Singapore Arrival Card app update: what changes September 30
Singapore will add its enhanced SG Arrival Card to the updated MyICA app on September 30, 2026. The new mobile form can scan passport details, supports 19 languages and saves profiles for later trips. Travelers can still use ICA's free web form, and the underlying entry rules do not change.
What to do: update MyICA before filing in the app on or after September 30. Submit the SG Arrival Card within three days before arrival, counting the arrival day. Keep the acknowledgment email and physical passport available. If the app is inconvenient, use the official ICA web form instead.
The update is a simpler way to complete the form. It is not a visa, does not replace immigration clearance and does not guarantee entry. ICA announced the change on September 16. This guide was checked on September 20, ten days before the mobile release.
What changes in MyICA on September 30?
The updated app will bring the enhanced form already introduced on ICA's website into MyICA. Seven additional languages raise the total to 19. Passport scanning can prefill document details for foreign visitors, Singapore citizens, permanent residents and Long-Term Pass holders. Eligible residents can also use Singpass.

ICA has not promised that every passport will scan successfully. A damaged document, glare, camera focus or an unsupported device can still require manual entry. Review every prefilled field before submitting. A fast scan is not useful if the passport number or expiry date is wrong.
Is the MyICA app required for Singapore entry?
No. Travelers can submit the SG Arrival Card through the official SGAC web form or the MyICA app. Both official routes are free.
The app is convenient for repeat travel because it can save profiles and prefill information. The web form may be the better choice on a shared computer, when a phone lacks storage, or when an app-store account cannot download MyICA. Use the route that lets you review the information carefully.
Avoid websites that charge a processing fee for the ordinary form. ICA says it does not support or endorse commercial entities that collect a fee for SGAC submission. Start from ICA's SG Arrival Card page and follow its app-store or web links.
Who needs to submit an SG Arrival Card?
Most travelers entering Singapore must submit it. The requirement covers foreign visitors and residents arriving by air or sea, with two main exceptions listed by ICA:
- travelers transiting or transferring without seeking Singapore immigration clearance;
- Singapore citizens, permanent residents and Long-Term Pass holders entering through Woodlands or Tuas land checkpoints.
A foreign visitor entering at a land checkpoint still needs to follow the applicable SGAC rule. The resident exemption at Woodlands and Tuas should not be extended to every traveler.
Children are travelers too. Each person needs the arrival information and travel document required for the trip, even if an adult completes a group submission. The form does not add a child to a parent's passport or visa.
The SG Arrival Card also includes an electronic health declaration. ICA says false declarations can be prosecuted. If health status changes after filing, use the official Update SGAC function rather than leaving an answer that is no longer accurate.
When should you submit the Singapore Arrival Card?
File within three days before arrival, including the arrival day. Count calendar dates in Singapore, not 72 hours from the scheduled landing time.

Filing too early is an avoidable error. Wait until the official window opens, then use the confirmed flight and accommodation details. There is no benefit in submitting weeks ahead through a paid intermediary.
If a delay moves the arrival to a different date, check the submitted record against the new schedule. Use ICA's update function where it allows the changed detail to be corrected. If the new arrival falls outside the original valid window or the form cannot be corrected, use the official SGAC service to make a current submission. Do not guess at the checkpoint.
For an overnight flight, use the date the traveler is scheduled to reach Singapore, not the date the flight leaves the origin.
How to update MyICA safely
Update the app while connected to a trusted network before leaving home. ICA specifically advises MyICA users to update before SGAC submissions from September 30. Land travelers who use MyICA QR clearance were also told to update, although that is a separate checkpoint process.
- Open ICA's MyICA page.
- Follow ICA's link to the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Confirm the publisher before installing or updating.
- Open the app and check that it starts normally.
- Scan the passport only after the camera is clean and the document is flat.
- Compare every prefilled field with the physical passport.
- Submit only when the arrival date, flight or vessel, accommodation and email are correct.
- Save the acknowledgment email where it can be opened offline.
Do not download an app from a link in an unsolicited message. The official app does not remove the need to carry a valid passport or meet Singapore's visa and entry requirements.
How passport scanning works, and what to check
The scan is a data-entry aid. It reads document information so the traveler does not have to type every field. After September 30, the option extends beyond foreign visitors to Singapore citizens, permanent residents and Long-Term Pass holders.
Check these fields before continuing:
- full name and order of names;
- passport number;
- nationality;
- date of birth;
- passport issue and expiry dates;
- email address used for the acknowledgment and, for foreign visitors, the e-Pass process;
- arrival date and transport details.
Keep the passport in hand luggage. The SGAC acknowledgment is not a travel document, and a scan inside MyICA is not a substitute for presenting the document when requested.
The 19-language interface helps with instructions, but names and passport details still need to match the document. Do not translate a legal name into another spelling unless the form specifically asks for it.
Should families use group submission?
ICA says Group Submission is for people traveling together to Singapore on one trip. It can reduce repeated trip details, but it should not be treated as a standing family profile for unrelated journeys.
Use it when the group has the same arrival and is genuinely traveling together. Review each traveler's passport information separately. If people arrive on different flights, different dates or separate itineraries, individual submissions are clearer.
ICA's reviewed SGAC page does not publish one universal group-size promise. Follow the limit displayed in the live form rather than relying on an old forum answer. An adult completing the form remains responsible for entering accurate information for every listed traveler.
Save the acknowledgment for the group and make sure another adult can reach it if the phone owner becomes separated, loses power or changes devices.
Do transit passengers need to file?
An airside transit passenger who does not seek immigration clearance is exempt. The practical question is whether the itinerary can remain airside.
You may need to enter Singapore if you must collect checked baggage, change to a separately ticketed flight, move between processes that require immigration clearance, or stay outside the secure transit area. The airline and airport can confirm the baggage and transfer arrangement. If immigration clearance is required, complete the applicable entry steps, including SGAC.
Do not assume that a long layover automatically requires the form. Duration alone is not the test. Likewise, a short connection can require entry if baggage must be collected and rechecked.
If an itinerary changes during disruption, ask the airline whether the revised transfer remains airside. Complete the form only from the official ICA route if entry becomes necessary.
Do you need a new SGAC after a Johor Bahru day trip?
The SG Arrival Card is tied to an arrival in Singapore. A visitor who leaves for Johor Bahru and returns is making another entry and should prepare the form for that return within the official window.
Singapore residents entering through Woodlands or Tuas may fall under ICA's land-checkpoint exemption. Foreign visitors should not copy that exemption. Malaysia has its own entry requirements, which are separate from Singapore's form.

How the acknowledgment and e-Pass differ
A successful SGAC submission produces an acknowledgment email at the address entered in the form. Check the spam folder and verify that the identifying details and arrival date are correct.
The acknowledgment is not the same as an e-Pass. Foreign visitors receive the electronic visit pass after they clear immigration. ICA sends the e-Pass notification to the email declared in SGAC, and the record can also be retrieved through ICA's e-Pass enquiry service.

Use an email account that can be opened during the trip. A typo can make both the acknowledgment and e-Pass difficult to retrieve.
How to fix common SG Arrival Card problems
The passport scan is wrong
Stop and correct the fields before submitting. If manual editing is unavailable, use the web form or enter the details manually. Never submit a known-wrong passport number simply because the scan was fast.
The flight arrives after midnight
Use the scheduled Singapore arrival date. If a later delay changes it, update or resubmit through the official service as needed. Keep the airline's revised itinerary available.
The hotel is missing from a list
Use the address and accommodation details requested by the current form. If a property cannot be selected, follow the live form's manual-entry or category options. Do not choose a different hotel merely to continue.
The phone changes after submission
The submission is not made valid by one handset. Keep the acknowledgment in email or another secure offline location and carry the same physical passport used for the form. Install MyICA again only from ICA's official link.
The airport cannot find the submission
Confirm that the passport details and arrival date match. Show the acknowledgment if asked, then follow the ICA officer's instruction. Do not create repeated submissions in a queue unless the official process directs you to do so.
Prepare for a flat battery or no connection
The best time to deal with the form is before the airport. A phone can lose power, fail an update or struggle with a public Wi-Fi login. Build a small backup:
- submit within the correct window before departure;
- keep the passport and any visa or onward-travel evidence accessible;
- save the acknowledgment email offline;
- write down the accommodation address and a contact number;
- carry an airline-compliant power bank in hand luggage;
- download maps and the airport-to-hotel route;
- keep the web-form link in a bookmark, not in a screenshot of a search ad.

Where mobile data helps on arrival
The SG Arrival Card is designed to be completed before arrival, so mobile data should be a backup and onward-travel tool, not the plan for filing at immigration. After landing, a connection can help retrieve email, check the e-Pass, open transport apps, message family and follow a changed hotel route.
Airport Wi-Fi may be enough. A home plan with included Singapore roaming may also be simpler. Compare what is already included before buying another plan.
