Lufthansa A350-1000 Tokyo: first flight guide

Lufthansa plans to fly its first Airbus A350-1000 passenger service from Munich to Tokyo Haneda on December 3, 2026. The aircraft will have the airline's Allegris cabin and 300 seats across First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

There is one important limit: Lufthansa says the A350-1000 and A350-900 will operate these flights alternately. Booking the Munich to Haneda route therefore does not guarantee the larger aircraft on every date. The airline's announcement also does not give a flight number or departure time, so the issued itinerary and live seat map remain the final checks.

The practical answer: December 3 is the planned first passenger departure from Munich. Look for the A350-1000 in the booking and seat map, but keep plans flexible because Lufthansa also intends to use A350-900s on the route. Do not pay for a particular seat solely on the assumption that the aircraft cannot change.

This guide was reviewed on October 17, 2026, two days after Lufthansa announced the assignment.

What Lufthansa has confirmed

Lufthansa's October 15 announcement sets out the rollout:

First routeMunich to Tokyo Haneda

Aircraft patternA350-1000 and A350-900 operating alternately
Later destinationsShanghai and Singapore in the following weeks

Lufthansa A350-1000 order15 by 2030, with the first 10 for Lufthansa in Munich

The first aircraft is due to arrive in Munich from Airbus in Toulouse in mid-November, before final preparations. The December 3 service is still a future operation. Delivery, certification, maintenance or scheduling changes can alter an inaugural plan, so check the reservation and flight status closer to departure.

Lufthansa has not stated the first Shanghai or Singapore dates in this announcement. It has also not promised that every Munich-Haneda departure after December 3 will use the A350-1000. Treat any more detailed assignment shown by a schedule database as current planning, not a stronger guarantee than the airline's own aircraft-swap warning.

The 300-seat Allegris cabin

The A350-1000 has 300 seats in Lufthansa's published layout:

  • 4 First Class positions, arranged as two single suites and one Suite Plus that can hold one or two passengers;
  • 49 Business Class seats, including 8 suite seats;
  • 35 Premium Economy seats; and
  • 212 Economy seats.

The airline's A350-1000 fleet page shows the same four-cabin seat map. Lufthansa describes several Business seat concepts, wireless charging, 4K entertainment and noise-canceling headphones as aircraft features. It also promotes Starlink-powered onboard Wi-Fi for this fleet.

Those features do not make every seat equivalent. Row numbers, seat categories, proximity to galleys and the number of window or aisle seats can differ from an A350-900. Open the seat map attached to the actual booking rather than using a generic A350 chart from another airline or a different Lufthansa configuration.

Why the aircraft can change

The A350-1000 is being introduced into an operating long-haul fleet, and Lufthansa explicitly plans to alternate it with the A350-900. That makes an equipment change part of the published operating plan, not merely a remote disruption scenario.

Lufthansa's current conditions of carriage say a specific seat or seat category cannot be guaranteed and that seats may be reassigned for operational, safety or security reasons. They also say the paid advance-seat fee is refunded when Lufthansa reassigns the seat for those reasons.

After booking, save the seat receipt and take another look after any schedule-change email. Compare the aircraft type, cabin map and seat category. If Lufthansa moves a paid seat, use the airline's current terms and the booking record when asking about the fee rather than assuming the whole ticket is refundable.

Booking, baggage and Munich connections

The announcement does not publish a route-specific fare, timetable or flight number. Search by Munich, MUC, and Tokyo Haneda, HND, for the intended date, then confirm:

  • the operating carrier and aircraft shown for the long-haul segment;
  • the departure date and local arrival date;
  • the cabin and fare family on every segment;
  • the baggage allowance printed on the ticket; and
  • the time and terminal for any Munich connection.

Lufthansa's baggage guidance says the allowance depends on the class, fare and itinerary and is shown on the ticket or passenger receipt. A feeder flight, codeshare or separate booking can introduce different rules. Do not copy the allowance from an unrelated Lufthansa fare.

For check-in, use Lufthansa's airport-specific deadline tool. A deadline is the latest point by which the boarding pass and checked bag must be accepted, not the recommended time to enter the terminal.

Munich Airport says Terminal 2 has a main building and a satellite linked by an underground train. Passengers arriving from the Schengen area and continuing to Japan usually pass passport control. When connecting flights share one booking number, the airport says checked baggage is transferred automatically. With separate tickets or bags that are not checked through, leave time to collect, recheck and clear the required controls.

Haneda arrival and onward travel

Haneda's international arrival guide directs arriving passengers through immigration, checked-baggage collection and customs before the arrival lobby. If the trip continues on a domestic flight, that first entry into Japan still requires collecting the bag for customs and following the airline's recheck instructions.

Connection time cannot be predicted from one traveler's queue report. It changes with arrival traffic, staffing, immigration eligibility, baggage delivery and the terminal of the onward flight. A protected through ticket gives the operating airlines responsibility for the sold connection. Two separate tickets leave the passenger carrying much more of the delay and missed-flight risk.

Entry rules depend on nationality and purpose. Check Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs short-stay visa exemption list for the traveler's passport. Japan's Digital Agency provides Visit Japan Web for arrival procedures. Save essential booking and entry details offline rather than relying on airport reception at the exact moment they are needed.

Mobile data for Munich and Tokyo

OpenSim's live catalog includes Germany eSIM plans and Japan eSIM plans. A Germany plan can cover time in Munich before departure or during a stopover. A Japan plan is the direct fit for maps, rail information and messages after arrival at Haneda.

Compare the selected package's data allowance, validity, supported networks, speed behavior, hotspot terms and top-up eligibility before paying. A plan being available for a country does not mean every package is reloadable. Daily plans can also have a high-speed allowance followed by reduced-speed service until the next refresh, as stated on the individual card.

An eSIM uses supported mobile networks on the ground. It does not provide Lufthansa's inflight Wi-Fi and cannot preserve a seat or connection when the aircraft changes. Before purchase, check whether the phone supports eSIM and use the travel data calculator to estimate likely use.

Travelers planning Lufthansa's separate 2027 Frankfurt services can use the Nagoya and Narita route guide. That article owns those route and schedule details; this guide covers the A350-1000 launch from Munich to Haneda.

Ten questions about Lufthansa's A350-1000 Tokyo flight

When is Lufthansa's first A350-1000 passenger flight?

Lufthansa plans the first passenger departure for December 3, 2026, from Munich to Tokyo Haneda. It remains a future operation, so check the booking and flight status before travel.

Is every Munich to Haneda flight getting the A350-1000?

No. Lufthansa says the A350-1000 and A350-900 will operate alternately. The route and date alone do not guarantee the larger model.

Has Lufthansa published the flight number and departure time?

Not in the October 15 announcement. Use the booking result and issued itinerary for the flight number, local times and arrival date rather than adding details from an unofficial schedule to a fixed plan.

Does the A350-1000 have Allegris in every cabin?

Lufthansa says all of the announced flights will feature Allegris. Its A350-1000 fleet page presents the four-cabin configuration as First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

How many seats are on Lufthansa's A350-1000?

The published layout has 300 seats: 4 First positions, 49 Business seats, 35 Premium Economy seats and 212 Economy seats. The First count includes a Suite Plus that can accommodate one or two passengers.

What happens to a paid seat if Lufthansa changes the aircraft?

Recheck the new seat and category. Lufthansa's current conditions say seats may be reassigned for operational reasons and that it refunds the paid advance-seat fee when it makes such a reassignment. Keep the receipt and contact the airline if the record does not update correctly.

Will Shanghai and Singapore start on December 3 too?

Lufthansa only says those destinations will be added in the following weeks. It does not give their first operating dates in this announcement.

Is a Munich connection easier on one ticket?

A single booking gives the airline visibility over the connection and normally allows through-checked baggage when the itinerary supports it. Separate tickets can require baggage collection and recheck and give less protection if the first flight is late.

Do I collect checked baggage when connecting domestically at Haneda?

On arrival into Japan, Haneda directs passengers through immigration, baggage claim and customs. Follow the onward airline's instructions for rechecking the bag and changing terminals; do not assume it moves untouched to a domestic flight.

Does the A350-1000's Wi-Fi replace a Japan eSIM?

No. Onboard Wi-Fi covers the aircraft service where available. A Japan eSIM is for supported ground networks after landing. Check the live package terms and phone compatibility separately.

Before the first A350-1000 departure

The first passenger flight is planned, not completed. Recheck the aircraft and seat map after any schedule notice and again at check-in. Confirm the live terminal, baggage allowance, entry documents and onward-connection process from the airline and airport sources.

This page should be updated after the first service operates and whenever Lufthansa materially changes the start date, route pattern, aircraft mix, cabin layout, timetable or later A350-1000 destinations.
