KrisFlyer members can claim up to 2GB of free travel data

KrisFlyer members can redeem a complimentary travel eSIM through Pelago until December 31, 2026. Any member can claim 1GB for three days. A member with a future Singapore Airlines or Scoot booking linked to the account can claim 2GB.

Pelago's most recently updated Singapore terms say the 2GB plan also lasts three days and covers 118 countries. Another Pelago benefits page currently displays two days in one line, so travelers should confirm the validity shown on the selected product and voucher before activation.

The traveler answer: this is a useful free arrival allowance for messages, a ride and initial navigation. It is not automatically enough for a full trip. Claim it if eligible, then compare a Roaming eSIM when the itinerary needs more data, longer validity or clearer destination-specific choices.

Who gets 1GB and who gets 2GB

The current Pelago Singapore page separates the benefit into two levels:

• 1GB for three days: available to all KrisFlyer members; and
• 2GB for three days: available when a future Singapore Airlines or Scoot booking is linked to the KrisFlyer account.

The flight-linked tier requires a forward booking. A completed journey or an unlinked reservation does not meet the published wording. Add the booking to the correct KrisFlyer account before trying the redemption.

Both options use the KrisFlyer-exclusive global roaming eSIM listed by Pelago. The terms describe coverage in 118 countries, but that number is not a substitute for the actual country list. Check the destination and any transit country before selecting it.

How to redeem the Pelago eSIM

Pelago gives a five-step route:

1. sign in to Pelago using the KrisFlyer account;
2. open the KrisFlyer-exclusive eSIM page;
3. select the 1GB or eligible 2GB option;
4. enter PELAGOESIM at checkout before payment; and
5. use the Pelago voucher sent by email to set up the eSIM.

The checkout should show a zero price for the eligible product. Stop if a charge remains and confirm the account, linked booking, selected option and code spelling. Do not assume the discount will be refunded later.

Save the voucher and installation instructions offline. The redemption and the eSIM installation are separate steps, and email access may be awkward after leaving reliable Wi-Fi.

The offer runs through December 31, with limits

The current terms say bookings can be made from February 1 through December 31, 2026, using Singapore time. The code is valid up to five uses per customer across the 1GB and 2GB benefits.

Pelago also describes redemptions as limited and reserves the right to change or withdraw the promotion. The December date is therefore the scheduled end, not a promise that inventory remains available until the final minute.

The five-use cap is not five uses for each tier. The updated page says it is a combined limit across both the 1GB and 2GB offers. A traveler with several flights should track prior redemptions rather than assuming every booking creates five more.

Pelago's pages disagree on the 2GB validity

The Singapore campaign page, last updated July 15, says the flight-linked 2GB option is valid for three days. Pelago's dedicated free-eSIM page also says three days. Its general SIA passenger-benefits page currently says two days in the plan-selection line, even though the same page's introductory copy says three days.

This looks like a content inconsistency, not evidence of two separate benefits. We are using the newer campaign-specific terms as the primary record, but the selected checkout and emailed voucher should decide the actual validity.

Take a screenshot before activation if the trip depends on the third day. Contact Pelago when the voucher and product page differ. Do not start a short-validity plan early until the activation instructions explain when its clock begins.

What 1GB or 2GB can realistically cover

One gigabyte can handle a practical arrival if used carefully: messaging, email, maps, a few ride bookings and lightweight browsing. Two gigabytes gives more room for photos, navigation and app updates, but continuous video or laptop tethering can use it quickly.

Before activating:

• download offline maps and airline documents on Wi-Fi;
• pause photo backup and system updates;
• disable mobile data for video-heavy apps;
• check whether hotspot use is allowed on the selected product; and
• keep the phone's data counter visible.

The Pelago campaign page does not publish a network list, hotspot rule, 5G promise, top-up mechanics, calls, SMS or local number for every destination. Treat the product as data-only unless the selected voucher says otherwise.

The top-up offer is separate from the free plan

Pelago lists a 10% discount on eligible eSIM top-ups with code PELESIM10OFF, capped at SGD 3. That offer runs from June 22 through December 31, 2026, requires KrisFlyer login and is limited to one use per user.

The top-up promotion applies to Pelago eSIM products and generally cannot be combined with other Pelago promotions unless stated. It does not mean the original complimentary allowance renews for free.

Compare the discounted top-up with a fresh plan sized for the remaining trip. A small percentage saving can be less useful than longer validity, a better allowance or a network that fits the route.

When Roaming eSIM becomes the better fit

The complimentary Pelago plan has a clear advantage: eligible travelers pay nothing for the initial 1GB or 2GB. Roaming eSIM should not be presented as cheaper than free.

Roaming eSIM's advantage appears when the journey needs more than a short arrival buffer. Public destination pages let travelers compare allowances, validity, speed labels and package-specific features before checkout. They are also independent of KrisFlyer membership and a linked airline booking.

Travelers can use both services if their phone supports enough eSIM profiles and active lines. Label each profile clearly, avoid deleting a profile that cannot be reinstalled, and select the intended line for mobile data.

Travelers beginning or ending in Changi can compare a Singapore Roaming eSIM. A multi-country itinerary may fit the Asia 20 Areas Roaming eSIM, while a journey to Sydney or Melbourne can use an Australia Roaming eSIM.
