LA28 tickets: Drop 2 buying and travel guide

LA28 Ticket Drop 2 opens on August 10 and runs through August 20, 2026. Registration has closed, and selected fans were due to receive a purchase time slot on August 6 or 7. If you have a slot, prepare the account, payment method, session codes, price ceiling and backup sessions before it opens. LA28 says a range of price points across all Olympic sports will be offered, subject to availability.

The harder decision comes after finding an available ticket. Events are spread across Greater Los Angeles and several venues elsewhere in the United States. Two sessions that look compatible on the calendar can be a poor combination when they sit in distant zones. Buy by session and zone as well as sport.

This guide was checked on August 9, 2026 against current LA28 ticket rules, the version 2.1 competition schedule, official travel pages, reporting from the first sale and recurring questions in public Olympic discussions. Final transport and some venue details are still years away, so the guide separates fixed ticket rules from plans that need another check before travel.

LA28 Ticket Drop 2 at a glance

LA28 reported more than four million tickets sold in Drop 1. It said 500,000 were $28 tickets and 95 percent of the available tickets priced under $100 went to Los Angeles and Oklahoma City area residents. Those are results from the first sale. They do not describe the inventory that will remain during your Drop 2 slot.

What to do before your time slot opens

Sign in at the official LA28 ticketing page before the slot, then check the email and phone number on the account. Do not create extra accounts to work around the limit. The ticket terms allow orders to be canceled when a buyer exceeds the maximum or uses multiple accounts to bypass it.

Prepare a shortlist before the queue:

1. Choose dates when you can realistically be in the host city.
2. Record the session code, venue, zone and local start time.
3. Set a total budget that leaves room for travel and accommodation.
4. Pick one preferred session and several backups that you would actually attend.
5. Decide whether the round, sport, ticket category or price matters most.
6. Have the card and its authentication method available.

The official competition schedule PDF lists session codes, venues and times. It is version 2.1 and remains subject to change. LA28 says checkout times use the venue's local time zone. That matters for Oklahoma City and other sessions outside California.

A useful backup changes the sport, round, time or day. Three high-demand finals are one wish repeated three times. Do not infer inventory from a queue screenshot or social post. It may show another time slot, presale or ticket category.

Plan by venue zone before you pay

LA28 currently lists 18 zones in Greater Los Angeles and seven elsewhere in the United States. The official zone guide recommends choosing sessions in the same zone where possible. If you cross zones in one day, it suggests leaving the middle of the day for travel.

Some sports begin before the July 14 opening ceremony. Check the sport schedule instead of using the ceremony date as the first day of the trip.

LA28 has not published final spectator transport. It expects public transport, shuttles and park-and-ride services, with operational details closer to 2028. A current map can help you choose a zone, but it cannot prove a Games-time journey. Flexible accommodation matters when the final route will affect the stay.

Choose accommodation after counting sessions

Count sessions by zone and stay near the zone you will visit most. Protect early starts first because a morning session leaves less room for traffic or a missed connection.

A hotel change can save time on a split itinerary, but it also adds packing, storage and check-in work. One practical base and a lighter daily schedule will often work better than moving every night.

What a late time slot means

A late time slot does not prove Drop 2 will be empty. It also does not guarantee a later release of extra seats. LA28 says further purchase opportunities are planned, but it has not published a restock timetable for August 10 to 20.

Shop when the slot opens, start with the shortlist and stop when the remaining option would force an unwanted date or unaffordable trip. Buying a random session because the queue creates pressure can cost more than waiting for another official opportunity.

Prices, fees and refunds

The $28 price is real, but it does not apply to every sport, round or category. LA28 says Drop 2 covers a range of prices, subject to inventory. The current purchase FAQ says all-in pricing is shown as people shop and the fee breakdown appears at checkout.

Compare the whole trip instead of the ticket price alone. A cheaper session in Oklahoma City may require another flight and hotel. A higher ticket in the zone where you already plan to stay can cost less overall.

All ticket sales are final and non-cancellable. LA28 says a canceled event that is not rescheduled qualifies for a refund. A session moved to another time on the same day does not. Optional Allianz ticket protection is offered after purchase, so read its separate terms before treating it as broad cancellation cover.

Seating categories and seats together

Buyers select a ticket category rather than a specific seat. LA28 assigns the seat closer to Games time. Several tickets bought together are not guaranteed to be consecutive, although the organizer says it will try to keep seats from the same transaction together.

That uncertainty deserves attention when a child, companion or accessibility need makes adjacent seating necessary. Read the current category terms and contact official ticket support before assuming the order will satisfy the group.

LA28 may move a ticket to another seat in the same category or a higher-priced category if the original seat cannot be provided. Keep the ticket account and contact details current so later messages reach you.

Buying for family or friends

LA28 support says eligible tickets can be transferred to named friends or relatives through the official platform. The limit still applies to the purchaser, and a transfer does not create another allowance.

Confirm names and dates before checkout. Decide who will hold the order, monitor changes and manage transfers. Do not promise a transfer until the account shows that the ticket is eligible.

Resale and scam checks

LA28 plans to open a verified resale network in 2027. Until then, it says it cannot verify tickets sold outside that network and advises fans to wait rather than use an unapproved seller.

Use the LA28 platform and its named AXS or Eventim flow. A registration email, queue screenshot or order confirmation does not prove that a stranger can transfer a valid ticket. The official terms restrict eligible transfers to the authorized platform.

International visitors need entry permission too

An LA28 ticket does not guarantee a United States visa or admission at the border. Check the US Department of State visa page for the passport used on the trip before making flights and accommodation nonrefundable.

The Games are nearly two years away. Airline schedules, entry rules and local transport will change. Keep the ticket, flight and hotel in one shared itinerary, then review passport validity and any required authorization again before travel.

Phone, apps and offline preparation

Install the official ticket app named by LA28 when it becomes available. Sign in before leaving the accommodation, confirm that every ticket appears, and add an eligible pass to the phone wallet if the platform supports it.

Save the session code, zone, venue and entrance instructions offline. Download a map for Los Angeles and every separate host city on the itinerary. Give each adult the route and meeting point in case the group separates.

Staying connected during an LA28 trip

A Roaming eSIM does a different job from the LA28 ticket platform. It supplies phone data for account access, maps, transport updates, accommodation messages and group communication away from a venue network. It cannot create ticket availability, guarantee mobile entry or prevent congestion near a busy event.

The public Roaming eSIM catalog returned 37 United States plans when checked on August 9, 2026. It included fixed-data and daily choices, and 34 listings supported an eligible top-up. Check the selected card for its partner networks, start rule, hotspot behavior and current top-up status.

For a United States-only trip, compare the country plan first. A North America or global plan may fit better when the route includes Canada, Mexico or another country. This is more useful than depending on venue WiFi alone because the plan can work at the airport, accommodation and between host locations. It does not extend a venue network or guarantee service during crowd congestion.

Install the Roaming eSIM while reliable WiFi and support access are available, but read the package activation rule first. The installation timing guide separates installation from activation. LA28 ticket questions travelers are asking

I did not receive an email on August 6 or 7. Was I rejected?

LA28 said selected registrants would receive time-slot notifications on those dates. Check spam, the ticket account and official messages. No email is not a reason to buy from an unofficial seller. More official purchase opportunities are planned.

How long is my purchase window?

Use the start, end and duration in your own LA28 email. The organizer does not publish one universal duration for every buyer.

Will anything remain for a late slot?

No public source can guarantee it. Prepare backups and judge only the inventory shown in the official shop.

Will LA28 add more tickets during Drop 2?

LA28 has not published a restock timetable. Do not delay a suitable ticket because a social post predicts more inventory.

Are $28 LA28 tickets still possible?

Drop 2 includes a range of price points subject to availability. A $28 category may not remain for the session visible during your slot.

Should I buy now or wait for verified resale?

Buy when the session, category and total trip cost work. Wait when the only choice creates a trip you do not want. Verified resale is planned for 2027.

Does the 12-ticket limit reset for Drop 2?

No. It is cumulative across Olympic drops and presales. Football has an additional allowance, while ceremony tickets count within the general 12.

Do I need to join as soon as my slot opens?

That gives you the best chance to see the available inventory. Sign in early and follow the queue instructions instead of repeatedly refreshing.

Can I pay with Mastercard or American Express?

LA28 calls Visa the Official Way to Pay. Check the current checkout instructions rather than assuming another card will work.

Can I choose exact seats or guarantee that we sit together?

No. You choose a category, not a seat, and consecutive seating is not guaranteed. LA28 says it will try to keep tickets from one transaction together.

What to recheck before booking the wider trip

The August sale fixes only one part of a 2028 journey. Recheck the session in the official account, its local time, venue zone and current schedule before making the rest of the trip nonrefundable. Final transport, entry procedures and mobile-ticket instructions will follow closer to the Games.

The cleanest purchase is not necessarily the most famous final. It is the session your group can afford, reach and attend without turning the rest of the trip into a chain of risky connections.
