Orange Travel cuts selected eSIM plans by up to 80% through August 31

August 8, 2026. Orange Travel is discounting selected travel eSIM plans in more than 60 destinations through August 31. The company published its sale announcement on July 22, although it says the reduced prices began on July 1.

The largest advertised reduction is 80%. That headline applies to selected offers, not every plan on the site. Live destination pages show the package allowance, validity, original price and current sale price, so the practical job is to compare the exact card rather than shop by percentage alone.

The traveler verdict: Orange has several unusually low August prices and is the honest winner for some matching trips. Roaming eSIM remains the better fit when you need a very small allowance, a longer-validity option, or a clear country-versus-region comparison that will still be available after the sale ends.

Which Orange Travel eSIM destinations are discounted?

Orange's sale announcement divides the promotion into four main discount groups.

The release says the sale covers more than 60 destinations worldwide. Its 50% and 40% lists are examples, not complete inventories. It also says eligible products can include data-only plans, packages with data, calls and texts, and selected unlimited offers.

That wording matters. A destination being in the promotion does not mean every allowance, duration or plan type receives the same reduction.

These examples were visible on Orange Travel's live English-language destination pages during our August 8 check. They are a snapshot, not a promise that inventory or checkout prices will remain unchanged.

Orange also showed lower and higher allowances on those pages. For example, the South Korea page listed a 1GB, seven-day data plan at EUR 1.06 and a one-day unlimited option at EUR 3.11. The Switzerland page listed 1GB for seven days at EUR 1.06, while Thailand started its displayed fixed-data choices at 3GB for seven days at EUR 1.06.

The crossed-out and sale prices do not always produce a perfectly round percentage because of price changes and rounding. Use the amount charged at checkout, not a calculation based on the marketing headline. Currency selection, taxes or payment conversion can also change the final total.

Does every 80% destination have the same plan?

No. The country pages differ in allowance, validity, network list and available plan types.

Orange's South Korea page named KT, LG Uplus and SK Telecom networks. Switzerland named Salt, Sunrise and Swisscom. Thailand named AWN, National Telecom, TrueMove and dtac TriNet. Cuba listed Etecsa.

Those network lists help with pre-purchase research, but they do not guarantee the same signal, speed or capacity in every place. A South Korea city trip and a rural Thailand itinerary are different coverage questions even when both plans carry the same 80% headline.

Are calls, texts and a phone number included?

Only if the selected Orange Travel package says so. The company sells both data-only and data, calls and SMS options, but they are not interchangeable.

A data-only plan supports internet calling through apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime or Signal. It does not create ordinary carrier minutes or texts. A calls-and-texts package may include an Orange Travel number and a defined minute or message allowance, but the exact number, calling zone and receiving-call rules belong to that package.

Orange's calls and texts support page says receiving a call can consume plan minutes when the traveler is outside the European zone. Receiving a text does not consume the text allowance. Check the destination and calling scope instead of assuming a European voice bundle works worldwide.

If keeping the home number matters, leave the usual SIM enabled only for the services you need and select the travel eSIM for mobile data. What Orange says about unlimited data and hotspot use

Orange advertises full-speed unlimited options in destinations where they are available. Its hotspot support page also says tethering is allowed without a separate hotspot-use limit.

That does not make every sale card unlimited. Fixed plans still stop at their stated data allowance, and every plan has a validity period. Hotspot use draws from the selected allowance, so a laptop can use a 20GB plan much faster than a phone used mainly for maps and messages.

Match the plan type to the trip. A one-day unlimited option can make sense for a heavy workday. A fixed allowance may be more predictable for a week of navigation and messaging. Use the travel data calculator before paying for a larger package solely because its discount looks bigger.

Install before departure, but do not delete the profile

Orange's installation and activation guidance recommends buying before travel and installing the eSIM in the home country with a stable internet connection. It says activation should happen at the destination when data roaming is turned on for the Orange Travel line.

The QR code is the important limitation. Orange's one-device policy says it is valid for one installation on one device. Once scanned and activated, the profile cannot be moved to another phone or installed on a second device. The support instructions also warn travelers not to delete the eSIM if it fails to connect because it cannot simply be downloaded again.

Before purchase:

• confirm the phone is unlocked and eSIM compatible;
• make sure an eSIM slot is available;
• install on the phone you will actually carry;
• save the order details and support link offline; and
• keep automatic mobile-data switching off after setup.

The sale announcement does not give a special activation deadline for discounted purchases. Do not assume a plan bought on August 31 can be stored indefinitely for a later trip. Refunds and top-ups are separate decisions

Orange's refund guidance says a refund can be requested when the eSIM has not been activated or used, when the device is incompatible, when the trip changes, or when a technical problem prevents service. It verifies non-use and says approved refunds normally take 5 to 15 working days.

The top-up instructions permit online or in-app purchases. Multiple top-ups cannot be used at the same time. A top-up is not automatically part of the summer promotion, so review its current price and validity separately rather than assuming the original discount carries forward.

Orange Travel sale versus Roaming eSIM

Orange wins the direct price comparison for the three matching 20GB examples below. The currencies differ, but EUR 3.49 or EUR 4.99 is clearly below the Roaming eSIM USD 16.40 retail snapshot even before conversion. A final checkout comparison is still necessary.

The live Roaming eSIM catalog check at 05:35 UTC returned 19 Switzerland plans, 34 Thailand plans and 33 South Korea plans. It returned no Cuba plan. Package availability can change, so the current card remains the source of truth.

🏆 Roaming eSIM wins for low-use and longer-validity choice: the checked catalog offered 100MB and 500MB seven-day options in Switzerland, Thailand and South Korea. Switzerland also had a 50GB, 180-day fixed plan. Those are better fits when the Orange sale bundle is still more data than the trip needs or expires too soon.
