GlocalMe shows its physical eSIM Trio card at IFA 2026
GlocalMe is showing eSIM Trio at IFA 2026 in Berlin as part of its current travel-connectivity range. Despite the name, eSIM Trio is a physical card that goes into a phone's SIM slot. Its purpose is to let a compatible handset load and manage mobile profiles through the GlocalMe app.
That makes it relevant to travelers whose phones have a physical SIM slot but no built-in eSIM support. It does not help an eSIM-only phone with no tray, and it should not be treated as universally compatible without checking the exact handset.

What GlocalMe announced at IFA 2026
GlocalMe's September 4 announcement places eSIM Trio alongside its portable hotspots, power-bank combinations, travel adapter and charging products at IFA. The company says its broader connectivity range uses CloudSIM and relationships with more than 390 carriers to provide service in over 200 countries and regions.
IFA lists GlocalMe in Hall 3.2 at stand H3.2-143. The show appearance is new, but eSIM Trio itself is not a new 2026 invention. GlocalMe showed the product publicly in 2025. Travelers should read the IFA news as a current product showcase, not as the first launch date.
eSIM Trio is a physical adapter, not an embedded eSIM
An ordinary eSIM is built into the phone. A provider sends a digital profile to that embedded component, so there is no card to deliver or insert.
GlocalMe describes eSIM Trio as a physical product that combines OTA SIM, eSIM-profile and CloudSIM functions. The card occupies a physical SIM slot and the app manages the service. The current store page lists four setup steps:
- download the GlocalMe app and create an account;
- insert eSIM Trio into the phone;
- add the card's ICCID in the app; and
- choose and activate a data plan or supported profile.
The product can be useful where an otherwise suitable phone lacks embedded eSIM hardware. It cannot create a physical slot in a trayless device. Travelers with a US eSIM-only iPhone, for example, have nowhere to insert the card.
Compatibility needs more than an Apple or Android label
GlocalMe's sales page uses broad Apple and Android compatibility wording. A buyer should still confirm that the phone has an available physical slot, is unlocked, accepts the card, supports the app and retains any other line needed for calls or SMS.
An independent Japanese test reported that one eSIM Trio card worked in a Pixel 5 but was not recognized by a Pixel 9. That is one user's hardware result, not proof about every unit or Pixel. It is a useful reason to test the card before departure and keep the return terms.
The USD 29 card price does not include every trip's data
GlocalMe's international store currently lists the card at USD 29 before any applicable shipping or tax. The hardware price and the mobile-data price are separate. Buyers select a country or region and a package, then pay for the required service.
The product page says the eSIM-profile function includes three free writes, with additional writes sold in the app. It describes the card as generally valid for six months, with renewal in the app or continued use through data-package purchases. Those statements need clarification at checkout because card validity, account access, profile writes and a package's usage period are different clocks.
Before paying, ask what happens when a profile is deleted, the card moves to another phone, three writes have been used or no package is purchased for six months.
Physical delivery changes the travel deadline
A digital Roaming eSIM can be bought and installed without waiting for a parcel. eSIM Trio must arrive before it can be tested. The store calculates shipping at checkout, so check the delivery country, estimated arrival, tax and return cost before ordering close to a trip.
Do not make the first test at the destination airport. Insert the card, sign in to the official app and confirm that the phone recognizes it while reliable Wi-Fi and support are available.
GlocalMe eSIM Trio or Roaming eSIM?
The products solve different compatibility problems. eSIM Trio is most relevant when a phone has a physical slot but lacks suitable embedded eSIM support. A Roaming eSIM is the simpler route when the phone already supports standard digital profiles.
