MSIG adds up to 1GB of free JetFi data to its September flash sale

MSIG Singapore's TravelEasy Flex flash sale runs from September 7 through September 10, 2026. An accepted online policy includes a complimentary JetFi eSIM with either 500MB or 1GB, depending on the destination, plus conditional airport lounge access.

Only new JetFi users qualify for the eSIM. The benefit is described as "up to 1GB" because the destination also determines the allowance and validity. It is not a universal 1GB plan for every country.

The traveler answer: buy the insurance for its cover, price and exclusions, not just the data gift. If the policy fits, the JetFi allowance is a useful extra. Roaming eSIM is the stronger standalone choice when you need to select the data and validity without changing insurance or meeting a new-user rule.

The current flash sale ends September 10

MSIG's September 7 terms apply when a TravelEasy Flex policy is bought online during the four-day window and both the application and premium payment are accepted.

The eSIM is only for new JetFi users

The current terms name JetFi Technology as the supplier and limit the complimentary profile to new JetFi users. Redemption requires the JetFi mobile app, a valid account and an eSIM-compatible device.

Each JetFi account can redeem one complimentary promotional code. Opening another policy does not establish another code for the same account. The terms also say this MSIG benefit may differ from JetFi's other promotions.

The gift email is scheduled within one working day after the policy application succeeds. Use an email address you can access and check spam before contacting MSIG. The terms say expired, misplaced or undelivered gifts are not automatically replaced.

The destination decides whether you get 500MB or 1GB

MSIG does not promise the same allowance everywhere. The destination table on JetFi's MSIG page decides whether the included package contains 500MB or 1GB and how long it remains valid.

Check that table before relying on the headline. Also verify:

• every country on a multi-stop itinerary;
• when the validity clock begins;
• whether hotspot use is permitted;
• whether the plan includes calls, SMS or a number;
• what happens after the allowance is exhausted; and
• whether the profile can accept paid data later.

Family and group policies receive different gift counts

MSIG's gift rule is based on the cover type, not simply the number of travelers.

• Group cover: each insured person can receive one gift, up to 20 gifts.
• Adult and children or family cover: one gift per policy, regardless of the number insured.
• Corporate clients: no gift under this promotion.

This means a family policy covering four people does not automatically generate four JetFi codes. Decide which compatible phone should receive the included profile, then arrange data for the other travelers separately.

The lounge benefit is not automatic entry

The same gift contains an airport lounge redemption code, but access depends on a qualifying delay. The traveler must register the flight at least 24 hours before scheduled departure. The airline then needs to report a delay longer than 90 minutes to FlightStats.

Lounge capacity still applies. A widespread disruption can fill participating lounges even after a pass is issued. Keep the eSIM and lounge conditions separate: receiving data does not mean immediate lounge entry.

Cancellation can reduce the insurance refund

The eSIM and lounge code are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. MSIG also says the promotion does not combine with other discounts or privileges unless it states otherwise, and it excludes existing TravelEasy Flex policies.

If the policy is cancelled, MSIG can recover the gift value from any premium refund. A minimum retained premium of S$50 applies, and a refund is available only when no claim has been made. Do not treat buying and cancelling as a route to a free data plan.

Changes to a Single Trip policy can also create an extra premium, subject to a S$10 net minimum. The original promotional discount remains, but a change that lowers the premium does not produce a refund under the campaign terms.

MSIG JetFi benefit or Roaming eSIM

The JetFi benefit wins when the TravelEasy Flex policy is already the right insurance and the included destination package covers the first part of the journey. It adds no separate eSIM purchase price.

Roaming eSIM is better when connectivity needs to stand on its own. Travelers can compare destination and regional packages before buying, see the allowance and validity, check speed and operator fields when supplied, and identify whether a selected package supports top-ups. The choice is not restricted to new JetFi users or tied to an insurance acceptance date.

The two can coexist on a compatible phone. Label each profile clearly and select only one travel line for mobile data at a time. Keep the home SIM's data roaming off unless its own plan includes the destination.
