The autumn K-Royal Culture Festival runs from Wednesday, October 7 to Sunday, October 11, 2026, across Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung and Changgyeonggung palaces, plus Jongmyo Shrine. A separate KBS "Immortal Songs" performance is scheduled outside Gyeongbokgung on Tuesday, October 6.
International visitors have reserved places in selected programs, but there is no single ticket that unlocks every event. Book foreigner allocations through Creatrip, use Ticketlink only when the listing accepts your account and payment method, and treat ordinary palace admission, the festival pass and reserved experiences as separate products.

The practical choice: pair Gyeongbokgung with Deoksugung on one day, then keep Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung and Jongmyo for a second day. Reserve one priority experience first. Build the rest of the route from programs that do not require a booking.

Which K-Royal Culture Festival tickets should you book first?
Book the experience that would change the trip if you missed it. For most international visitors, that means the English morning tour at Changdeokgung, the Hanbok Royal Banquet at Gyeongbokgung, or the Moonlight Lotus Show reservation at Changgyeonggung.
The official autumn festival announcement says individual reservations opened from noon on September 4. Reservations for the Moonlight Lotus Show and Palace Concert: Ballet x Sujecheon opened on September 11. International allocations are sold through Creatrip; the organizer directs Korean-language bookings to Ticketlink.
Create the relevant account before a release time, but do not assume an old account or a saved card will work. Check the event name, date, palace, language, participant age and cancellation terms on the final booking page. A similarly named night opening or palace tour may be a different product.
What international visitors can reserve
The current organizer announcement identifies three specific foreign-visitor allocations:
- 800 Hanbok Royal Banquet places across October 9 and 10, split as 400 per day;
- an English-only second session of Awakening the Morning Palace on each festival day;
- 300 places for international visitors at the October 6 "Immortal Songs" performance.
Reserved capacity does not mean tickets will remain available. If your preferred date is gone, check the official program page rather than paying an unverified reseller. The palaces still have exhibitions, demonstrations and ordinary visiting options that do not depend on the same ticket.
What is included at each Seoul palace?
The festival is easier to plan by venue than by a long list of performances. Each palace has a different reason to visit.

Gyeongbokgung: choose the banquet or the opening performance
The October 6 KBS performance is a free opening-eve event, but the organizer says applications will be handled separately through the official "Immortal Songs" site. Do not confuse it with ordinary festival admission.
The Hanbok Royal Banquet runs on October 9 and 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Its Royal Stroll is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., alongside court-dress interpretation and demonstrations. This is a staged evening program, not a meal promised to every person who enters in hanbok.
Gyeongbokgung is the western anchor of the festival route. The official Seoul guide places the nearest listed access at Gyeongbokgung Station Exit 5. Deoksugung is the sensible second palace because it keeps the day on the same side of central Seoul.
Changdeokgung: reserve the English morning session
Awakening the Morning Palace runs twice daily from October 7 to 11 and includes palace halls and the Secret Garden. The second session is in English for international visitors. The booking announcement lists a 120-minute experience and a KRW 10,000 participation price.
The craft exhibition Tracing Joseon Space runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. across the main festival dates. The Chogye Munsin Workshop is scheduled once daily at 2:30 p.m. from October 9 to 11.
Changdeokgung's official location page lists Anguk Station Exit 3 and Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 6. It is close enough to Changgyeonggung to combine the two without crossing the city, but the Secret Garden and uneven heritage surfaces can make the morning longer than the map suggests.
Deoksugung: use it for a shorter central visit
From Gwangmu to Yunghui runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and focuses on Emperor Sunjong and the Korean imperial family. It combines a chronological exhibition with guided interpretation and a digital conversation element.
The JunMyeongDang Hall Children's School runs on October 9 to 11 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. It is for children aged 7 to 10, and the organizer says participating children must wear hanbok. That requirement belongs to this program. It does not establish a general dress rule for every child visiting Deoksugung.
City Hall Station Exit 1 is close to the main gate. Deoksugung works well after a Gyeongbokgung morning or as a lower-pressure alternative when a longer east-palace day is unrealistic.
Changgyeonggung: separate daytime history from the night show
A Time Travel, Changgyeonggung Palace is scheduled on October 9 and 10 at noon and 3:30 p.m. It recreates daily court life across several palace locations. The horticulture program Donggowol Jangwonseo runs at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. throughout the festival.
The Moonlight Lotus Show continues beyond the festival, from October 7 to November 1, Wednesday through Sunday. Its reserved Daechundangji Pond scene has sessions at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The reservation controls that scene, not every possible daytime visit to Changgyeonggung.
The palace's official directions place Hyehwa Station Exit 4 about a 12-minute walk away. Changdeokgung is the natural place to combine with it.
Jongmyo Shrine: keep the teenage program distinct
The Jongmyo Shrine Architectural Expedition runs on October 10 and 11 at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The organizer describes it as a mission-based tour for teenage visitors, with activities around Jeongjeon and Yeongnyeongjeon.
Do not add it automatically to a full Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung day. Choose two major reservations, or one reservation plus flexible visiting time. The three sites are geographically close, but timed entry, security, meals and walking still consume the day.
A workable two-day Seoul palace route
Day one: Gyeongbokgung and Deoksugung
Start at Gyeongbokgung. If you have an evening Hanbok Royal Banquet booking, keep the morning light and return with enough time for dress rental, collection and entry. If you do not have a reserved program, use the official timetable to choose one daytime activity rather than waiting for an evening allocation that has sold out.
Move to Deoksugung by subway, bus or a central-city walk chosen in a live map app. Leave a meal break between palaces. Families using the Children's School should plan around its fixed age and clothing requirements instead of treating it as drop-in childcare.
Day two: Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung and possibly Jongmyo
Begin with Awakening the Morning Palace if you hold a reservation. Continue to Changgyeonggung for a daytime program or the evening Moonlight Lotus Show. Add Jongmyo only if its program time fits without cutting short the first two visits.
This grouping reduces cross-city travel, but it is not a promise that every gate or internal path will be open. Recheck each palace page and the festival timetable on the day.
Does wearing hanbok include festival programs?
No. Hanbok can affect ordinary palace admission under the rules in force at a venue, but it does not replace a reservation for a limited festival program. The Children's School also has its own hanbok requirement, and the Hanbok Royal Banquet has a defined foreigner allocation.
This distinction is the source of repeated traveler confusion. A person may enter a palace without gaining access to a guided tour, reserved seat, Secret Garden session or controlled night scene. Read the exact ticket line for the program you want.
If renting hanbok, allow time for fitting, hair accessories, walking and return. Confirm the shop's closing time against the end of your final program. Do not leave a passport as security unless you understand and accept the shop's current policy.
Is the K-Royal Palaces Pass enough?
The pass is useful for ordinary entry across the listed palaces and Jongmyo, but it does not absorb every separately reserved program. The 2026 festival booking notice lists a limited festival pass at KRW 10,000 in advance and KRW 12,000 at the regular price. Check the current listing before payment because the ordinary palace pass and the festival pass have appeared with different prices and inclusions in traveler discussions.
Pay particular attention to the Secret Garden. Changdeokgung's ordinary Royal Palace Pass information excludes it, while Awakening the Morning Palace has its own stated route through the garden. A pass, a palace admission ticket and a named guided experience are not interchangeable.
What if a K-Royal Culture Festival program is sold out?
Do not build the day around an unofficial resale promise. Check the organizer's program page and the named booking platform for returns or additional inventory. If nothing appears, choose a flexible palace visit or a program that does not require advance admission.
A sold-out morning tour does not close Changdeokgung. A sold-out pond session does not cancel every Changgyeonggung visit. The useful fallback is venue-specific:
- at Gyeongbokgung, use daytime exhibitions or a normal palace visit;
- at Changdeokgung, keep the craft exhibition and ordinary grounds separate from the reserved morning tour;
- at Deoksugung, check the daytime imperial-history program;
- at Changgyeonggung, choose daytime living history if the night scene is unavailable;
- at Jongmyo, check ordinary admission and current tour arrangements rather than assuming access from an expired listing.
How palace weather changes the festival plan
Palace programs can change for weather and conservation. During the spring 2026 festival, the organizer cancelled a concert because of forecast rain and restricted parts of the Moonlight Lotus Show when attendance rose. Those spring decisions do not predict October, but they show why the official notice page matters on the day.
Bring a compact rain layer rather than an umbrella that obstructs a seated audience. Wear shoes suited to stone, gravel and thresholds. Autumn evenings can feel cooler after standing outside, especially after an early-morning start.
Do not infer that every route is step-free because one palace lists accessible facilities. Historic gates, courtyards and gardens differ. Contact the palace or festival information line about the exact program, entrance, wheelchair route, companion seating and accessible toilet before booking. If a guided route includes the Secret Garden, ask about slopes and surfaces rather than relying on a general palace access label.

5. Is the Secret Garden included in the palace pass?

6. Can I buy a same-day ticket when an online program sells out?
