The 2026 Presidents Cup is at Medinah Country Club in Illinois from Tuesday, September 22 to Sunday, September 27. Practice days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Presidents Cup 2026 schedule at a glance

The official schedule says play is expected to end around sunset on competition days. It also says the format, gate times and tee times remain subject to change. Sunday closing ceremonies begin after the last putt rather than at a fixed time.

Pick a Presidents Cup day by what you want to see

Tuesday or Wednesday is the easiest introduction. Cameras with a lens shorter than six inches are allowed without a case on practice days, the whole course is available to explore, and a smaller number of competitive moments reduces pressure to chase every group. The trade-off is uncertainty: the event has not published team practice times yet.

Thursday and Friday each have one match session. That makes either day easier to follow than Saturday, while still giving the crowd a full competition atmosphere. Thursday includes the opening ceremony 30 minutes before the first tee time. Friday starts later and may suit a visitor arriving from downtown or the airport that morning, although a flight delay can still ruin a same-day plan.

Saturday has morning and afternoon sessions. Gates open at 6:30am and the first group is due at 7:02am. It offers the most golf but also requires the earliest departure and a full day outside. Sunday puts 12 singles matches on the course, so there is more action spread through the field. It is the right choice if the final result matters more than seeing the course at a relaxed pace.

How do Presidents Cup tickets work?

Grounds tickets cover the course and public venues. Buy through the official Presidents Cup ticket page or its verified Ticketmaster resale route. The event says it is not responsible for purchases through other websites or channels.

Tickets are mobile. The ticket management guide directs spectators to the PGA TOUR app, where tickets appear under Schedule and Tickets or under My Profile and My Tickets. The final credential sits in the connected Ticketmaster account.

Complete these steps before leaving the hotel:

1. Install or update the PGA TOUR app.
2. Sign in with the Ticketmaster account used for the order.
3. Open the correct Presidents Cup date.
4. Transfer tickets before the group separates if the account permits it.
5. Download the ticket and any parking pass while the connection is stable.
6. Save the order number and ticket-support details separately.

Do not assume a screenshot is a valid replacement for the live credential. The official instructions direct entry through the app or Ticketmaster account. If a third-party seller has not transferred a ticket into your account, contact that seller before travelling to Medinah.

Youth tickets

The official FAQ allows two children aged 15 or younger to enter the grounds free with each ticketed adult. No advance registration is required. Hospitality has different rules: some venues require a separate ticket for children older than six, and the 1924 Club requires a ticket at every age.

Metra, parking or rideshare: which route is better?

Medinah is outside central Chicago. Treat transport as part of the ticket rather than deciding at the gate. The event has published four practical approaches.

Metra from downtown Chicago

Take the Milwaukee District West line from Chicago Union Station to Medinah Station. The event says a complimentary shuttle will run from the station area to the west entrance Tuesday through Sunday. Check Metra's current schedule for both directions and save the last workable return before entering the course.

Do not confuse the Medinah stop with a direct airport rail service. A visitor arriving at O'Hare or Midway still needs a separate route to a suitable Metra station, a hotel or the official rideshare point. Use the live planner for the full journey rather than joining two map lines by eye.

Official parking lots

Parking starts at USD 17 plus taxes and fees. Passes must be reserved in advance and are not sold on site. All three lots operate Tuesday through Sunday:

• Black Lot: 225 Windsor Avenue, Itasca.
• Green Lot: 425 Fawell Boulevard, Glen Ellyn.
• Red Lot: 251 North Martingale Road, Schaumburg.

The event publishes shuttle rides of 10 to 20 minutes from these lots to the west entrance. That estimate does not include the drive to the lot, security, a shuttle queue or the walk inside the course. Download the digital pass before reaching the turn-in lane.

Rideshare and drop-off

The designated rideshare, spectator drop-off and pickup point is Eaglewood Resort & Spa at 1401 Nordic Road. The event describes it as walking distance from the east entrance. Use that named point in the app. A pin at Medinah Country Club itself may send the driver toward a restricted road or a gate that does not accept public vehicles.

At the end of play, expect a wait before a driver reaches the lot. Set a meeting point, keep enough battery for the request and do not leave the published pedestrian route in search of a cheaper pickup.

Can you visit on a long airport layover?

A day trip from O'Hare is possible only with a large margin, a confirmed ticket and no checked luggage to store. The official visitor page describes DuPage County as close to O'Hare, but the tournament does not publish an airport shuttle or a guaranteed airport-to-gate journey time.

Before committing, count backward from the next flight's airline check-in deadline. Include immigration if applicable, bag collection, road traffic, the walk or event shuttle, security screening, time on the course, the return journey and airport security. A map estimate between O'Hare and Medinah is not the total trip.

The bag policy is another obstacle. The tournament may not provide bag check, and oversize items must be returned before boarding a shuttle or entering. Leave suitcases at an airport, hotel or staffed storage service whose terms you have checked. Do not arrive at Eaglewood or an official parking lot with cabin luggage and expect the event to hold it.

Should you follow one match or stay at one hole?

Match play concentrates attention around fewer groups than a normal stroke-play tournament. Following one match gives you its full story, but galleries can thicken around popular players and sightlines change at every hole. A fixed position lets several matches come to you and saves walking, but some matches may finish before reaching a late hole.

A useful first-day plan is:

1. Walk part of the course before the first tee time.
2. Follow one early match for three or four holes.
3. Move to a public viewing area or a green where several matches should pass.
4. Recheck the live match status before moving to a late hole.

The event says fewer than 40 percent of past Presidents Cup matches reached the 17th hole. Medinah's 2026 routing was changed so the familiar club holes play in a different tournament sequence. Do not choose a base from an old Ryder Cup map or assume every match will reach the closing stretch.

Wear shoes for a long day on grass, slopes and temporary surfaces. A portable chair can help if it meets the policy, but it must not have a carrying bag and must leave the course each night.

Presidents Cup 2026 bag and entry rules

Every person and item is screened. The official policy allows:

• an opaque personal bag no larger than 6 by 6 inches;
• a clear plastic, vinyl or similar bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches;
• a one-gallon clear resealable plastic bag;
• an empty reusable plastic or metal bottle no larger than 32 ounces;
• an umbrella without a sleeve;
• a collapsible chair without a chair bag;
• binoculars without a case; and

Food may be admitted at the tournament's discretion in a clear resealable bag no larger than one gallon. That is not a general promise that every meal or cooler can enter. The safest approach is to carry only what the published list permits and contact ticket support before the event if dietary or medical needs require something else.

The event warns that bag check may not be available. A refused item may have to go back to a vehicle before you board a parking shuttle or enter. That is a serious delay for a visitor who arrived by Metra or rideshare, because there may be no nearby vehicle.

Standalone cameras with lenses shorter than six inches and no case are permitted on practice days only. The ticket terms prohibit standalone photo or video cameras on competition days. A phone camera follows the separate mobile-device policy.

Can you use your phone on the course?

Yes. Keep it silent and turn off the flash. The PGA TOUR mobile-device policy permits personal photos, video and audio throughout tournament week, including competition areas. It also permits texting and data use throughout the grounds.

The limits are specific:

• no live streaming;
• no live or near-live shot-by-shot or hole-by-hole coverage;
• no commercial use of captured material;
• calls only in designated areas; and
• no interference with players, caddies or media.

Download the ticket and route before arrival even if you have mobile data. Tens of thousands of spectators are expected each day, and the organizer does not promise that a particular carrier will perform the same everywhere on the 7,564-yard course.

Bringing children and planning for course conditions

The event has announced a climate-controlled Family Care Suite, but its course location was still to be determined when this guide was reviewed. Four first-aid stations, a central first-aid headquarters and 12 sunscreen dispensers are also planned. These facilities help, but they do not turn a long outdoor golf day into a short seated event.

For children, choose a realistic block of play rather than treating the gate-to-sunset schedule as mandatory. Practice days allow more movement and less pressure to keep up with a match. A stroller is on the permitted list and is subject to search. Bring infant supplies in a small diaper bag, and check the final course map for the Family Care Suite before arrival.

September weather in northern Illinois can shift within a day. Check the live forecast and event notices before choosing rainwear, sun protection or layers. Umbrellas can enter without sleeves, while the official list allows empty bottles up to 32 ounces. The venue has confirmed sunscreen dispensers, but a visitor should still arrive prepared rather than depend on finding one immediately.

Mobility aids used by a person with a mobility impairment are permitted. The public event pages reviewed for this guide did not yet give a detailed accessible shuttle route, accessible viewing map or terrain-by-terrain plan. Also save the parking-pass barcode, a group meeting point, ticket support number and the address of the correct lot. If the group splits on the course, agree on a time and landmark rather than relying on a phone call that must be taken in a designated area.
