify the fairground, La Copa concerts and major traditional events as busy areas. The October 31 human-tower climb on the cathedral steps has limited capacity for safety. Do not treat the steps as a guaranteed viewing place.

For the November 1 closing fireworks, the council warns of road restrictions around Ribes del Ter, La Devesa and Fontajau. The pedestrian footbridge from La Devesa to Ribes del Ter must be clear of people from 19:00 until the display ends. Plan a different crossing rather than using that bridge as your meeting point.

Agree where to meet if separated, keep exits and emergency routes clear, and follow temporary pedestrian directions. A route that works on an ordinary sightseeing day may not be available during an event.

The programme uses symbols for access provisions, high noise and crowded activities. Match those details to the event you choose and ask the organizer about seating or step-free access where needed. Do not assume all historic streets or viewing areas have the same conditions.

Use Girona App and check the correct airport connection

The official Girona App is available for Android and iOS, with a web version. It includes the municipal agenda, urban bus waiting times and traffic incidents. The publisher describes the mobile app as Catalan-only, so check that you can navigate it before relying on it during a busy evening. The bus information web app is another way to check stops and arrivals.

For a journey from outside Girona, use the council-linked Mou-te public transport planner and confirm the service with its operator. Check the date and direction of the return journey, not just the time needed to get there.

Aena's Girona-Costa Brava Airport bus page lists airport connections, including Sagalés services, with links for current timetables. Girona city and Barcelona are different destinations. An airport coach listing is not a festival-night shuttle, and its timetable should not be applied to a city bus.

Save your accommodation address, a meeting point and an offline map. Keep the return itinerary available without a connection, but recheck live changes before leaving the event.

For overseas visitors whose home plan does not cover Spain, OpenSim Spain plans provide a defined data allowance for checking a moved bus stop, looking up a programme change and messaging the group away from hotel Wi-Fi. On October 16, the public catalog listed 5 GB for 30 days at USD 4.76, with top-up available for that plan. Check the selected plan and price before purchase. Suitable included roaming may be simpler and avoids buying another allowance.

Use the travel data calculator, check phone compatibility and review installation timing before departure. Data does not include event admission, guarantee a crowd-free connection or make a bus run on an unlisted night.

Sources and changes before Girona's festival

OpenSim editorial team checked the linked municipal programme, transport documents, app and airport guidance on October 16, 2026. The Catalan government's event listing, updated October 14, confirms the main festival dates.

Review this guide before October 23 and when the council changes weather arrangements, routes, viewing access or special transport. After November 1, keep it as a record of the 2026 edition rather than current travel instructions.
