SIMZY adds calls and SMS to travel eSIM plans

SIMZY has introduced selected travel eSIM plans that combine mobile data with calls and SMS. The launch announcement appeared at the start of September 2026, with country plans for the United States and eight European markets, plus several regional passes.

This is a useful change for travelers who need to call a hotel, restaurant or local contact without relying entirely on an internet calling app. It is not a promise that every SIMZY plan includes a phone number, or that every included number can receive bank codes and call emergency services.

The traveler answer: choose SIMZY's calls-and-texts option only after confirming the supplied number, minute and SMS allowance, incoming-call rules and calling zone for the exact plan. Choose a Roaming eSIM when data is the priority and you want to compare country and regional package fields before checkout.

Which SIMZY eSIM plans now include calls and SMS?

SIMZY's launch announcement names nine country markets: the United States, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Greece and Hungary. It also names Asia, Europe, and Europe and UAE regional passes.

The live United States plan page and Europe plan page now separate Data Only from Data + Calls & Texts. SIMZY's Asia page shows the same choice in its navigation, although the visible plan cards can vary. Travelers should use the destination selector and inspect the actual card instead of assuming that voice is included across the catalog.

There is also a catalog-size discrepancy. The announcement says SIMZY covers more than 220 destinations, while its public home page currently says more than 150. The destination selector is the more useful buying check because a large headline number does not establish that calls and SMS are available for a particular trip.

A SIMZY phone number may not receive every verification text

An eSIM can carry data without supplying a telephone number. SIMZY's new calls-and-texts plans change that for selected products, but the public launch information does not identify the country code or number type for every plan.

That matters for bank messages and two-factor authentication. Some organizations send codes only to domestic mobile numbers or approved carrier ranges. Short-code messages can also follow different routing rules from ordinary person-to-person SMS. A plan that receives a normal text is therefore not automatically guaranteed to receive every bank OTP.

Before paying, ask SIMZY these questions about the exact product:

• What country code will the number use?
• Can it receive incoming SMS without an extra charge?
• Are short-code and bank verification messages supported?
• Does the number remain assigned for the full validity period?
• Can callers outside the destination reach it as an international number?

Check the calling zone before relying on included minutes

"Calls included" is incomplete without a calling zone. A European regional plan might support calls within covered countries, calls to one country, or only domestic calls while connected in a particular market. Incoming calls may also use the allowance.

SIMZY has not published one universal calling matrix for every new plan. Confirm the following before treating the eSIM as a replacement for an internet calling app:

1. whether outgoing calls are included;
2. whether incoming calls consume minutes;
3. which destination countries can be called;
4. whether calls to the traveler's home country are included;
5. whether premium and short numbers are excluded; and
6. whether local emergency numbers are supported.

Do not rely on an unconfirmed travel eSIM for emergency calling. Save the destination's emergency numbers, keep offline travel details and follow local guidance. SIMZY's terms also allow some services, including VoIP, to be blocked or restricted, so app-based calling should not be treated as a guaranteed fallback under every network condition.

SIMZY unlimited plans have published fair-use limits

SIMZY describes seven and 14-day unlimited options as subject to fair use. Its current terms provide useful thresholds:

• a seven or 14-day unlimited plan may be restricted after more than 3 GB in one day;
• a 30-day unlimited plan may be restricted after more than 10 GB in one day; and
• a 30-day unlimited plan may also be restricted after more than 300 GB during the validity period.

An unlimited label therefore does not mean unlimited high-speed data. The terms allow speed or service restrictions after those levels. Travelers using video calls, cloud backups or a laptop hotspot should calculate the likely daily use and confirm whether tethering is permitted on the exact package.

Activation and Auto Renew need attention before departure

SIMZY offers three activation choices: immediate activation, activation on arrival and a scheduled start date. The right option depends on whether validity begins at purchase, installation, the selected date or first network connection for the chosen package.

SIMZY also offers Auto Renew. It can be convenient for a longer stay, but travelers should verify whether it is enabled, which saved payment method will be charged and when cancellation must happen. A seven-day trip should not quietly become a second purchase.

Phone changes and refunds are not automatic

SIMZY requires an unlocked, eSIM-compatible device. Its terms say one profile can be used on one device at a time. A traveler moving the service to another phone must contact support for a new QR code rather than assuming the original code can be scanned again.

SIMZY's terms allow cancellation within 14 days when the plan has not been activated. Activating the service waives that cancellation right. The terms separately describe possible partial or full refunds for qualifying network failures. A change of mind after activation and a service that cannot connect are not the same refund case.

SIMZY or Roaming eSIM: which is the better fit?

The better option depends on whether ordinary calls and texts are essential.

🏆 Roaming eSIM wins for a data-first comparison: its public catalog returned 37 United States packages and 17 Germany packages on September 2, with plan-specific data, validity, network and reloadability fields. SIMZY wins when a selected plan's included calls and SMS match the traveler's exact number and calling requirements.

Roaming eSIM does not need to imitate the new voice bundle to be useful. Many travelers already keep their usual number for personal messages and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or another data-based service for calls. For them, transparent data choices can be more valuable than paying for a voice allowance they may not use.

Roaming eSIM alternatives for the announced markets

For a single-country trip, compare a United States Roaming eSIM or Germany Roaming eSIM and check the current package card for network, validity, top-up eligibility and hotspot terms.

A Global 120 Areas Roaming eSIM is useful only when every required destination appears in its coverage list. A wider label is not automatically better. Compare the actual country mix, trip length and expected data use.

1. Does this exact plan include a phone number? Choose the Data + Calls & Texts option and confirm that a number is assigned.
2. Which country code will I receive? SIMZY does not publish one universal number country for every plan.
3. Are incoming calls included? Check whether they are free, use the minute allowance or incur another charge.
4. Which countries can I call? Confirm the calling zone, including the destination and home country.
5. Will bank OTP messages work? Do not assume so. Ask about short-code and verification-message support.
6. Can I call emergency services? Use local emergency guidance and do not rely on support that SIMZY has not confirmed for the exact destination.
7. Can I keep my usual SIM active? Usually yes on a dual-SIM phone, but disable unwanted data roaming and check the home carrier's call and SMS charges.
8. Does hotspot use work? Confirm the plan-level rule, especially for unlimited packages.
9. When does the plan start and renew? Check the selected activation method, validity and Auto Renew setting.
10. Can I move it to a new phone or obtain a refund? Transfer requires SIMZY support, and the 14-day cancellation right applies only before activation.
