Ryanair Birmingham winter 2026: five routes explained
Ryanair says its Birmingham winter 2026 programme has five new routes: Copenhagen, Rome Fiumicino, Warsaw Modlin, Marrakesh and Tirana. The useful correction is that only Copenhagen is new to the winter list. Ryanair had already announced the other four for summer 2026, and live route pages show them on sale before the winter season.
The five links are bookable, but they do not share one start date or one weekly pattern. Check the exact outward and return dates before paying, especially when a low-frequency route leaves few alternatives after a cancellation.

The practical answer: Copenhagen is the genuinely new Birmingham winter route. Rome Fiumicino, Warsaw Modlin, Marrakesh and Tirana continue links that Ryanair included in its summer 2026 programme. All five have winter inventory, but times and operating days vary by date.
What Ryanair announced for winter
Ryanair's October 21 announcement says a ninth based aircraft will support 40 Birmingham routes during winter 2026. It names the five destinations and says frequencies also rise on seven existing routes, including Barcelona, Poznan and Budapest.
The airline also advertised a limited sale from Β£29.99. That is a promotional starting price, not a fixed fare for every route or date. The total can change after bags, seats, priority boarding and other extras are selected.
Five routes, but not five first launches
The wording needs context. Ryanair's summer Birmingham announcement already listed Rome Fiumicino, Marrakesh, Tirana and Warsaw Modlin among its new summer links. Copenhagen replaces Agadir in the five-route winter headline.
That does not make the winter programme unimportant. It confirms continued winter availability across the four earlier links and adds Copenhagen. It does mean travelers should avoid assuming that all five begin together after October 25.
| Route | Airport codes | What the live page showed on October 21 | Main booking check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copenhagen | BHX to CPH | Three operating days per week, with a November 16 example leaving at 07:55 | Check the return day before booking a short break. |
| Rome Fiumicino | BHX to FCO | Winter examples from October 30, with some Monday departures at 19:30 | Confirm FCO, not Rome Ciampino. |
| Warsaw Modlin | BHX to WMI | Several weekly departures and October inventory | WMI is not Warsaw Chopin, code WAW. |
| Marrakesh | BHX to RAK | Winter examples including Sunday morning departures | Return flights from Morocco can require an airport document check. |
| Tirana | BHX to TIA | October and later winter inventory, with one flight on each operating day | Check the airport boarding-pass instruction before returning. |
These are dated examples, not permanent timetables. Ryanair can change the operating day, departure time, aircraft or seasonal end without changing the route name.
Check the airport, not just the city
The Warsaw route uses Modlin Airport, code WMI. Warsaw Chopin is WAW. Modlin is outside central Warsaw, so a fare comparison should include the coach, taxi or bus-and-train journey from the correct airport.
Rome uses Fiumicino, code FCO, rather than Ciampino. Copenhagen uses CPH, Marrakesh uses RAK and Tirana uses TIA. Save the airport code with the itinerary because a city name alone is not enough for ground transport or an early return flight.
Low frequency changes the risk
A three-day weekly pattern can work well for a planned city break, but it reduces the number of same-route recovery choices. Search the complete round trip before committing to a hotel, event or separate onward ticket.
If Ryanair cancels a flight, use the airline's disruption flow before buying a replacement that you expect it to reimburse. Refund, rerouting and later travel are different choices. A hotel, rail ticket or separate airline booking remains a separate contract unless its own terms say otherwise.
Bags and check-in at Birmingham
Ryanair's current bag rules include one small personal bag with every fare. The published maximum is 40 by 30 by 20 cm. A larger cabin bag or checked bag depends on the option purchased, so the fare label alone does not tell you what can be taken onboard.
Online check-in and airport bag drop are separate tasks. From November 10, 2026, Ryanair says airport check-in and bag drop close 60 minutes before scheduled departure. The deadline is not an arrival recommendation. Leave time for the terminal, bag drop, security and the walk to the gate.
Birmingham Airport is connected by the free Air-Rail Link from Birmingham International station. Check engineering work and the first train before an early departure. A route page's departure time does not guarantee that public transport will reach the terminal comfortably.
Return document checks in Morocco and Albania
Ryanair requires passengers to check in online. Some departure airports also require a document or boarding-pass step at the airport. Public traveler questions repeatedly confuse that extra check with paid airport check-in.
Follow the instruction shown for the specific return flight. If the app says to visit the desk, allow time and keep the travel document used for check-in accessible. Do not rely on another passenger's experience from a different airport or nationality.
Data for the five-route network
OpenSim's Europe and Morocco eSIM currently covers Denmark, Italy, Poland and Morocco in one regional plan. Albania is not in that plan's returned coverage list, so use an Albania eSIM for Tirana or compare another live plan that explicitly includes Albania.
Check the selected package's allowance, validity, speed policy, hotspot terms and top-up eligibility. Not every package is reloadable. An eSIM provides data on supported ground networks; it does not replace airport Wi-Fi, airline notifications or inflight internet.
Ten questions about Ryanair's Birmingham winter routes
Are all five Birmingham routes new in winter 2026?
No. Copenhagen is the new winter addition. Rome Fiumicino, Marrakesh, Tirana and Warsaw Modlin appeared in Ryanair's summer 2026 Birmingham programme and continue into winter.
When does the Birmingham to Copenhagen route start?
Ryanair's live page shows October inventory and three operating days per week. Search your exact date because the displayed sample fare and time can change.
Which Warsaw airport does Ryanair use from Birmingham?
The route uses Warsaw Modlin, code WMI. Do not plan transport from Warsaw Chopin, code WAW, unless the issued itinerary actually names that airport.
Does the Rome flight use Fiumicino or Ciampino?
It uses Rome Fiumicino, code FCO. Check both sectors because airport choice affects the journey to central Rome.
How often do the routes operate?
Frequency varies by route and date. Copenhagen is listed on three days per week, while the other route pages show their own date-specific patterns. Search the outward and return together.
What bag is included in the basic fare?
Ryanair currently includes one small personal bag up to 40 by 30 by 20 cm. Larger cabin bags and checked bags depend on the purchased option.
When does Birmingham bag drop close?
Ryanair says its airport check-in and bag-drop cutoff becomes 60 minutes before departure from November 10, 2026. Arrive earlier because security and the gate deadline still need time.
Do I need a printed boarding pass from Marrakesh or Tirana?
Follow the instruction in the app and booking for that airport. Complete online check-in first, then visit the airport desk when Ryanair requires a document check or printed pass.
What happens if a low-frequency flight is cancelled?
Use Ryanair's official disruption options and compare refund with rerouting before selecting one. A route with only a few weekly departures may require a longer wait or a different routing.
Can one OpenSim plan cover all five destinations?
The live Europe and Morocco plan covers Denmark, Italy, Poland and Morocco, but not Albania. Tirana needs an Albania plan or another package whose current coverage list explicitly includes Albania.
Before booking
- Check the airport codes BHX, CPH, FCO, WMI, RAK or TIA.
- Search the complete return trip, not only the cheapest outbound fare.
- Compare the final price after bags, seats and priority options.
- Leave extra recovery room around separate tickets and fixed events.
- Download the boarding pass and itinerary for offline access.
- Recheck the airport document instruction for the return flight.
- Plan Birmingham transport around the real departure time.
- Confirm the selected eSIM's country list and package terms.
Source record and next review
Ryanair's winter announcement supports the 40-route programme, ninth based aircraft and five named links. Its summer announcement establishes that four of those links were already summer additions. The five live route pages support bookable winter inventory and the airport codes, while Ryanair help pages support the current bag and check-in guidance.
Public discussions were used to identify questions about schedule release, Birmingham bag drop, online check-in, Morocco and Tirana boarding passes and missed connections. They were not used as evidence for airline policy.
OpenSim will review this guide if Ryanair materially changes a route, airport, frequency, seasonal end, bag rule, check-in deadline or document process.
