Rock in Rio 2026 guide: lineup, transport and entry

Rock in Rio Brasil 2026 takes over Cidade do Rock on September 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13. The festival is at Parque Olimpico in Barra da Tijuca, west of central Rio de Janeiro. Doors open at 14:00, the site closes at 03:00, and the last admission is at midnight.

The hard part is getting three digital pieces ready before the crowd gets dense: the festival ticket in Quentro, the BRT Express ticket in Jaé, and the return route from Jardim Oceanico to the accommodation. They are separate systems. A Ticketmaster order confirmation is not the gate ticket, and a BRT purchase does not cover the metro fare.

The short answer: activate the festival ticket in Quentro while you have a reliable connection, buy the date-specific BRT Express ticket in Jaé if that is your route, and collect the return wristband when the BRT QR is validated on arrival. Save the accommodation address and final metro connection offline. The Quentro ticket keeps rotating offline after it has been loaded, but a screenshot will not get you through the gate.

This guide was checked on August 30, 2026 against the organizer, Ticketmaster, Rio City Hall, TIM and current festival coverage. Live ticket inventory, set times, weather, app features and mobile offers can change. Use the official festival app and ticket account for the final event check, and pass TIM's in-app eligibility test before depending on its trial.

Seven festival days do not mean seven versions of the same bill. The table below shows the announced Palco Mundo acts in published running order, with the headliner first. Use the official Rock in Rio app and schedule for stage times and any late change.

The complete programme spans Palco Mundo, Sunset, New Dance Order, Espaco Favela, Supernova and Global Village. A list of every act is less useful than a personal schedule with three priorities and realistic walking time. Put the acts that cannot be missed into the official app, then choose a meeting point that does not depend on finding someone in the moving crowd.

Activate the Quentro ticket before traveling to the venue

Rock in Rio uses Quentro as the only accepted gate-ticket app. The Ticketmaster order must be linked to the same email address used in Quentro. Printed tickets and screenshots are rejected because the app displays a rotating QR code.

The first access to the ticket requires an internet connection. Once the ticket has been opened and stored in Quentro, the rotating code continues to work without an active connection. That is useful protection against a weak signal at the entrance, but it only helps if the ticket was loaded before arrival.

Use this order:

1. Install Quentro from the official app store.
2. Sign in with the email used for the Ticketmaster order.
3. Open the ticket and confirm the correct date and holder details.
4. Update the phone, charge it, and open Quentro again before leaving the accommodation.
5. Keep the Ticketmaster confirmation available for support, but present the live Quentro ticket at the gate.

If a ticket is transferred, check the consequences before confirming. The organizer says a completed transfer cannot be canceled by the sender. The recipient cannot send it to another person; the only return path is back to the original owner.

Comfort Zone tickets add another step. The holder must complete the requested personal information and facial biometric process, then collect the entry wristband at the Welcome Center between 14:00 and midnight.

Match the BRT route to your side of Rio

Rio's special festival transport is the BRT Expresso Rock in Rio. It costs R$29 for the return service and is sold only through the Jaé app. The purchase uses the app's Transport Account balance, which Rio City Hall says can be topped up with Pix or credit card. One account can buy up to ten tickets for each festival date.

The BRT QR appears in Jaé one week before the selected date. It is valid for that date only. When the QR is validated on arrival, staff issue the individual wristband used for the return bus. Put it on and keep it on. The ticket in Jaé and the return wristband solve different parts of the journey.

The official Rio transport plan is the authority for the special services. Do not route through Vicente de Carvalho expecting a direct festival BRT connection. The published integration is at Jardim Oceanico.

Metro plus BRT from the South Zone

Lines 1 and 4 serve Jardim Oceanico from the South Zone and central corridor. Line 2 operates between Pavuna and Botafogo under the published festival plan, with transfer on the shared section between Central and Botafogo. Check the live MetrôRio planner because the route can differ by time and day.

Jardim Oceanico remains open 24 hours for boarding and exit on festival days. Other metro stations follow their normal hours for boarding, then remain open overnight for passengers leaving the system. In practical terms, a late return can enter the metro at Jardim Oceanico, but should not depend on entering at another station after its normal boarding cutoff.

The published combined return cost is R$44.80: R$29 for the special BRT and R$15.80 for two R$7.90 metro trips. The BRT ticket does not include the metro. Jaé, Riocard and contactless payment are listed for the metro, but a foreign card should not be the only payment plan.

Nearby BRT stations do not all stay open late

Normal proximity is not the same as festival access. Rio City Hall lists these special hours around the Olympic Park:

• Rio 2: 05:00 to 22:00
• Parque Olimpico: 06:00 to 10:00
• Pedro Correa: 05:00 to 00:00
• Rede Sarah: 24 hours

Use the special service and official walking route instead of choosing whichever station looks closest on a map. Traffic controls and pedestrian barriers can make an ordinary map pin misleading.

Plan the journey home before the first show

The site closes at 03:00, so the return is part of the ticket-day plan. Save the first vehicle, every transfer and the final walk or pickup.

For metro plus BRT, the chain is:

1. Leave enough time to follow the signed route to the correct special BRT stop.
2. Show the return wristband received on arrival.
3. Take the special service to Jardim Oceanico.
4. Enter the metro there during the overnight operation.
5. Exit at the station serving the accommodation, or use a planned final taxi or ride-hail pickup from a sensible station.

For the Alvorada or Paulo da Portela routes, confirm the final connection from that terminal before entering the festival. A BRT service reaching its terminal does not guarantee that every normal local route will still be running.

Primeira Classe is separate from BRT Express. The published service has 20 pickup points in Rio and Greater Rio plus 18 origins outside the city. Outbound departures are listed from 11:00 to 19:00, with returns beginning at 22:00. The exact pickup, departure window and return instructions belong to that Ticketmaster booking.

Avoid booking a flight or long-distance bus soon after the final act. The published transport operation keeps routes open, but it does not remove the exit walk, security controls, queues or transfer time.

What you can bring through the Rock in Rio gate

The current rules permit a small set of practical items. The published examples include:

• One transparent plastic water bottle up to 500 ml, with its cap
• A phone-sized portable power bank
• A raincoat, wrap or light coat
• Sunglasses and sunscreen up to 100 ml
• A portable camera without professional equipment
• Up to five food items per person under the packaging rules

Industrial food should be sealed in its original packaging. Cut fruit and sandwiches should be in transparent, flexible bags. Staff make the final decision at inspection, so keep the pack simple and check the official FAQ again before leaving.

The reviewed official material did not provide a numerical maximum for an ordinary backpack. Do not buy a bag based on an unsourced measurement. Carry the smallest practical soft bag and avoid anything that could be treated as luggage, a weapon, glass, an aerosol or professional recording equipment.

The ticket is valid for one admission. Once it is scanned, leaving means giving up the rest of that day's access. Bring permitted medication and weather protection with you instead of planning a trip back to the hotel.

Lockers can solve the bag and battery problem

Festival lockers are available in several sizes, including published options that can hold a carry-on case or two backpacks. Reservations remain available until 24 hours before the selected date while inventory lasts; limited units may be sold on site.

The locker QR arrives by email or SMS. Unlike the Quentro event ticket, the locker instructions say a screenshot can be saved for access. Keep the two codes clearly labeled so the wrong screenshot is not shown at the festival gate.

USB and USB-C power are listed inside the lockers, but the visitor must bring the cable. The locker area stays open from doors until one hour after the festival closes. Do not leave the return wristband, essential medication or the only working phone inside while moving around the site.

Minors, accessibility and medical items

The event is rated 16. A visitor under 16 can attend with a parent or with an adult aged 18 or over under the organizer's document procedure. That includes the responsibility form and a copy of the parent or legal guardian's identification. The organizer also reports official advice that children under five should not remain at the event after 22:00.

For accessibility, the festival lists adapted toilets, tactile maps and routes, audio description, Brazilian Sign Language interpretation, Sinta o Som, sensory support and a medical-item process. Manual and motorized wheelchairs may be available, but supply is limited. Anyone who depends on one should bring their own.

Visitors carrying medically required food or medicine should follow the accessibility procedure and bring the requested report or prescription with CID information plus photo identification. The Central de Acessibilidade has published refrigeration support for eligible items.

Read the current accessibility section rather than assuming a service applies to every stage or can be requested at the last minute. Save the relevant form and contact route before the festival day.

Install the useful Rio apps before leaving Wi-Fi

• Quentro: the only accepted Rock in Rio gate ticket. Load the ticket before travel.
• Jaé: required to buy and display BRT Expresso Rock in Rio tickets.
• Rock in Rio app: published schedule and personal agenda, with the organizer announcing map, service and other event features.
• MetrôRio: live metro service and route checks.
• Google Maps or Apple Maps: save the accommodation, Jardim Oceanico, the chosen BRT origin and a backup pickup point.
• Alerta Rio or INMET: check current official weather information close to the date.

Save the hotel address in Portuguese, the Quentro support route, BRT receipt, Jaé QR when released, accommodation station, final connection and a group meeting point. A screenshot is a useful backup for maps and locker codes. It is not a substitute for the live Quentro ticket.

Mobile data at Rock in Rio

Mobile data helps with the first Quentro load, the Jaé purchase, live transport changes, a weather alert and group messages. It cannot guarantee fast service when a large crowd is sharing nearby cells. Prepare the ticket and route offline even with an active plan.

Can visitors use TIM's free 30GB eSIM at Rock in Rio?

TIM plans to hand out guitar picks with a QR code for its Test Drive during Rock in Rio. The live TIM Test Drive page advertises 30GB for up to 30 days through an eSIM, plus unlimited calls and SMS to Brazilian networks. It requires the Meu TIM app, a compatible phone, registration and facial verification. TIM says activation can take about 20 minutes.

The trial is a Brazilian mobile line, not a travel eSIM for another country. TIM's linked rules say the data works in national roaming but not international roaming. The same document blocks tethering to a computer or laptop, does not allow extra data packages and ends mobile data when the 30GB is used. Voice and SMS continue until the 30-day period ends.

There is also a current eligibility mismatch. Rock in Rio coverage says a person must have been without a TIM mobile line for at least three months. The regulation linked from TIM's live page says six months, limits activation to one per CPF and still gives July 31, 2026 as the final signup date. The live promotional page continues to invite signups after that date.

Do not plan the festival around the free trial until the app approves the registration. The linked rules require a CPF, date of birth, contact number, email address and facial verification. An international visitor without a CPF should assume the offer is unavailable unless TIM confirms another registration route.

The trial can be an excellent deal for an eligible Brazilian resident. It costs R$0, includes a local number, and supplies domestic calls and SMS that a data-only travel plan does not. It is less dependable as a visitor's only preparation because the published rules conflict, the app must approve the user, and the festival QR is part of the promotion.
